It's a shame The Last StarFighter video game was just a pro.It would've looked DAMN COOL in an 8-'s arcade back then from the look of it's design! That & I was really disappointed I couldn't get my own hand at becoming a StarFighter back then!
god i miss the 80s tv and music today is shit . reality tv and bad rap songs its no wounder kids today are brain dead its all the shit they watch and listen to today .
The 80's knew how to make things feel huge. Take any movie and add a score like this and you make it ten times more impressive. This is one of the themes you'll never forget, even 30 years later.
When I saw this movie back 84 I thought I was the most awesome movie ever, considering what computing power was back then, they did a fantastic job with the CGI
@HerschelMatthews I'd be up for a sequel. No remake needed. It's been 26 years so maybe Alex and Maggie had kids and one of them joins the Star League as a Starfighter.
@TheCastellan: This one wouldn't-Alex would play the game on a X-Box or a PS3 (it was downloaded through the networks of either system), he beats the game, a signal is sent to Centauri, and what happened in the original movie still happens. And with today's CGI, it would look great.
There are two versions of the main theme on iTunes, but some of the best parts of the score aren't included in these 3 minute track. The Prague version is much better if you want to buy one. Other than that, it's nearly impossible to find the soundtrack online (at least through legal means). Intrada used to carry it, but their license expired. If anyone is willing to share their tracks with me, please let me know! Thanks!
thanks for the video, awesome movie, i am gunna pick it up next time i see it at walmart or wherever...i wish it was shown on tv more often, oh well...
Wow a sequel coming by evidently the man that directed it back in '84. I hope they at least use the same theme music. Lance Guest was 24 when this came out in '84 - he'll be 50 in 2010. But this is still MY DREAM AT AGE 30 and I'll never forget how watching this and listening to the opening and closing theme music drove me ecstatic as a kid till now and forever more - A TRUE CLASSIC. THE 80'S ROCK ON!!!!!!!
They will again someday. When the kids who grew up watching this are in charge of the movie studios they will make these kind of movies again. Right now it's old farts stuck in the 60s not knowing how to use the technology they have to make great visual AND great stories. Have faith my friend. We will see great movies like this again!
The game featured in the movie, which was technologically impossible to produce as a real game at the time, has recently been made into a real game. You can download it for free to your PC. Just google it.

Nooo remake!
But a sequel?... Awesome!
And to those who thought the spaceships did not look good...
THEY LOOKED FANTASTIC!!!
The look of the ships in this movie is part of the charm of this production.
& because the ships actually looked like this is this reality... Or fiction... Or whatever!

Nice. When you cut, leave the punchline for the movie. Remember, the purpose of a trailer is to tease, not reveal.
