The House of Lords was infiltrated by hardcore Communists under Tony Blair's rule. -True- Lords are in the minority now, Blair wanted it that way. Very few of the Lords are actually real Lords now (as in, from nobility).

"What the essence behind this is public order.." so in other words, Britain is afraid of the wrath of Muslim community. They are scared that Muslims might retaliate in some sort, wreak havoc in GB's media and streets.

Well, usually when there is a fear of public disorder being caused by specific community, that's precisely the reason why said community should NOT be appeased in any way, politic or civil way. Said community should learn that it cannot impose their pressure on democracy!

@Baledwyr - If I had power (and I don't) I'd have a Republic where the monarch is elected from a pool of highly educated and diplomatic people...and the Lords would be made up of previous members of parliament and peerage would only be for life.

But as I said...I don't have power and never will hehe.
