  • It sounds icy to me. Shards of crystal, frosty.

  • @PhillipLWilcher Interesting! Associations with ice (and cold!?).

    :)

  • Enjoyed! one can sense your particular style very clearly here, darkness, contemplation,

passion...good work. The musical atmosphere created goes very well with the picture too.

  • @Angeloyur Thank you very much Angelo. I like contemplation! :)

Are you working on music at the moment?

  • @gonrolgonrol

    No problem :)

But of course (but thank you for asking). What would life be without music? ;)

We composer fellows need to just keep creating all the way! :)

(and keep sharing it in YT too).

  • @Angeloyur True, it is an integral part of us isn't it? :)

Good question: What would life be without music?

  • @gonrolgonrol

A mistake according to Nietzsche, perhaps a huge mistake, or perhaps plainly boring :)

In any case, we have more than enough reasons to keep working hard on it! :D

  • @Angeloyur Nice point!

Yes, Nietzsche played the piano and was very thankful for the existence of music! :)

  • Always great job! I enjoyed listening!

  • @teteroom Thank you Tete! Much appreciated!

  • exciting And beautiful!! Congratulations on this cool piece!!

  • @PhilPhilUSA Thank you very much Phil! :)

  • Wow!

And you know I like shimmering things. ... 8 D

A much under-utilized musical effect! - shimmering is.

And - Rolando ... this sounds like a first sketch of what eventually will become a masterpiece.

Some editing here - some expansion there ... and this lovely bud will bloom into quite a big marvellous flower!

I'm impressed with the amazing possibilities that this work presents. ... Store this one in a safe place and come back to it when you're ready.

  • @MB7classical Thank you Mark. I have actually gotten to an understanding with myself that I should sometimes not let go completely of a piece but rather have as a goal to take up the piece on later occassion- as you say when one is ready. I have reached this understanding amongst other thanks to comments from you.

  • @gonrolgonrol But don't hold back any work in progress from us! Share with us even what is unfinished. 8 D

  • amazing composition Rolando! must have been a killer on your right hand to keep up that accompaniment!

  • @TheGuyWhoJustShotYou Thanks Daniel.

Yes the right hand felt a bit sore after the first times playing this. Actually I intend the right hand part to be quicker than what is played here. So quick that one does not notice one note is played after the other.

  • Not bad; not bad at all! The more I listen, the more I like! (I can hear some Ravel?)

  • @foopleas Thanks, happy to hear it is not bad :)

Actually Ravel is one of the composers I've least experience with. So the piece may have elements that are equal to those in Ravels composition- but I would not know!

  • Very nice.

A lot of greetings and thanks

  • @halynamyroslava Thank you very much Halyna! :)

  • I'm just curious, what makes it contemporary style? How do you define it?

  • @Rickeeey1 Hi Rickey. To be a little more precise it is "'classical' contemporary".

I use the term contemporary since it is the definition of the music which is "classical" created after 1940s (?).

I would say that it is also (by me) defined as drawing structure and inspiration from classical traditions in western music stemming from the 1200 (?) to today including amongst other atonal music.

  • @gonrolgonrol

Well, I would say it's from about 1970 and later (or what is refered as postmodernism). Indeed postmodernism can be classified as a mix of styles (picking things from many different styles). I just thought that your piece sounded like a dark romantic composition (maybe similar to some of Beethoven's or Liszt's pieces).

  • @Rickeeey1 I very much agree and actually thought about it. But since I include the element here of dissonance (through the partly chromatic right hand) I did not want to label it pre-postmodernistic.
