  • No, I don't feel like I'm being slapped by the air. It may multiply the air going into the base by 16 times, but the original airflow is 20 times less than my direct blow fan.

  • no more fans in the computer ! wohooo

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

  • What a beautiful script from start to finish

  • now it's time to make a blade less helicopter

  • Let me get this straight... the fan is powered by a turbine (a fan basically) in the base... so there are blades and there is buffeting??? mindboggled.

  • @RjbsNXT indeed, but with much more blades and at lower speed, so, as the "slaps" occur soft and rapidly, it "feels" smooth....

  • @RjbsNXT Brother, let me get this straighter than you......

You will get the smooth air after multiplication. And that's the technology you are paying for.

You should n't worry about what happening inside if it's not affecting you. The final output is not buffeting.

And if u really worry about inside process stages, then u also should understand the technology and the intention of the inventor. He is not a schooler.

    Now think whose mind boggled?????

  • FFs get a new camera person. the cunt needs to point at what the guy is talking, not whatever he wants to point at

  • the summary of the whole freaking video 0:03

  • @Fred6191

And the summary of the this whole freaking comment is you are freaking........

So think before u speak or write something.

  • Can't wait for Dyson to redesign the conventional toilet. The Dyson Dumper Cyclone Pooper.

  • @mindlesspup

Hold your breath and hold your poop until that.

  • This fan does have blades, but its called by a different name, the impeller. BUT IT DOES NOT BUFFET!!!

  • can you use idea to propulse an aircraft? life a hover,

  • пидарас-разводчик

  • Total CRAP DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! IN THE USA WE REQUIRE FANS THAT WILL DRY OUR SWEAT OFF, THE UK PEOPLE DONT SWEAT CAUSE THEY ARE ALL BIPOLAR AND SCHIZOPHRENICS!

  • Can hardly wait on fathers day !

  • Sir James Dyson fuck off £200 for a fan does it turn it self on and of

  • I would like to buy this cool thing but am investigating how durable this is...still finding out...

  • I didn't realise any of these so called, "problems" with conventional fans until I watched this video... Damn you Mr. Dyson

  • @KaneDesigns

It's your problem that you don't find any problem. That's why Sir Dyson is an inventor and u r no one. The world is using his inventions for a better lifestyle.

Not like you just commenting on good designers on youtube.......

    Damn............

  • Only Dyson...

  • It not only multiplies the air by 16 times but also the price tag of a regular fan.

  • 149 people hate change.

  • @manfangle1 more like 150 people realize that dyson is full of shit for calling it a bladeless fan when all he has done is just made the fan blades internal.

  • @zomgerln You make it sound so simple. you shouldve thought of it earlier! Go on! Make on! And build a million dollar company.

  • @superravmanrampage you sound phenomenally stupid.

  • as of today i see a lot of china made product which sell 50% cheaper ...... by the credit goes to Dyson that invent it.

  • It looks modern but I thought it was based on electromagnetics like ionic wind or some other newly discovered physics effect. This thing just has a fan inside...

  • @epalmotion the fan inside sucks so little air... its its jet like cylinder shape that sucks more air in the back... thats why its called air multiplier... sucks little air at the bottom...shoots lots of it in the back. So essentially its greener because your using less energy cause the air it sucks at the back is a result of natural aerodynamics.

  • @krbato It still pulls 40 watts which is about what a normal fan of that size does. Nothing new under the sun...

  • @JViello

But with the pull of 40 watt like a normal fan, it delivers more dense and smooth air. And normal fans can't do that.

Also high speed fans are designed to pull more watt in range of 70-80.

  • It is a no from me, i wanna be a robot forever.

  • Dont worry theyll be Made in China... So youll probably stay jobless. lol

  • For some reason I read this as bladerless lol :p

  • owsum technology!!!! love it!! <3

  • Bring back the manufacturing industry in Britain.

  • I'll wait for the made in china...its cheaper.

  • Yeah, coz i was totally worried about being slapped in the face by air.... : |

  • i hate you sir dyson...you are taking away every child's dream of sounding like darth vader

  • @mistautoob1 How dare you insult Darth Vader in such a way...

  • @mistautoob1

He is also taking away chance of accident by blades. It's good for every child.

Bring them a toy fan to make them darth vader.................

  • If i'm going to spend about $300AU for a 20cm fan I am going to put an extra $100 and get a portable air conditioner instead

  • Dyson is a genius engineer...

  • he looks like Barney's - (the guy from how i met your mother)- actual DAD.

  • the "rough buffeting of a regular fan"... aaaaaw poor little rich boy can't handle da big bad breeze?? poor baby...

  • no dickhead the most noticable thing is the price... lol

  • I bought 2 and the fan is amazing! Great technology

  • so there IS a fan you just cant see it

  • he didn't say that it cost over 100€

  • Does this video get interesting if I turn the sound on? All I see is some knob waving his arms about like Magnus Pike.

  • OK...... The last + multiplier is a "siphon". Ambient air is pulled into the center of the loop because of the negative air pressure cause by the movement air rushing out of the ring. Therefor you have siphoning effect.

    True or false?

  • Yes, but will it blend?

  • This will benefit us all because the 'shit' will go straight through!

  • I don't know about you guys, but i absolutely HATE getting buffeted by the air my fan produces... oh wait that doesn't happen ever

  • how the hell did he get knighted??

  • its nice when both of the top comments i agree with :D

  • i could use that handy gizmo at this time of the season.

  • Does it have a fan inside the fan?

  • Really cool, but way too expensive.

  • Australian, Spreets has this fan available for $69

  • This guy is a scamer somebody in china made these first and then he just coped them but build them a bit different maybe a bit better, wot a joke £209 for a small one i would rather buy a small table 1 for £9.99 wot a joker this guy is fair play if ya can find people stupid enough to pay an extra £200 for the something that dose the same thing LOL

  • @irishbloodhound1 oh really? i find that hard to believe considering china has a nasty reputation of being bootleggers

  • Why is it so expensive? This technology should be less than $60. The damn thing is not remote controlled, so if I had one in my bedroom, it's a nusience to adjust or turn off.

Also, why is he saying it's better than an air conditioner? It does NOT cool the air in the environment it's in. It just moves air.

If it did cool, then you would never want to use it in the winter months at all.

he's overselling the product, let it sell itself on what it does. It's just a bladeless fan...sorta.

  • I want to see a smoke test. I don't believe the air buffeting effect of a fan with blades.

  • So you made a mini aircon? Sucks in air then pushes it out?

  • you can get this same effect for around 30 bucks with a ass load of straws glued together in a honey comb pattern infront of a fan P.S. i cant spell worth shit

  • dyson fan $499 the "everyday" fan i bought from cheap as chips $12

  • throw shit at it and see if it hits?

  • I appreciate the concept, design and simplicity but c'mon. With the amount of discomfort your average bladed fan causes you from the buffeting (Never really thought about it till this invention came about), I'm pretty sure most of us would be a lot more uncomfortable with the thought in the back of your mind thinking you have just spent fucking £200 on a fucking fan! I love Dyson's products, this does work great as I have tried it, but this is incredibly overpriced.

  • 0:46 why is the camera man zooming in on his shirt?

  • the major disadvantage of this is that if you talk into it you don't sound like a robot.

  • @rednoseguy Ya so basically it defeats the purpose of a fan huh?

  • @rednoseguy yes that's correct

  • "you can put your head or leg through the fan" - well that is very useful!

  • @rednoseguy lol i thought i was the only one tha t did that

  • Sir Dyson is using a invention from 1930 who was discovered by Henri Coanda. For reference check ,,Henri_Coanda_The_facts.pdf ,,and the invention is call Coanda nozzle used by his twin_boom jet airplane 1930.I found strange to use Coanda discovery and R&D adding the name dyson to it for making an obscene profit from someone else work

  • @tetoiu

Pretty much everything you see that is man-made on this planet exists as a result of someone taking something made earlier and making it better. It's a very basic concept, and it's responsible for humans being able to do things like fly airplanes, or go to the moon.

  • Funny you assholes keep saying this is old technology yet there are ZERO commercial products that uses it. I don't care if its been developed and thought out in the 7th century, If its not on sale now what you are saying is 100% WORTHLESS. You know why Dyson makes a lot of money ? They take an old idea and actually manufacture it. They dont make money from BOGOF losers like you cheapskates.

  • ChuggaConroy, anyone?

  • @thisismyname1920 yup lol

  • Dyson isn't an Engineer - he is a parasite and a bullshitter that makes brightly coloured plastic gimmicks that appeal to the technologically illiterate and do a mediocre job at ten times the price of current solutions. The air amplifier is 50 year old invention, yet he claims it as his own. As for the nonsense about a shortage of Engineers - I've heard that for decades. Why is the pay so poor?

  • How can they call it bladeless when it has a blade on the bottom , a duh

  • he used to make things that suck, but now make things that blow

  • Soooo, now this means we can have bladeless planes?

  • @BlakMastachief FUCK YOU WRIGHTS!

  • Yes maybe that's a point. It just annoys me. Remember how they used to get us to blow across a piece of tissue paper and it would fly up in air? That was always their 'proof' of the curved wing theory. Blah.

    Hey thanks CrystalyneCrisis for responding.

    Jon.

  • Mr Dyson, the curved top surface of an aircraft wing is NOT what makes an aircraft fly! I'm sorry if that's what we've all been taught at school but it's wrong, wrong, wrong.

If it were, then please explain how all aeroplanes manage to fly upside down with out being sucked toward the ground! Explain how aerobatic aircraft whose wings are curved on top as well as underneath manage to fly at all!

Based on your science Im surprised the fan works.

    Regards from a concerned aerodynamicist.

  • @bzakie2 In all fairness I'm sure he could explain it more scientifically but this is aimed at the general masses who are not aerodynamicists.Just saying.

  • Sir James Dyson, is it possible to use your invention / technology of the bladeless fan and make it work to ships propeller ? same principle, only under water? what do you think of my idea ? thanx a fan from Hollywood California

  • i need this.

  • We may not need it now, but he just marketed the damn future.

  • Is that, "Sir" as in knighted by the queen?

And if so, for making fans? :o

  • Comment removed

  • Haha you can stick your head through it. . .

  • Must bought... an A/C.

  • will this work as a hoover craft engine????

  • $10 for a regular fan, or $250 for this fan.. hmm no thanks I'll deal with the "buffet" lol.

  • can someone explain the difference between an impeller and a fan to me?

  • so why is this product going to take off..... *pause* sir james replies "who wouldnt want to pay $400 to get a fan that doesnt buffet you, obvious isnt it." xD "and you can put your hand or head thru it." oh my god theyve thought of everything even the strenuous exercise of cleaning. way over engineered. honestly its a fan c'mon people.

  • Haha love the guys comment below me dumbass

  • @XxEYEofABOMINATIONxX Eye is not the brightest bulb in any instance i guess

  • this is a fraud, the air inside the unit is run by guess what? a friggen fan.

  • 戴森 真的很厲害 這間公司的開發部門很厲害 佩服

  • its a called a venturi

  • Cool looking bullshit. The guy is actually comparing a fan with an airconditioning unit and calls his fan "green".

Hm, IIRC, air conditioning units can HEAT, COOL and DRY the air, and that's why their power is larger.

    Fans just push the air.

This can't be green. It costs like a nugget of fucking gold. You can buy a regular fan for 15 $ and it will last for years. But oh no, it slaps posh people! Oh my goodness, that's unacceptable! :O

What a pile of bullshit. Cool looking bullshit.

  • @endimion17 Dude, why can't people appreciate innovation and new ideas? Of course his going to up the price, he is price skimming! Until china comes up with a cheap knock off, he'll bleed the market dry for as long as he can.

  • @marineninga New ideas? This is just trying to reinvent a wheel! Anyone with a decent knowledge of physics can see he's just milking the money out of gullible hipsters. His fan is LOUD, wastes energy, and believe me, it collects dust and mold inside the unit because a fan (with blades! :D) sucks in air at the base.

An inefficient, though cool looking device.

  • @endimion17 Sometimes the wheel does need reinventing, sometimes what a product needs is just a new way of doing things. Price skimming is a legitimate marketing strategy used by virtually every company that releases a product. The target market may not be hipsters so-to-speak, it could be just the humble employee who works in an office. It may have flaws, but so have many great inventions/innovations in the past eg. the plane, the car, the bike, the light bulb. Some guy will address it later!

  • brilliant! too bad innovators don`t get more airtime - way too much hype these days

  • Actually bought this just for kicks, the wind is good but the thing is just too LOUD! seriously, this and the price tag? Also, the manufacturing plant are ripping it off and selling units without the Dyson Brand (same parts, bought one, took it apart for comparison) for only around USD 30. (roughly 1200 baht in Thailand.)

  • "But a regular fan will cause harm if you put your finger in it"

  • Notice how he refuses the word FAN which is inside. Ok it does not have blades as such but it does have an impellor.

The biggest lie is to say its the same 2.5kw of air conditioning.

He telling us a 40watt fan does the same job as a 2.5kw ac unit.

What a load of old poppycock!

  • Mr. Dyson Sir, I understand paying $300 for a nice smooth breeze, but please sir divert some your R and D money into the wind energy generation field. The world really doesn't need a $300 fan and vacuums that sucks 5 times as much as the competition.

  • omg he has the troll face

  • the way he says here

  • Explain... The price tag.

  • his voice can make anything sound smart ..

  • So its a Venturi effect?

  • I thought he was Rod Stewart briefly ... hahaha.

  • but would it blend??

  • Luke.....Luke.......I..am...your...father!

  • very cool invention, its just to expensive

  • There needs to be one of the blue and graphite grey ones with blue LEDs

  • That Harry Wallop is an idiot.

  • wow......

    why didn't i think of that :(

  • Ohh the buffeting... Finally one less problem for the first world :P

  • this may be the fan for everyone after our generation. and people might think how does fans with blades works.

  • But will it blend?

  • @1362monster it has already blended moron, already with china imitation, and will you cut that crappy comment of yours

  • What a shit interviewer!

  • Very Impressive indeed

  • mix flowinpler its a fan lies lies lies still what one

  • It's a very neat idea, but why make it an overpriced novelty item? There are obviously no expensive components in it to justify the price.

  • @peshozmiata gotta pay the guys doing the R&D for it

  • @peshozmiata Yeah, but whats the price of Magic?

  • @WonderfulDenmark Not much, when you know how it works :P

  • @peshozmiata Its more of a sales pitch, sort of a "Its New, Its Shiny, Its a Futuristic Luxury Doohicky" kinda deal

  • @GabrielKnightz Yeah, that's pretty much what a "novelty item" is... The Dyson Hot is a more practical item, but it too, is so overpriced that i doubt many will buy one.

  • @peshozmiata well, that's the Dyson business model innit? Overpriced pointless gimmickry - painted yellow.

  • @peshozmiata its cause you're paying for the design, concept, blah blah blah...... just like a apple product =D

  • @trashcan1112 Yeah, and just like an apple product, im never buying one ;P

  • @peshozmiata The price is justified by the research, time, construction and design of the product.

  • @peshozmiata Super normal profit; as soon as a serious competitor(s) makes something similar, the price of the Dyson will reduce greatly as they no longer monopolise the market for bladeless fans. I mean even the word 'bladeless' is apparently no such word yet according to the spell check on here! Know what you mean though, well overpriced.

  • Sounds like a hair blower :/ My fan has a breeze option where it virtually makes no sound but still moves air :P

  • only in first world countries would they invent something like this because the previous product had a slightly unfavorable way of blowing air into your lazy ass

  • It's a cool idea, but very 'Walace & Gromit'. U know, totally inneficient - not necessarily in wattage used, but in PRICE! The thing's fuking $300. U can get a fan @ Walmart or something that moves even more air, quieter, for less than $30. It's just niche products 4 people looking 4 a conversation topic or fashion statement - totally absurd pricing.

  • I read the title as "Sir James Dyson explains his badass fan" lol

    Anyone else?

  • 1:05 *While the fan is turning, he sees his best friend cut in half* WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!

  • Dyson, you are a genius ! But why do you explain how it works. Somebody could copy your idea. Maybe you have a licence for that technology.

  • @666ocelot if somebody steals his idea.. hes 10x richer.. why would he care?

  • Hahaha hahahahahahaha! "Bladeless"? If this counts as bladeless so does every other system where you simply can't see the blades. Central air? Bladeless. The environmental control in your car? Bladeless. My tower fans? Bladeless.

  • That dude in the tie is a major douche.

  • I actually tried a blade-less fan at Shopping center Japan for free :P And while the air does feel smoother, less disrupting and quieter than the conventional fan, to me it's not worth +$300. I would only pay up to $150 maximum. There's one disadvantage though, since the air goes in one direction, it has less surface area to cool you compared to a conventional fan.

  • whats next?? wheel-less cars??

  • @Shohidul1995 you mean a boat?

  • @snipyism no, thats on water

im talking about wheel-less car on roads

  • People study for years to become experts in their fields. Some people become doctors and battle cancers. Others go into the ICT industry and revolutionize the way our would communicates. Others still become engineers and build amazing megolithic structures that are a monument to human kind. This guy made a bladeless fucking fan.

  • you should see his headless chicken

  • you should see his headless chicken

  • @krystine96 shutup this is not a page for you to try to sell ur shit, take it somwhere else, and the top two comments are funny as hell

  • fuck using it as a fan, im gonna buy those big ones and play some quidditch!

  • does anyone like avon? i sell it and the products are really good quality

  • Reminds me of a plane engine.

  • Your mom has a 1.3 milometer wide slot.

  • is this thing really worth the cost. Smooth air for choppy air, for this is like a what 200 dollar difference. Give me a box fan and itll do just fine

  • Genius!

  • could this be good for propulsion

  • @TheSaltysack No, it wouldn't. It's a very inefficient way to move air. By blowing it through a duct that is actually a right angle to the fan isn't a very good idea for propulsion.

  • But can I still make a robot voice with this?

  • Yay, now i can put my head through the fan, for no purpose what so ever.

  • You've ruined the phrase "When the shit hit's the fan"..... Where's it gonna go??

  • @cozza2679 through the hole of course

and then the speed of said shit will be "amplified" and the target will be hit by high velocity shit

Yes people he has invented a wind powered balista

  • i saw a smaller one before. this small dest air multiplier it was a pink one
