  • hippies indeed, its good to see the cops doing their job.

  • hippies

  • hippies

  • America th Beautiful!! I'm appauled to see these children, brave as they are, herded like sheep and arrested for peacefully assembling!! These kids are our future, and for this I am pround, but am ashamed of the way that they're treated!! We have to fight for our children! It shouldn't have to be the other way around!!

  • By the way brown town I noticed that you have never posted a video to youtube ever. All you do is troll other peoples work--how convenient.

  • Well no they CANNOT put it in the ratebase--thats why they HAVE NOT on the plants that are not putting out power. It first has to generate some power--then get approved for the rate base which is a rubber stamp.

  • Wow, you really are completely ignorant of TVA's history. The debt came from their terrible and stupid investment in nuclear power--period. They nearly broke themselves investing in a tech they never really worked out--fired thousands of people as a result--and still CANNOT put much of it iinto the rate base. It has nothing to do with them chosing not to--they CANNOT until they put out some power from the many plants they started to build then failed.

  • Well no, they definitely CAN put it into the rate base, there is no public service commission to say otherwise. As for the debt, only ~3 Billion is currently being carried against deferred nuclear assets which they are required by law to pay down over the next 5 years. Their debt is not too far out of line from other utilities. Remember to include both debt and equity capital though. Publicly traded companies issue stock to raise capital, TVA has to use debt. See 10K filings for more info.

  • Yes, TVA is so brilliant with power that they managed to put themselves 29 BILLION in debt.

They must be wonderful to do what they do and lose so much damn money at it.

  • They could just charge higher rates, would that be better for you?

As for debt, it is tied to existing assets. Just like you pay off your house over 30 years TVA pays for power plants over 30-40 years, The debt represents the depreciated worth of these assets. It is like saying you are $100,000 in debt because you bought a house. TVAs power plants are worth more than their 25 Billion dollar debt which is more than alot of home owners can say these days.

  • I saw the woman at the beginning of this video at the TVA board meeting along with many others all saying the same message. They all wanted more renewable energy which is fine, but its funny how they have been convinced that it is somehow economically viable in this region. Exactly where did they get their education in this subject to know more than the thousands of TVA employees or the hundreds of thousands in the industry? funny when the uneducated try to preach to the knowledgeable.

  • Yea the Knoxville police department was courteous, polite and professional. TVA could learn allot from them.

  • The sirens were coming from the Headquarters Firehall which is just a block down. KPD Is the most professional department around and does not use intimidation tactics in that manner. And it is against City Ordinance to block a pedestrian sidewalk.

  • feel like I missed something... theire on the ground.. copsays get up you bloking the side walk an yer gonna get pnomonia... they get up... why are they also getting arrested?

  • Great work down there in TN! Thank you from the Coal River Valley.

  • Great job-keep up the great work!

  • Notice the sirens while they were laying down? It was just noise to try to "intimidate" us, lol. Great shot of Cole at the end!

  • There are many ways for people to contribute to a movement like Mountain Justice, and to help their campaign for clean energy, strong communities and human health.

Matt was on the ground providing emergency disaster relief to Swan Pond residents. The folks in this video decided to brave inclement weather and risk arrest as an act of civil conscience in solidarity with these efforts.

Acts of civil disobedience help reinforce the message to TVA and the public that coal is dirty and dangerous.

  • No, this one was on purpose. Now you can tell the difference.

  • so, are ya'll gonna claim that THIS wasn't om purpose as well?

I mean I'm willing to give your boy Matt there the benefit of the doubt on his previous arrest, but given as your entire movement is based on PR it undermines your previous arguments that you aren't trying to get arrested when that clearly is the case here.
