Why does the 70-80 car around the :47 second mark have groved tires on it? They didn't start using those style of tires unitl 1997-99? Just a question not that I'm bashing the ad.

Dunno, every car in the 70s used slicks pretty much. In the 60s they had rain grooves on them. The only car with slicks in this whole video is the 50's car. I guess they couldn't find slicks to fit the wheels of the 312B.

Because if you look at the official version of the commercial, there are parts of the road that are wet during that scene. Thus, the grooves are required on the tyres.

Shame they didn't include Gilles Villeneuve's V6 Turbo car from the early 80s's or Jean Alesi's V12 car from the early 90's. But they were fueled by Agip.
