You really do forget that this is a movie scene and it's Ed Norton acting. This is one of the greatest scenes in film history, easily up there with the Gofather's and Shawshank's and the like.

@MrSkosig It depends on each State and each Judge. It also depends on the charge: Capital murder, 1st degree, 2nd, Manslaughter....goes on and on! Also it depends on the District Attorney and if you take a Plea Bargain. If someone did get 20 years they may only serve a certain percentage for good behavior. There is really no way to answer that question fully without writing a few paragraphs of info. Hope that helps some!

I think this movie gives multiple viewpoints on the subject matter of racism. One is from a logical and statistical point of view like @billrock12 has. And there is a moral viewpoint that hate is baggage and we should all love eachother.

@doczg88 Actually, no. Even if they made up 1/3 of prisons, that does not mean 1/3 of blacks end up in prison. You're not accounting for recidivism, which is quite common in the US criminal justice system. Not to mention that the disparities in crime rates are largely due to large differences in socioeconomic status between blacks and whites. It's pretty basic sociology.

However, the core principle of White Nationalism is simply that white people should be able to be race conscious just like everyone else (blacks, latinos, asians). Political correctness tells whites that everyone else can be race-conscious, but not whites.
The fact that you feel you have to qualify yourself speaks volumes.

Large cities have parades celebrating Irish heritage. Plus, whites can generally define themselves on the basis of national ancestry, and not the general term white. The comments in this segment, were they not about race or religion, would be accurate. Distortion in media, citizens sense of entitlement, and raw human reactions that ends in violence and destruction that we try now as civilized people to cover up are all accurate. The issue with what is said here is that the character aims this solely at a few select groups of people. This is the deteriorating human condition we live in, not a problem of race. I think this movie gives multiple viewpoints on the subject matter of racism. One is from a logical and statistical point of view like @billrock12 has. And there is a moral viewpoint that hate is baggage and we should all love eachother.
I feel bad for the minorities that are trying fix their social issues (poverty) without relying on government aide. But the minorities that have a commitment to blame society and past social injustice (slavery) for their problems need to wake the fuck up.

You're not accounting for recidivism, which is quite common in the US criminal justice system. Not to mention that the disparities in crime rates are largely due to large differences in socioeconomic status between blacks and whites. It's pretty basic sociology.

Large cities have parades celebrating Irish heritage. Plus, whites can generally define themselves on the basis of national ancestry, and not the general term white. The groups you mentioned became race conscious due to racism and subjugation.
