Clapton probably chose this song because of his love for cocaine. :) When Clapton discovered the songs of J.J. Cale made him do a lot of money, began to copy JJ Cale continuously. There is no doubt that Clapton is a great guitarist, but little of what he did was really written by himself. In most everything is inspired by J.J. Cale. Mark Knopfler also took great inspiration from JJ Cale, but tried to put something of his style. Clapton has never worried about it.
eric clapton didn't write cocain, jj cale did. then again rolling stone magazine placed kurt cobain higher than buddy guy in the top 100 guitarists of all time, so we can't rate texas terri too harshly.
First of all JJ Cale wrote the song, not clapton, but that has been pointed out here enough lol.
Second, is this the easy version? no licks in the intro, using bar chords instead of power chords, this must be for beginners, but anyway nice of the poster to take the time to post this vid
Errrrrrrrr... x that last comment LOL. I just watched a live vid and this is the way Clapton plays it. Some guitar hero just showed me a dif way with lots of extra needless crap in it =/ Sorry bout that dude.

Eric Clapton did not write "Cocaine". JJ Cale wrote it. Although many people don't know that because Clapton made it is own and the rest is history.
