Go Girl you look great... i,m 1 year post op and have lost 130lbs and i,m at my target weight . videos like this inspire people to have the surgery when doubts set in pre op..if anyone is thinking about surgery don,t hesitate..yes it has its risks but the new life you will be getting in return makes it all worth while ...DON,T HESITATE DO IT ..
I am in the rime of decision if or not I will do the surgery - I saw all your improvements and you look great. COngratulations. I would love to know how are you now after 2 and half years - please keep us updated - THanks for sharing your story with us :)
I am now 3 1/2 years post op. I have lost 182lb in total and down from 374lb - 196lb. I am waiting to save money for loose skin removal and once I have got all of this removed then I will update my video's. It has not been an easy journey and the hardest thing now is keeping the weight off. I am starting to gain weight again now but don't really know why. I haven't changed my diet but have stopped exercising as much and think this maybe the key. I am due to start the gym Monday.
You look wonderful. This is my third week post gastric bypass. I know that it has not been easy for you. I no longer have diabetes and I no longer take blood pressure medication. I previously took 6 blood pressure pills a day and still had very high blood pressure. God Bless you and thanks for the encouragement.
Nice :-) so wonderful. One question, in the first month or two after surgery how long do you have to wait after each "meal" before you can eat / ingest again? Thanks.
I started eating soft foods around 4 weeks after surgery and by 2 months I was eating more or less normal foods. At the beginning lots of foods got stuck. Now rice, bread and pasta still get stuck on occasions but the key is to eat slowly.
Just what I needed to top my motivation for loosing weight :) I am still in the period where I have to loose weight before surgery. I haven't been eating candy and so on since 20 of May. And I am exercising. Still needing a bit to get the surgery.. I hope I will get it in October :)
Thank you so much for the inspirational video, which really keeps me going :)

I think you look amazing!! Great Job! I am going in May to speak with the surgeon about heaving this surgery. And although it scares to have surgery I want to live!...I weight 340 pounds now. wow, you look great! gotta ask...everyone I know who has had gastric bypass has lost alot of hair...your's still looks thick & beautiful throughout the year- what's the trick? Great job on your accomplishment!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful, inspiring story! I am planning on having Bariatric surgery as well- having battled my weight since childhood and now @ 39...it is my turn to pick up this "tool" as part of my recovery from Compulsive Overeating. I just hope I am close to looking as gorgeous as you! =)
I am finished my 6 month diet history..still a few more steps, but probably in late Feb, March or april....no worries, GOD is with me...I'd be a dummy to go in the operating room without HIM! I mean i know those doctors are skilled but I WANT/NEED the great physician in there with me...all those getting the surgery, ask JESUS to be in ther with you, all beleivers that is...Jesus is LORD, forever!
Thank you for sharing your story. Congratulations on your success. I have battled with my weight my entire life and will begin my journey on November 30, 2009. I had my first visit with the bariatric center on October 15 2009 and since then have lost 20 lbs. I look forward to feeling better and being able to do more. You are an inspiration to so many! Thank you!
WOW you look amazing and much much younger- VERY VERY HAPPY for you!!!
some people dont un derstad what a struggle it is to be overweight and how hard itis to losethe weight so be very proud of yourself girl and ignore certain comments as they are meaningless to your achievements.
YAY! Congrats to you! I'm considering gastric bypass...I'm in the 200's and after seeing your video, I'm even more convinced! Congrats to you again! Stay happy and healthy!
salsha68, YOU GO GIRL, I don't know you, but wow! congrats you look fantastic and so much happier and healthier! I hope this doesn't sound rude, but I am so proud of you! I know the weight struggle, and how hard it is to change! With the help of modern medicine and hard work, you are achieving your goals, and that is something to be soooo proud of! Keep up the great work, and just brush off the ignorant skinny people that haven't got a clue!

this should not be an inspiration, she should have never let herself before like this, ever hear of a balanced diet. This is a very intrusive operation just to get cos someone enjoys her jammy dodgers.
For your information I hate jammy dodgers and I suggest as you know nothing about my life or my lifestyle your comments are just ignorant. People like you are what I call a waste to society.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually im in third year general medicine, so no i am not a waste to society, and i dont really think sitting on the couch all day is a lifestyle, im thinkin your a little uneducated to understand but its called a balanced diet, not just a government payed operation costing an average of 5 grand. No, i think people like you are a waste to society, i dont mean to be mean.
Once again I find I have to reply to your ignorance. I am degree educated (not like you as you haven't qualified as yet). I work full time in a professional capacity and never sit on the couch all day. I really suggest you equip yourself with a bedside manner and interpersonal skills before you embark on a career in medicine or the GMC will be on your back the minute you are graduated. Please do not leave ignorant, derogatory comments on something you clearly know nothing about.
Wow i haven't qualified cos im 20 years old, why i would love to know what degree you qualified in. I have great bedside manner but just because it is mandatory to have a bedside manner dont now mean i have to keep my opinions to myself, wasnt that just stupid saying that?. DId you have alot of problem with the excess skin? its an indicator if a bad way to loose weight. My comments arent ignorant or degrading its just the truth
its strange how a medical student doesnt know how to spell. its PAID not payed. Grow up and stop pretending your something your not. Ifeel YOUR the waste of space!!!
Can i also say that obese people cost more to the nhs than any other. Surely getting people to a healthy weight with a 5 grand op is a small price to pay for saving the nhs millions a year
@fizzypopbp1 first and foremost people that are obese don't just sit around. I weigh twice my weight and I still exercise and probably do more then you do. It just obviously isn' enough. Secondly since when is this operation government paid. I am playing 25,000 out of pocket to pay for my gastric bypass.
@fizzypopbp1Those who don't self pay... Pay for their insurance and their payments and coverage cover the cost of the surgery... There for they are paying for it. It seems to me that you are calling uneducated and trying to debate about issues you have no knowledge about. Obesity is a disease would yo say the same things to someone with a better known disease, like cancer that they are a waste of space and should die. People die every day of being obese, and sometimes not eating doesn't help
@fizzypopbp1 You really have -0- clue what your talking about. This surgery is no easy fix or easy way out. It takes much more courage to have this then you could ever imagine. You don't just have the surgery and poof drop all your weight this is only a tool to help not a fix all. Don't throw nasty mean judgemental comments about a person before you know her personal struggles. If you are as smart as you say then you should already know lifestyle is not to only reason for obesity!

@fizzypopbp1 I'm thinking you're a little uneducated seeing as how you said "your" instead of you're. And a better sentence than ," I don't mean to be mean" would be, "I am not trying to be mean", that way you are not using the same word twice in one sentence. But, hey, you're a Dr. to be so I'm sure you think you are all knowing. . Carry lots of malpractice insurance...
@fizzypopbp1 I agree with you that this shouldn't be inspiration to anyone. It makes me sad that people actually end up in such a state that they actually consider getting this kind of surgery. But it makes me even sadder that people aren't informed of better alternatives. I don't doubt it's difficult, and it's obviously not out of laziness either. But the majority of people see it in black and white, and look for quick fixes, which is why the weight loss industry thrives.
Wow, your vid gave me the shivers. What an amazing achievement ! Many Congrats! Your looking incredible ! (and believe me, even before the GBS, you looked gorgeous, so yeah!)
I hope you achieve your goals, sincerely. Big hgus from France =) xxxxxxxxxx
Thank you for the inspirational pictures. I am hoping to have my surgey in October and am wondering what I could look like after a year of hard work.. Most of the pics I have looked at are of women who started at 240# or so;I can't wait to be 240#. I am 325 pounds and so many of those pics don"t really show what can happpen to me. Thanks for renewing my hope.
I am starting this journey and your transformation makes me see that it will be worth it, I want walk without seeing 3 more butts wiggle behind me I want to be able to run and play with my new grandchild, congratulations you look beautifull!
Dear Madam, amazing transformation, my compliments, what an achievement. I salute you. I will have the GBP surgery in september of this year. Sick and tired of the health issues at 344 pnds. I want to do this for a good health and freedom of movement. You are an inspiration, thank you for taking the time to make this video so we, poor frighten pre-ops like me, can be encouraged. Thank you again!! Josy from Holland.
What up, sis...i will have it in dec-feb. hoping to have it dec 09, so i can heal during the winter break...To God be the glory, in Jesus name, we are going to be heavenly HOT this time next year___if not sooner. Much succcess!
wow !! congratulations truly an amazing transformation, your video has given me hope - thank you. I take several medications that made me go from 81 kgs to 167 kgs in 11 months!! I am having gastric bypass surgery in a couple of months and am very scared, but its people like you that give me hope so thank you again.
I am getting ready to have it. Why have you been so sick? Can you share your experience with me? Are you glad you did it yet? I hope you will be ok! Did you have a good doctor?
i did mine 2 months ago and i never been more happy for myself - let talkers talk and haters hate, and by the way this is not bucking easy its damn hard only eating like a baby when for most of your life, you ate what the hell you wanted to eat
Anyone who thinks weightloss surgery is "the easy way out" is crazy. You look amazing and are doing a wonderful job!! I am getting everything set up for the lap band and I hope I do as well as you are!! again you look beautiful
I am not implying diet and exercise are the easy way at all but surgery isn't the easy way either. One in 50 people die having this operation. I made a will and was scared to death I died having it. Since my surgery 2 years ago I have lost 182lb to date. I have to watch my weight as you can still eat sugary foods, I have to diet regularly. surgery shrunk my stomach so I don't each as much thats all. surgery is hard, its not easy. Your life changes over night. I find some comments ignorant.
I love your story. For me, I wasn't always heavy my whole life. Not until I was 25. It was like I woke up one day and was like "What happened?" Then I tried every kind of diet, I've worked out extensively for 6 months, seen zero results, then gave up. Now I've been vegetarian and working out 5 days a week for a year now and although I don't gain, I also am not loosing weight either. My gastric surgery is next month. ratcel has no idea you can work so hard and change every bad habit and need help
No matter what, people will always have their own thoughts on the surgery. However, I believe what u did was what was best 4 u. Some people dont understand that but thanks 4 such a good video! Im 240 trying to get down to my orginal weight of 120. Im not getting surgery ( 4 my own reasons) but love watching all these great weight loss videos.

I´m sorry, but with all respect it´s very ,very ,honestly and truly sad that you had to get a surgeon´s help to get your actual weight (by the way is really great) but your great story has not even a little of greatness because you didn´t do anything to reach it...no discipline, no fight against your hungry or bad habits... just a simple surgery... I´m sorry but , even you look great now , it´s not something to applause you.
Hi thanks for your comments and they are much appreciated. However, I really do think you need to walk a mile in my shoes before you pass judgement around no discipline, or bad eating habits. Surgery is only a tool to help me lose weight and I still get hungry...have to manage my weight and do lots of exercise. You are not aware of my circumstances prior to surgery so to just make a throw away comment without the facts shows ignorance and nothing more.
Congrats, I will probly get the Surgery too, should be arounf October. Don't let them get to you, they don't know how it is. They think the operation is the Only you have to do..... Like you said it's Only a Tool to help you, you still have to work at it. I had 2 Accidents that left me with a bad knee and hip that I will probly need a replacement in the Futur... having that has caused me to gain weight.
I am sorry but you obviously have no knowledge of the surgery. There are more scarafices than any other "normal" person would have to make to loose weight. You need to do some more reading up. This does not happen with surgery alone. It requires a VERY strict diet and exercise routine for the rest of your life.
hello though you have a great smile in all shots i know this wasnt easy what was hard about it iam scheduled to do mine next monday and scared out of my mind
hi, like alot of people i am also getting ready for gastric bypass and wish there was more people like you with such a positive attuide. every one is trying to turn me of and saying it is too dangerous but you have just proven to me there is hope. i have been trying to find some done in australia but most of the videos are from america. hope our aussie specialists are as good. keep going on your journey and good luck.
well the first week was HELL straight up lol but i feel better now a bit soar still but i think iam ok 23 pounds so far. i just pray to God there are no complications
I was shocked to find the scale read 175 lbs. I gasped when it went up to 200 lbs. I swung back and forth between 275-295 lbs. I stepped off the scale at 309 lbs in total silence. Something has to be done. I get winded climbing 2 flights of stairs, I'm going to need knee replacements before I am 50. I am just so scared about having surgery, your video has inspired me. I have no idea where to begin, who to call, what to ask, can you help me?
you just made me cry with this beutiful video. you give someone who just had gastric bypass hope and faith that on those bad hard days in the long run we can get there. thanks for shareing!
all i can say is that.....ur a vision of perfection....u r an inspiration..watching ur video will motivate me to get over my fear of the gastric bypass surgerythnx.and congrats..

I currenly weigh about 320 and my goal weight is 175 or lower (I am crossing my fingers...LOL) Thank you for being an inspiration to many. -brandi
Fantastic and congratulations. I have a son that is only 16 and very large. I am so afraid for him and love him but I bleive he is too young for something this dramatic. I wish I could motivate him to exercise.
You are still beautiful even though you are fading away in front of my eyes. In your eyes, the light, the heat is coming back. Congratulations and a happy anniversary to Roo En Why too, love Alex xx

this should not be an inspiration, she should have never let herself before like this, ever hear of a balanced diet. This is a very intrusive operation just to get cos someone enjoys her jammy dodgers.
fizzypopbp1 2 years ago
For your information I hate jammy dodgers and I suggest as you know nothing about my life or my lifestyle your comments are just ignorant. People like you are what I call a waste to society.

Actually im in third year general medicine, so no i am not a waste to society, and i dont really think sitting on the couch all day is a lifestyle, im thinkin your a little uneducated to understand but its called a balanced diet, not just a government payed operation costing an average of 5 grand. No, i think people like you are a waste to society, i dont mean to be mean.
fizzypopbp1 2 years ago
Hi
Once again I find I have to reply to your ignorance. I am degree educated (not like you as you haven't qualified as yet). I work full time in a professional capacity and never sit on the couch all day. I really suggest you equip yourself with a bedside manner and interpersonal skills before you embark on a career in medicine or the GMC will be on your back the minute you are graduated. Please do not leave ignorant, derogatory comments on something you clearly know nothing about.
salsha68 2 years ago 2

Surely getting people to a healthy weight with a 5 grand op is a small price to pay for saving the nhs millions a year
bonnyblack 2 years ago
@fizzypopbp1 first and foremost people that are obese don't just sit around. I weigh twice my weight and I still exercise and probably do more then you do. It just obviously isn' enough. Secondly since when is this operation government paid. I am playing 25,000 out of pocket to pay for my gastric bypass.
WLJwithCyndi 1 year ago
@fizzypopbp1Those who don't self pay... Pay for their insurance and their payments and coverage cover the cost of the surgery... There for they are paying for it. It seems to me that you are calling uneducated and trying to debate about issues you have no knowledge about. Obesity is a disease would yo say the same things to someone with a better known disease, like cancer that they are a waste of space and should die. People die every day of being obese, and sometimes not eating doesn't help
WLJwithCyndi 1 year ago

But, hey, you're a Dr. to be so I'm sure you think you are all knowing. . Carry lots of malpractice insurance...
dewieee123 1 year ago
@fizzypopbp1 I agree with you that this shouldn't be inspiration to anyone. It makes me sad that people actually end up in such a state that they actually consider getting this kind of surgery. But it makes me even sadder that people aren't informed of better alternatives. I don't doubt it's difficult, and it's obviously not out of laziness either. But the majority of people see it in black and white, and look for quick fixes, which is why the weight loss industry thrives.

I´m sorry but , even you look great now , it´s not something to applause you.
ratcel 2 years ago
Hi thanks for your comments and they are much appreciated. However, I really do think you need to walk a mile in my shoes before you pass judgement around no discipline, or bad eating habits. Surgery is only a tool to help me lose weight and I still get hungry...have to manage my weight and do lots of exercise. You are not aware of my circumstances prior to surgery so to just make a throw away comment without the facts shows ignorance and nothing more.
salsha68 2 years ago
Congrats, I will probly get the Surgery too, should be arounf October. Don't let them get to you, they don't know how it is. They think the operation is the Only you have to do..... Like you said it's Only a Tool to help you, you still have to work at it. I had 2 Accidents that left me with a bad knee and hip that I will probly need a replacement in the Futur... having that has caused me to gain weight.
thanks for posting
GroomerGuy 2 years ago
I am sorry but you obviously have no knowledge of the surgery. There are more scarafices than any other "normal" person would have to make to loose weight. You need to do some more reading up. This does not happen with surgery alone. It requires a VERY strict diet and exercise routine for the rest of your life.
