First Christians did not originate 300 years after Yeshua, they go back to Acts 8. The Ethiopian was the first who spread Christianity, and then in 330AD Ezana declared Christianity as a state religion. Shaul of Tarsus? No Christianity is based on the Gospels, which has a variety of writers who wrote biographies about Yeshua's life.

The new covenant is spoken about first in the book of Jeremiah. The old covenant that God had established with His people required obedience to the Old Testament Mosaic law. Because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), the law required that people perform rituals and sacrifices in order to please God and remain in His grace. The prophet Jeremiah predicted that there would be a time when God would make a new covenant with the nation of Israel.

There is no conflict with Matthew 5. The Ten Commandments were part of the old covenant. Jesus was not in conflict with the old covenant as the priests, scribes and pharasees of the day suggested. And lest people think that Jesus came to bash the law and prophets of the Old Testament, Jesus Himself stated that He did not come to destroy the law and the prophets. He came not to destroy, but to fulfill (Matt. 5:17).
