I LOVE my FJ, remember this is meant to be a all terrain vehicle, not a plush SUV, not a green gas miser, I have 2011 4X4 with off road pkg, comes with synthetic oil, change every 10,000 miles,all have back up camera now, I have taken it out after bad snow storms being one of the first out, with pulling out other 4X4, going about with great ease, is very very smooth around town, can get louder on x-way. VERY RUGGED feeling, loves going off pavement, I think it smiles when you turn on dirt road.
Oh....and i forgot to mention.....i got 2 (headlamps)...bought from REI...the ones you use for camping and can wear on your head.......Well, i use them as Maplights!!!! I have attached them to my side visor above......Works Great!!!
I luv my FJ Cruiser.....luv the suicide doors..the waterproof interior..fits my beach lifestyle......i fixed my rear space problem by raising the back up by cutting out chipboards about the same size..i used 3..you need to change the measurements a bit for that incline. ..then i remove the rear seats out...unscrewing the red knobs......AND Voila....i got space for sleeping...have Ikea mattress and comforters in the rear.....Working Well for me =]
the fj is fun to drive and i have never had a problem seeing out. I use the back up sensor but only if i have a tall load in the back or my back window is not clear(snow / ice) ive put 33k on mine and the only complaint i have is the rear cargo area is not to good of a design.the rear seats fold down but wont lay flat so half of the cargo area is at an angle. other than that a removable top would be great.
@flurryandtito I LOVE my FJ; wouldn't trade it for anything else. Mine's an 09 with all packages/options. I've clocked about 26k since feb this year. On my end, there's really not much to complain about. However there are a few little things: no telescopic steering wheel, the clock should have been angled toward the driver, or in a different spot. Also, I wish there were built-in places in the seat cushions for the headrests when the seats go down. Other than that, the FJ is perfect for me.
The clock's location can be moved. It takes some disassembling the housing but that is not hard to do either. Once you have the housing open you can place the three pods in any locations. Then reverse the disassembly and you are done.
@cobalt120 i've had mine since february of this year, clocked about 26k on it, and with mostly highway, city and country road driving (hardly any off roading so far), i've managed to hit 24mpg on the highway, but as for the city...i think it was a little over 15.5. Even though it's a pretty thirsty truck, I still love it to death.
went in his lab as a dare the boys were never found again were aparently murdered . now that u have read this comment when you go to sleep the 2 boys and fredrick will come and kill u but u can stop this by posting this comment of 5 other videos by midnight. sorry.
I test drove one of these and really likes it a lot. I thought the ride would be very rough, but I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was.
what about front leg room? im 6'4" and thinking about getting one for crystal mountain for my job up there, i need to drive myself and need a good comfy, safe vehicle that i can fit in lol... looks like a nice SUV but i havent been in one before =/ please reply =D
mmkay, thanks for answering anyways =D i found one yesterday im probably gonna get so i am gonna go look at it this weekend hopefully and ill tell ya if i have enuf legroom.
Fuel economy is fair, and reliability is good. Match that to an underpowered gas sucking 5cyl H3 soon to be extinct backed by a company headed down the crapper. Hmmm, witch do i choose?
Sure Bubba, guess you haven't driven one! Keep driving your kind, I'll happily stick with the Toyo's, great warranty, long life, good value, highest resale value around, and they straight up perform- What more could you want?
yeah but lets talk about value and Gas Prices and How long and strong will the discovery Last and how much do u pay when ur fixing and remember that after market selling toyota is the most recommended Just my 2 cents

@TCB1468
The sorrento is also a body on frame SUV that's becoming a rarity nowadays.

What's the fuel economy on this machine ? Your results not the govt results please.>
city, hwy, off road?
I know that some of the older models had 4x4 locked (full lock) . This one does not seem to have a full locker.

@FJCruisin09
Thanks for the input. The FJ's i tried get about 17mpg in winter on the highway in 2wd hi.
For it's mass the FJ should do 30mpg HWY in winter.
No less.
Thanks again

You better have someone sitting in the backseat looking out and directin you where to go when backing up. Too many blindspots, its terrible.
tyu3o 3 years ago 2
i dont know why u had a thumbs down cause its true i have one and you realy have to rely on your rear view mirrors and that back up sensor
nelson4568 3 years ago 3
@nelson4568 - Some people think a lil criticism is a diss to the whole toyota brand i guess.
tyu3o 3 years ago 4
thats why its got sonar sensors on the rear bumper and massive side mirrors
skiatomic08 2 years ago
Actualy the owners manual recomends premium , but it is not required. The dealer will tell you the same thing as will many FJ forum members.

What about fuel economy (the hidden cost of ownership) ???
Reliability (see Consumer Reports) ???
If I were to buy a vehicle based solely on looks, there is no match for the Hummer.
But for my money, there is a better vehicle in it's class.
