Its kind of about new beginnings and not being able to take everything they want with them, having to leave certain things behind. Even though he loved her, and wanted more than anything to save her, inside he knew he never would be able too, so he finally decided letting her go was the only way. They actually make an effort. Their albums are more than collections of songs, there's a bit of a story or theme to it as well.

The video is so much more than just about the band breaking up. The short film is about strting new, fresh, starting over, and forgetting all of the bad things that have happened. Just like in the epic poem The rime of the ancient mariner in the end the man has the albatross around his neck showing that he has many burdens and also pain... all he has to do is throw it off and be freed...... Brendon and Spencer are trying to say just let go, throw your albatross away and "save yourself"

The symbolism in this is absolutely amazing, but the best part is at the end when Brendon and Spencer drop all of their bagage (ryan and jon) just to getaway from their troubles and problems... yes it is easy to say "just let go", but i am sure that everyone knows that it can be quite a challenge to lose people who are important to them.
