  • Was that a proper TOS-style Kelvin-class at 0:39 ?

  • @stu1701E

Yes a very similar design by KnightRider.

  • Holy shit that was awesome! I want to see the progression as she gets her refit!

  • Great work!

  • The Enterprise: NCG-1701; preparing to die and be reborn. That has been happening to ships since Roman times (and probably before) but there is always a moment of sadness as the crew realizes that the ship they served on, lived on and for some, died on; will go through a change and become a new and effectively different ship. Sadness for what is lost and hope for the new and better systems that will go into the hull.

And maybe the Thanksgiving turkey won't be made of hamburger next year...

  • @KMacKellerann So true. I think a lot of real world Navy sailors could probably tell us the same if we could ask them. The only examples I know of are from the US Navy, but I remember USS Midway being rebuilt pretty extensively several times, and some of those refits were nearly as dramatic as the one NCC-1701 goes through. 1701's aircraft carrier ancestor, USS Enterprise CV-6, also went through some major upgrades during WW2 and I remember her sailors describing how they felt about that. =D

  • Great Video, I was "deeply impressed". To me the best part was @ 0:53. Where the Enterprise battlecruiser was nothing more then a small ship up-against Earth.

  • That's kinda sad, watching the Enterprise take her last steps before the major refit that made her an almost completely new ship. The music added to the atmosphere. Well done. I nod in respect.

  • THAT WAS BRILLIANT...!

  • You know, as much as I love TNG, nothing stirs my soul like the original Starship ENTERPRISE. Lovely, lovely work.

  • Maybe somehow we can see Spock Prime in a Flashback discuss the Coming home of the Enterprise from her Original 5 Year Mission under Captain Kirk. We could hear him discuss the Surprise of the heads of Starfleet at his Decsion to leave Starfleet. His Description of Captain Kirk's reaction to his resignation from Starfleet. We could see in the Background the Deconstruction of the Enterprise as she is Converted to her new Configuration.

  • it is a really touching scene. excellent use of music too

  • Good use of the TOS music.

  • Two thumbs up! Bravo! 5 out of 5 Stars! (I'm running out of cliche's!)

  • I liked your use of the music from the TV series, especially the last theme where the Enterprise was docking. Very nice and emotionally touching.

  • 2 People secretly work for khan.......

  • Leka notch detza, leka notch detza

    :)

  • "Couldn't get the lighting looking very good in a few scenes, especially the warp scenes and the bussards aren't that great either" - from description.

To me, it looks natural, every scene of it.

  • As your other works, very impressive! The only thing I could even find to TRY to pick apart was the NCC-1701 on the ventral saucer was a bit oversized, but so not important considering the oustanding attention to detail you poured into this! Two thumbs up!

  • No matter how many versions of this ship they make, this one is always the best.

  • it almost brings a tear to my eye... especially after 2:14...

  • There's almost a sadness in the whole tone of the video as Enterprise powers down and the whole Spacedock complex moves around Earth's night side.

  • That was amazing. Can you make a vid of the ol gal getting her refit please?

  • Thanks. I certainly will :)

  • Bravo! Three cheers! You did a superb job capturing the character and likeness of the original classic ship. I had to watch this several times to take in the beauty of your craftsmanship and the fine attention to detail. I hope you don’t mind if I use portions of this in one of my future Star Trek fan made episodes. Of course, you and your crew would be given full credit. Hopefully, even draw more fans to view your great work. Check out our latest episode "Trek Love Bug."

  • @Peanutman1954

Yes thanks, by all means use the video and give credit.

  • Well done.

  • Wow...This feels like this belongs in before the opening credits of ST: TMP! VERY well done! I wish it were possible to mix in cutaway footage of the crew on the bridge as the ship comes in to drydock but man! Great job!

  • I always thought they should have put this in ST:TMP!

  • @TONYGILLEY, it just goes to show you that Star Trek was just ahead of its time. Not only the technology, but the whole concept was just way ahead of society. That's why it ended the way it did.

But on another note, I doubt if we would have it as popular as it has been if the series would have continued.

  • The various non-cannon comics have done some nature of end of the Five Year Mission. It's a pity that TOS ended prematurely. considering the nature of 60's television it would have been interesting if and how they would have done a fitting final episode. would it have affected the nature of the 1st Movie? Kirk becomes an Admiral? Spock and McCoy a Monk and a 70's Disco dancer respectively?

  • There are only 3 words that describe this;

    "She comes home".

  • Will there be one where the Enterprise-A returns to spacedock after The Undiscovered Country?

  • @captainkirk1701

Not sure, but that's a good idea for a video.

  • This is really cool. Will there be a part II with the Enterprise being refitted in progression?

  • @captainkirk1701

No went straight to the refit leaving drydock. I did have I look into it but it was complicated.

  • Nicely done!

  • That second music track feels like a lullaby for the Enterprise.

"Welcome home, old girl. You can rest easy now."

  • A fitting tribute to a lovely lady.

The Original Enterprise was, and always will be, the definitive sci-fi starship ever.

  • What are the names of the songs used in the video? So beautiful.

  • @StarFleetCommand3

    Thanks.

They are "Approach of the Enterprise" and "Ruth" from TOS soundtrack and "It's Been An Honour" from Nemesis.

  • very high quality, how do you export it with 3ds???

  • @Kimithebest1994

    1080x450 PNG sequence

  • That was beautiful, looking forward to seeing that beautiful ship going through her refit, if u do it :)

  • WOW! I love it. Please, let us see the refit in progress...PLEASE!

  • Perfect. The choice of music was just right and the shot of the Enterprise in dock at 2:05 is the best version I've seen of quite a popular scene in fan art.

I know it would take too much time, really, but it would be really cool to start off with this, then show the ship being refitted and then culminate in footage (or CGI footage to match) of the launch in TMP, with the music gradually shifting from the TOS score into TMP's.

  • @Johnnymoo

Thank you, I am trying to do that but otherwise will skip straight to the refit leaving drydock scene, which I have wanted to do for ages!

  • Outstanding,lovely editing too !! :D

  • nice vid work man, loved it

  • Very Very cool video

  • i would love to see a video about the time spending of the enterprise after and between tmp, on the refit.

  • All I can say is "beautiful."

  • Definitely favorited! Not only is this great animation, you've made it art. A historic moment in Trek history brought to life. Thanks for posting.

  • You know how to make Star Trek beautiful! I love these!

  • This is awesome and sad at the same time.Gotta upgrade if the Klingons upgrade, though!

  • An old friend has returned home...THANKS.

  • Love the video, but for some reason I see the Enterprise getting the Phase II concept refit prior to this one. After all, we only saw 3 seasons of the Five Year Mission...

  • @majormagna

Well the Phase II concept is not canon, although I do like it and it was intended to be the new design for the Enterprise until the TMP one was worked out. Having two refits in 3 years would not make much sense either.

  • Just simply 'Beautiful'. That's a scene fans always wondered about but never saw. Thanks for bringing that to the fans and anyone who enjoys seeing the "ENTERPRISE"

  • Delightful use of "Ruth." Very well done. :)

  • Ah, very nice. The old girl going in for a full makeover.

  • Either way, the Enterprise is a beautiful ship. Nice work.

  • Excellent. Always worth the wait

  • Simply the most amazing video of the original Enterprise that I've ever seen. And to see the last few minutes of the original five year mission was touching to see. You not only have a talent for CGI you have a talent for touching fans hearts. Thank you so much for showing us this. This brings me back to a time where there was just the original 1701 before the movies or the series. JJ Abrams Enterprise could never touch this ship!

  • @charmedonenx Here! Here!

  • great work, amazing !! =]

  • Great ! can you make one of them rebuilding the ship? that would be cool!

  • @tdrewman

I might do, I will see how easy it turns out to be lol

  • NEW VIDEO!

    ^_^

  • GOOD

  • nice work my friend

    live long and prosper
