My AI is all home made. I look for the best AI models (The L-10 AI's are in fact the Aerosim model ith DXT3 photoreal paints) . I do photoreal paints for the normal AI models also.
I need my AI to look damn good otherwise I may as well not bother.
Because the definition of the people bitmap is sooooo small. I editted my FSSE to make custom people. FSSE turned out to be such a pile of poop...but if someone did it properly it could be very useful.
Routine eh? I just had a quick glance at your latest video. 8 minutes of looking at the same wing shot with some lame music.....I think it's maybe your vids that need spicing up. lol
Actually Ed, I'm sort of with him. Don't get me wrong, your videos are really cool and I love watching them, but I think a lot of people (including me) would very much like to see an emergency or something a bit different if possible.
And on 8:23 you've shown us a great view over the city of ostend. Wonderlfull to see the "spuikom" on fs! I would love to see more of your Ostends scenery next time!
Nice to see your DC-8 panel again, Ed, and I love Aerosim's external model, too. I have the -53 and -61 models from the "Classic Liners" package, and I think they're the best examples out there. And of course, nice shout out to the Tristar's as well!
5/5 as usual! Nice to see an old DC-8 flying again, and with the old turbojets too!! What model is that, Aerosim? I don't know of too many other with a VC for FS.
Could you do a video detailing how you set up your approaches and stuff? I'd love to try some other approaches such as RNAV and get them as realistic as yours but I'm not sure how to go about it. Thanks.
You wil need to know how to read charts and how to use your instruments to perform that approach (ADF/OBI/HSI/RMI/DME) etc. Most aircraft featuring dual FMC can follow SID or routes preselected on the CDU without having the need to manually fly the route. However I would recommend how to fly to and past VOR's, NDB aproaches/DME/NDB arc, non precision and precision approach, ILS approach etc just to familiarise yourself with navaids and how to fly these procedures. It all makes sense later.
1000ft if poss...usually 500...200ft if unsure. If your aircraft is not configured correctly you can be in for a surprise if you disconnect the autopilot too late. lol
For the smoothest touchdowns best to get it off as early as poss IMHO so you are in complete control of the aircraft (trim, power settings etc)
Just to add to that, in general your aircraft should be in final configuration for landing (Flaps set, final Approach Speed set, Gear down, Speedbrakes armed, auto-brakes (If applicable) armed) no later than 1000ft.
How you did that?

Very good Video, it's new to see a DC-8 in FS9 ;)
Is the DC-8 from Aerosim good (Funktionality etc.)?? Please tell me.
Thanks Kay

Hello Kay, I am not really the right person to ask as I never used the Aerosim DC-8 panel....all I wanted is the model.

Hey Ed, love your work. Based on your love for old aircraft, was wondering why you don't have any 727's- or do you?
kramerdc9 2 years ago
I will get to the 727 in the end. The L-10, DC-10, B707 were all part of my childhood....I never really knew the 727.
Still it is definitely a golden oldie along with the fantastic TU-154.

how do u make us sim look so realistic? by the way where did u got the plane plz reply =]
dva511 2 years ago
Well FS9 is a good start (I find FSX looks like a cartoon), then everything I do is photoreal (aircraft textures, panel etc)
The model is by Aerosim (the freighters model is the best by far)
edetroit 2 years ago
can u do a tutorial of how u make ur addons photoreal? or do u have a website so ppl can download thems?
dva511 2 years ago
Search Edward Cox at avsim(dot)com

Ok right, They do look darn good think I need to learn how to do that because just cant find some liveries
I need. a simple one being a Cayman Airways DC 3
circa 1966. They only had one, that i used to ramp handle often but it got sold. I do have a photo of it the real one
I took back in 1968

Thankyou Jeff!, have you got your rig up and running yet?.....just bought a new one myself.

I mean crew.
I wonder why all the people in the sceneries in general
have such ragged blurred edges and look like postage stamps "In General" seems like they could make higher quality people as in other Video Games

Is this full blown Fraps Im still using Demo becuase was afraid something better might come along to replace it. I use FS recorder as well.
Im wondering do you use the straight Fraps clips when you edit vids with Sony Vegas or convert them.
If you dont mind
dbarl64 2 years ago
I found a registered copy of Fraps provides much better frame rates.
I import the Fraps clips into Sony Vegas...edit them...then Sony Vegas converts the end result into MPeg4
edetroit 2 years ago
ok Thanks ed MPEG4 that sounds good
I will try that. Nice DC8 engine sounds
they have that particular trademark whine like the real thing.

impressive panel editing skills, such a shame they won't be given to public :)
I tried editing pmdg 737 with photo bitmaps, but i failed as pmdg gauges are protected... i love your 737 classic panel, this is my favourite :)
spitfiremk9 2 years ago
thaks for that, it's just I'm on fs2004 now descending a 757 into Heathrow with a 16kt headwind, quite tricky approach conditions you see
Ben123planes 2 years ago
Hmmm headwind is good...crosswind is more tricky...gusting even more so.
edetroit 2 years ago
is it, first time I've ever had a headwind so just trying to see whether to do an auto land or manual, Captainsim gives you lots of choices
Ben123planes 2 years ago
You want to learn to fly your aircraft right?...manual every time!
How anyone can let their computer have the best moment of flight is beyond me.
edetroit 2 years ago
Thanks ed, I flew manual from 800ft and did a smooth touch down, on 27R
Ben123planes 2 years ago
Top man!
edetroit 2 years ago
at what height do you normally go to manual?
Ben123planes 2 years ago
1000ft if poss...usually 500...200ft if unsure. If your aircraft is not configured correctly you can be in for a surprise if you disconnect the autopilot too late. lol

Hey awesome video!
Whats that program called where it says things like a First Officer? like "Starting Engines"?
Mattyheli 2 years ago
I have coded the callouts into my panel.
edetroit 2 years ago
How? Is there a special program?
Mattyheli 2 years ago
How?, you need to learn how to program gauges. I actually wrote the code using notepad. The avsim panel and design forum should be your first stop.
