Any definition of faith that might exist within it is completely irrlevant. Unless you believe that all of the animals on the planet at the time lived in walking distance of Noah's Ark.

@j919or You are completely incorrect. There are so many religions that teach what their god wants from them and they all contradict. The biblical god wants you to accept Jesus as your saviour so you can secure a place in heaven. The Islamic god wants you to accept Allah. And so on and so on...

My position that God exists stems from the realization made when attending to the ideas of consciousness. the materialist position taken to it's end forces one in that paradigm to say that one's experience IS a brain. That X=Y. But experience is not a brain, it is other and thus it's ontological reduction cannot be made and so consciousness destroys a material presupposition

Faith is the confidence placed upon a person or thing because said thing has repeatedly demonstrated a reluctance to deviate from a set behavior or function. Therefore reliability or trustworthiness can be said to be synonymous. This is Christian faith. Any other definition is not Christian.

Atheism is a state of being. Being without Theism. A- Theism. Without belief in a god or gods.
And it's the honest default position (we're all born as) until the day someone proves the existence of whatever they define what god is. So far there's no reason to believe a god or god even exists. And I could say there might be and we just don't have a reason to believe it yet, but the concept of a god defined by the abrahamic faiths is just self-contradicting and impossible. Therefore, no god.

I'd like to point out having an open mind does not mean you accept everything. It means you are willing to evalutate anything HONESTLY.
You will take whatever is given to you and apply evidence and reason to accertain if the claim is true.
Having a truly open mind is having a truly scientific mind.

If those were really the cornerstones of Christianity, then the beliefs of it would be different. Fear is a cornerstone of atheism, don't want there to be an accountability for the things we do. And atheists fear what they do not understand, and if they cannot fully comprehend something, they assume it is false.
