  • @RECurseTO Never doubt the Richter.

  • @RECurseTO probably had a C camera going for an ending shot.

  • When you play this on guitar, it becomes speed metal. Bu in the other hand he played it ridiculously good.

  • This guy would make a good youtube troll.

  • @marcelmombeekpiano Marcel,Marcel toch.Loosing leverage..Is it not rather you who is in need for medication?Meeting you on youtube is not so difficult. As you certainly noticed a growing group of people are fed up with your insulting comments on Pollini and Richter. We just get overwhelmed and disgusted with the smell of your "shit"comments whenever we want to listen to these great pianists.Your humiliating comments rob you of higher cognitive powers.Stop doing this to yourself. It will hurt you.

  • @marcelmombeekpiano It seems that more and more people are fed up with your insulting but nevertheless infantile comments. It is maybe better to let people just think what an arrogant man you are.But you seem to want to prove this fact all the time.Allow me to use your favourite quote:you are the biggest mistake ever in the history of Youtube.I know you dont give a damn about "copyrights" isnt't it? Cheers

  • jeez i wana play this soooooo bad

  • For me, this version is the FINAL!!!! :-)

  • Qatar is a kingdom. They have a ruler.

  • Argh, meant "he"

  • It's all well and good, but can we play "Wonderwall"?

  • I canno't believe this is real time speed...

  • Безумно красивая музыка.

  • This is my favorite interpretation of this piece. It is fucking fantastic imho

  • Magnificent, thanks for sharing!

  • @marcelmombeekpiano Pardon me for saying so, but you are making yourself sound like an idiot.

  • Stunning performance, his IQ must be in the 180s or someting. I am impressed.

  • genius

  • In the first 2 seconds.. Did anyone else think: "OMG IT'S JOHN MALKOVICH PLAYING CHOPIN!"

  • best perfomer of the rev. etude

  • damn

  • Richter: un orso che suona il pianoforte, nessuna eleganza il solito pestone distruggi pianoforti!

Richter: a bear who plays the piano, not the usual style ram destroy pianos!

  • @bllfrncmr non avrà l'eleganza di michelangeli,ma stilisticamente è unico, perchè lo riconosceresti fra mille. e tra l'altro aveva anche una grande tecnica.

  • does anybody know why Chopin named it revolutionary etude?

  • I love how he looks, thinks about it, mad face, then BANG!

  • I believe that only Richter and Pollini perfectly played chopin revolutionary etude.

    .

  • Feel revolutionary thoughts?

  • fucking genius, I love you

  • Sounds like this is being played in a slightly different key signature. Still just as moving.

  • Anyone reading that comment should note that this person must not know anything about Richter.

  • is he trying to kill someone in the beginning?

  • wau)

  • @fister100500 It is spelled "WOW" :-)

  • God has got a name, it's Frederic Chopin.

  • @fakissimodofake I hope not. I do not want to think to have blasphemed him! :D

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt His name has been blasphemed by the religious system through all the years. His name is Yahu and His Son, Yahushua.. "God' (dog), "jesus chirst" are just paganism from Constantine's christianism, converted to Rome.

  • God, I love his interpretation of this piece

It's violent, but in a very sincere way

  • I first heard this song in Serbian movie Deja Vu (Već Viđeno).

Both this composition and the movie are amazing.

  • I love his playing... Richter is a true pianist.

  • Amazing!!! I love Richter's playing!!

  • excellent

  • This piece is perfect for Richter.

  • Daddy is very angry

  • Thought at beginning "ITS OVER 9,000!"

  • Best interpretation and incredible speed...

  • I knew Richter was an utter genius. But this goes beyond anything. Did Chopin know this Etude could be played so beautilfully ?

  • best revolutionary etude interpretation

  • 55 deaf,sadly :|

  • @NerdiezUniteFAIL then the original performance done by richter would be slower than this? I thought there was nothing wrong with the speed. I thought the piano was mistuned.

  • inquietante

  • @GNRlie bad joke man you dont have culture you play mock of pianists...

  • @ZyZy1234Windowslive Even pianists have a sense of humor; do you?

  • @alspageddi THIS IS NOT A HUMOR

    Richter didnt have dogs

  • @ZyZy1234Windowslive That's precisely the point! He doesn't need a dog for it to be amusing! I see you're from Russia, so obviously the language barrier is preventing you from grasping the subtleties of humor in the English language.

  • @alspageddi you are from Somalia!

  • @ZyZy1234Windowslive No, I'm not. My location says Qatar, which is not in Somalia. Geez, get a map! And even that's a lie--I'm from the United States. I just didn't want to put my actual location when I created this account years ago. Plus, even if I were from Qatar, that wouldn't preclude me from having an excellent grasp on English. Many young people from the wealthier Middle Eastern countries speak English quite well, having studied at American universities.

  • @ZyZy1234Windowslive

It seems Emil Gilels was very afraid of cats!

  • @GNRlie

    0:01 - "Yeah, I did. I'm a boss."

  • One of my legendary pianist. Now, at this moment, a new talent is growing up Alexander Lubyantsev. I expect he win the Tchaikovsky Competition 2011

  • Wait, why is this in C# minor? Is it because the recording is sped up?

  • @oozingmarshmallows it seems pretty old and it's out of sync with the video so the audio probably just got messed up when it was uploaded

  • @oozingmarshmallows Indeed sounds a semitone sharp... seems unlikely the piano was mistuned a semitone, so I do think it's sped up a bit...

  • Fastest revolutionary etude ever? :D

  • he's not joking.

  • 0:00 his "i'm going to try and wreck this piano" face lol

  • It seems to be in C#m so it's running about 1/12 fast... quibble, quibble. Nevertheless...

  • what a fast finger !!

  • what a fasten finger !!

  • he's very very fast between 1:08 and 1:13 wthell o.O

  • Oh, so this is what an eargasm is like ...

  • How you could dislike this? I just can't concieve it. This is a powerful, techinical piece, and played perfectly. I'm baffled.

  • But, his expression before he started playing is epic.

  • Richter - the greatest ever!

  • "has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?" -intro to revolutionary etude comes in-

  • @Xsniper90X haha brilliant. Never expected that to turn up here... I'm thinking that no-one's really been far even as decided to use even go want to do sound more like Richter. Never!

  • Ony of my Chopin's favorites!!

  • I love this song and the beginning was one of the most epic starts I've ever seen.

"Did I turn the stove off......? Yes." BANG!!!!!!!!! *epic revolutionary etude*

  • @Xorrand1991 Even though you called it a song, I still lol'd.

  • @Xorrand1991 rofl!!!!

  • epic playing, best rendition I've heard.

Is there a better quality version of this? cos its a shame about the sound quality

    still epic though :P

  • one of the best interpretation ever, definitely the best I've heard. Being a huge fan of Horowitz, from the available recordings of this etude have to accept Richter plays it better

  • mortel

  • I love how sounds this untuned piano!

  • He needs to tune his piano.

  • @jamma140 It's an old recording.

  • it's amazing...

  • Chopin Revolutionary Etude created, noise because he could not return to Polish because of illness. He wrote this song to buoy up of his countrymen - the Poles in the fight against colonization. You can see how much he loved his homeland - Poland.

  • @12233anka I think he wrote it just as the Russians invaded Poland, it must have been a strange and emotional time.

  • in which year was this recorded??

  • @TheMUSEicisnecessary probably in the '60s. He looks 50 here

  • I don't know if this has been said, but the reason why he's moving like he's having a spasm is because that's what your body does when you are playing piano and you are so involved in the music -- he is not retarded. Watch any talented pianist who is passionate about the piece they are playing and they'll move exactly like that.

  • @TheImpressionnant I think it's not that much about emotions. It's about building up the climaxes. What you see here is technique, not Lang Lang - ish showiness. Richter's body was simply extremely responsive to any musical idea, and was fully involved in producing the best possible sound. That's why he looks so athletic and elastic.

  • Etude Revolutionnaire fills me with raw energy every time I listen to it. Definitely one of Chopin's greatest pieces.

  • Like thunder in the summer... In many areas of my country, he is called " Thunder Left Hand".

  • The cameraman is fucking not shooting his hands. omg

  • Amazing performance! But why was it called the Revolutionary Etude? And did Chopin give it that name himself? He was very conservative politically (almost medieval in fact) so it seems odd for him to call it that.

  • @susumu07 Chopin named it that in honour of the failed Revolutionaries whom he was friends with who participated in the failed Polish Revolution from Russian occupation. He composed it to show how he felt about the defeat.

  • THE EARTHQUAKE HE CREATED BY BANGING THE PIANO AT THE FIRST OF THIS VIDEO MUST HAVE BEEN OFF THE RICHTER SCALE!!!!!

  • @lancybodancy nice pun :D

  • @lancybodancy And we shouldn't forget, that richter's scale maximum value is infinity :D

  • @lancybodancy hahaaaaaaaa good1 :D

  • @lancybodancy

I say, your Richter Scale quip gave me a good chuckle and the reflection "why didn't I think of that!?"

His, he bashed it with more power than any karate professional could. I was entranced.

    Cheers.

  • @lancybodancy -lol

  • @lancybodancy LOL

  • I had heard this in a performance and did not know the name. I was searching for this piece for long.. now it goes in my Big List 'to play'

  • absolutely perfect... I initially thought it was a bit too fast, then I realized that the recording is a bit speedy. you can notice it because it is almost C#m

  • God, how I LOVE Richter! By far the most captivating pianist that ever lived.
