Ocarina was good, but Majora's mask... The creepy music, that creepy skul kid mask, the creepy moon. It was dark, sad and creepy - three things I hate in art, music and stories - and yet Majora's mask has won my heart as one of the best games of all time. It truly deserves more credit. @drago453 Any reasons why? Most people seem to get stuck on the fact that its a 3 day cycle, then they quit after only playing it for a short amount of time and pretty much miss out on one of the better zelda games (and in my opinion one of the better games ive EVER played)

heh I can play this on my Replica of the Ocarina of Time... and it is a great song... I can also play the song of time, Zelda's Lullaby... and a few others... quite a few other Zelda related songs... even the intro theme of Twilight Princess...
This song is too powerful. I don't listen to is very often, but each time I do I am brought to tears. Nothing else has ever effected me quite like this.

Walking into the clock tower, and the lost door grinding closed behind you as this melody plays along with the rhythm of the waterwheel turning just brought about such a mystical feeling like "Here we go. Another adventure."
The music, the emotions of the characters throughout the game are just a couple things that made Majora's Mask so flawless.
Maybe it's just me, but i think that only a few Zelda games were able to nail this mystical feeling. The newer ones are good, but not *as* good.

I remember how i used to watch my brother playing this game, cause i was too scared to mess things up. Amazing game, som emotional and so deep. Ocarina Of Time was amazing, one of the best games of all times in my opinion. But this nothing less than a masterpiece, its art.

Majora's Mask. Nothing to this day has been able to move me emotionally as much as this game. Sure Fable makes you make decisions but you never felt connection. I've never been so distraught over a game ever since I completed the "Couples Mask" quest. Overall. OoT and Majora are beautifully scored masterpieces that actually involve player immersion. It was dark and it was twisted, but it was beautiful. This song encompasses feelings of loneliness and heartbreak. A lieu of how the Skull kid felt

I don't know, TP was actually my favorite- I thought It had great pacing through the dungeons and everywhere else, amazing music (a lot which was remixed from OoT) and I thought not worrying about your majic meter was a GOOD thing...but this was the first Zelda game (and one of my very first games) I played and it'll always have a special place up there with Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Star Fox 64

I personally think that the darker themes are better because they help you appreciate real things and it doesnt fool you into thinking that the world is so happy and perfect.

Did anybody ever notice that Ocarina of Time was almost a fully happy game due to Saria's Song; and Majora's Mask's emotions are all sad and is Ocarina of Time all mixed up and is sad due to its Song of Healing(which is Saria's Song backwards)
i think that majora's mask was the best zelda game of all time, and it actually made me care about the characters and their story I even think this game is better than ocarina of time.

I'm replaying this game now. Even though I've played OOT and Wind Waker and Twilight Princess multiple times, I've only ever played this game once before. It's because it was just so depressing. :( It has such a lonely feel to it, especially when you're standing by the clocktower, waiting for midnight on the 3rd day. I do like the game, it's just not something I want to play very often.
@Melylareputamadre I agree, something about going into the astral observatory and hearing that theme even though the moons coming down. I found it an awesome feeling/experience
I find OoT far more depressing. Everything is static, there is not as much of a motivating feeling to play. The time aspect of Majora's gives me more vigor to get as many sidequests and temples done in a single 3 day period. OoT also feels more dark and lonely to me. Yes this game is dark but not in the same way as OoT. This has always been my opinion since this game came out.
majoras mask was the only zelda game that ever made me think. the emotions behind all the characters offered a lot of qquestions behind their past. This was truly the thinking mans zelda game XD
@pranavishere thats why this is one of my favorite games of all time. ive never gotten as attatched to the characters in any other game as much as this one before. the emotion that they packed into it is astounding. for a kids game, it definetly has an adult amount of feeling in it
TP was a great game in it's own right, but it didn't have the same magic that OOT and MM had. Maybe it was just that I was a child back when I played OOT, but I'm waiting for that feeling again.
oh yeah, MM was defs an amazing game. I liked it just as much as Oot except for the final boss battle which I just found way too easy cuz of the Fierce Diety mask. But then again i was a lot older when i played majora so i might have just been better at zelda in general.
I had that same magic in Wind Waker...i would give so much just to visit that place. its almost as if i've lost that innocence that i had as a child which allowed me to accept hyrule without question. This song and the poem attached to this video speaks to me about these things.
TP was a let down. poor temple design and por music. and poor item selection. aside from double hook shot, bow, the top thing and the mace it was all useless. and no magic!!!! we got a lantern instead.

Twilight was the end. That was the game it where it jumped shark. Bad controls, bad levels, no emotion whatsoever. bad music, the fucking wolf thing, midna being worse than navi, and no replay value. Every small thing about Twilight really brings it down. It is a good game in general but for zelda standards it sucks.

MIDNAS LAMENT? HYRULE CASTLE? KING BULBIN BATTLE??? They could have done the wolf thing better. Midna actually HELPS LINK. Midna, in dungeons will help him with puzzles. Navi will go "Link! try to keep moving!" I beat the game 9 TIMES not once was i bored.
I have played it many times actually. I didnt feel anything at all during the game. As many other people on the comments here said, The other games music (including even windwaker) actually kept me up at night thinking about the story and all of the character's backstory.
In twilight princess, i hate the motion controls. I find myself forgetting what is where and i hate how you need two hands at all times (one for wiimote one for nunchuk).
@timerider2 TP was fun but it's not nearly up to snuff with Majora's Mask. I say it's a great game but a bad Zelda game.
Although to be fair the City in the Sky was very fun. I just hate it when people say it's one of the best Zelda games, that it has a great story or that its companion was the best because she was wise-cracking, sarcastic and deep. All three of those titles belong to Majora's Mask.
Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are my favourite Zelda games. Twilight Princess has a slow start bet gets better along the way. I can tell Skyward Sword IS NOT going to be a let down though. But yeah Twilight Princess was a let down to me but I still liked it.
One of the best and most mysterious songs in the whole game. :)

I think the likes of MORTAL KOMBAT and DOOM are less likely to mentally scar kids than this E rated game. Our rating system is screwed up.

I personally think that the darker themes are better because they help you appreciate real things and it doesnt fool you into thinking that the world is so happy and perfect.
I love this game SOO much! along with ALL the other Zeldas!!

Did anybody ever notice that Ocarina of Time was almost a fully happy game due to Saria's Song; and Majora's Mask's emotions are all sad and is Ocarina of Time all mixed up and is sad due to its Song of Healing(which is Saria's Song backwards)

I'm replaying this game now. Even though I've played OOT and Wind Waker and Twilight Princess multiple times, I've only ever played this game once before. It's because it was just so depressing. :( It has such a lonely feel to it, especially when you're standing by the clocktower, waiting for midnight on the 3rd day. I do like the game, it's just not something I want to play very often.

I find OoT far more depressing. Everything is static, there is not as much of a motivating feeling to play. The time aspect of Majora's gives me more vigor to get as many sidequests and temples done in a single 3 day period. OoT also feels more dark and lonely to me. Yes this game is dark but not in the same way as OoT. This has always been my opinion since this game came out.

majoras mask was the only zelda game that ever made me think. the emotions behind all the characters offered a lot of qquestions behind their past. This was truly the thinking mans zelda game XD

@pranavishere thats why this is one of my favorite games of all time. ive never gotten as attatched to the characters in any other game as much as this one before. the emotion that they packed into it is astounding. for a kids game, it definetly has an adult amount of feeling in it

TP was a great game in it's own right, but it didn't have the same magic that OOT and MM had. Maybe it was just that I was a child back when I played OOT, but I'm waiting for that feeling again.

oh yeah, MM was defs an amazing game. I liked it just as much as Oot except for the final boss battle which I just found way too easy cuz of the Fierce Diety mask. But then again i was a lot older when i played majora so i might have just been better at zelda in general.

But I must ask... have you played the wind waker?
It doesn't have quite the same feeling of the OOT or MM, but it's deffinately sattisfying. Especially the battle with Ganondorf.
It's the only zelda game I've played through 10 times.
I would play though MM and OOT again, but my nintendo 64 is being really stupid and won't play right.... :(

I had that same magic in Wind Waker...i would give so much just to visit that place. its almost as if i've lost that innocence that i had as a child which allowed me to accept hyrule without question. This song and the poem attached to this video speaks to me about these things.

TP was a let down. poor temple design and por music. and poor item selection. aside from double hook shot, bow, the top thing and the mace it was all useless. and no magic!!!! we got a lantern instead.

Twilight was the end. That was the game it where it jumped shark. Bad controls, bad levels, no emotion whatsoever. bad music, the fucking wolf thing, midna being worse than navi, and no replay value. Every small thing about Twilight really brings it down. It is a good game in general but for zelda standards it sucks.

@Steveyboy41495 It cant compare to the classics, but come on.. it was a great game. The conbtrols were very well developed and creative, no emotion? your kidding right... BAD MUSIC???? SACRED GROVE? MIDNAS LAMENT? HYRULE CASTLE? KING BULBIN BATTLE??? They could have done the wolf thing better. Midna actually HELPS LINK. Midna, in dungeons will help him with puzzles. Navi will go "Link! try to keep moving!" I beat the game 9 TIMES not once was i bored.

I have played it many times actually. I didnt feel anything at all during the game. As many other people on the comments here said, The other games music (including even windwaker) actually kept me up at night thinking about the story and all of the character's backstory.
In twilight princess, i hate the motion controls. I find myself forgetting what is where and i hate how you need two hands at all times (one for wiimote one for nunchuk).

I do like the game, dont get me wrong, but it doesnt compare to the rest of the series.
Lastly I think the game beats-around-the-bush too much. Like there is only 8 dungeons. Why? And 35 hours on average with that? Why?
I could never have the patience to speedrun twilight. I do it all the time for ocarina and majora but not twilight

@timerider2 TP was fun but it's not nearly up to snuff with Majora's Mask. I say it's a great game but a bad Zelda game.
Although to be fair the City in the Sky was very fun. I just hate it when people say it's one of the best Zelda games, that it has a great story or that its companion was the best because she was wise-cracking, sarcastic and deep. All three of those titles belong to Majora's Mask.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are my favourite Zelda games. Twilight Princess has a slow start bet gets better along the way. I can tell Skyward Sword IS NOT going to be a let down though. But yeah Twilight Princess was a let down to me but I still liked it.

ever. We got a fucking SKY TEMPLE and an awesome ice temple, and the sand temple was very fun and creative with the spinner.
No magic, true, but still had some really cool items. Bullshit.
