I agree. The point is, none of use can control what happens to us. It's how we respond that defines us as a person. Lana was willing to kill. steal, lie, torture etc. Lana had control over her actions. Because she chose that behavior, she lost her innocence and purity. Lana became dark. I think the writers did that in an effort to separate Clark and Lana since Lana was never going to end up with Clark. There are so many Clana fans that they needed them to see Lana was not good for Clark,.
Lana faked her own death, framed Lex while stealing his money. She lied to Clark telling him the money was a divorce settlement. During the fake pregnancy she tried to renew her relationship with Clark concealing the pregnancy. When Laura met Lana she recognized the darkness in her. Lana enjoyed the games she played with Lex and Lionel called her Lex's equal. No one called Lana Clark's equal. Lana was decitful with Jason. She told him the stones didn't matter while she hide one of them.
@karoncful You have given many examples of the Lana's desperate attempts to survive. She never hurt anyone she cared for. She truly loved Clark. Lana started out as such a sweet, inoocent girl. Maybe Lana did have a dark side, but it was caused by Lex's decitfulness, Lionel's quest for power at any cost. and Clark's fear of intimacy and immaturity. Yes, Clark bears the blame for some of Lana's problems. Anyone who watched the show knows this whether they want to admit it or not.
@MsDebdardx4 I agree with you a lot happened to Lana, & Clark's lack of trust in her fed her insecurities. He may have thought that he was protecting her, but he hurt her. All the women in Clark's life accepted him for who he was, powers and all, and he never even realized it. In all honesty we all have a dark side including Clark. However, I am a Clois fan mostly because of the comics, and I like Erica a lot. But I totally rooted for Clana the first few seasons. They are both great characters.
@Caramartelli Thank you for your objectivity. Some people take this too seriously, and they get rude about it. Thanks for seeing both sides. I can say that Lois made a beautiful bride. Will they ever make a Superman movie with Tom Welling playing the part? Wouldn't that be great! Please, people, let's not start a debate about who is or has been the best Superman of all time. (LOL!)
Lana was vengenful against Lex and Lionel. With Lionel she was also sadistic. She kidnapped him, held him in a cabin chained to a bed and tortured him. She stole millions from Lex, stalked him, when she got Clark's powers she went after Lex to kill him. Lana was deceitful to all except Chloe, I think. In Season 7 when Clana was on the up and up, she lied to Clark continually while demanding honesty from him, started the Isis Foundation- everyone knew but Clark. Lana didn't trust anyone.
@MsDebdardx4 Clark and Lana had puppy love. There love was based upon lies. Lana was drawn to bad guys. She thought Bizzaro was Clark and preferred him and she married Lex Luthor. No way she deserved to be with Superman! Clark rarely kissed Lana it was alway Lana kissing Clark. Not so with Lois. There love was gradual and neither of them wanted it. Clark initiated the kissing and love making. He went after her because Lois is the love of his life - his soul mate.
@karoncful Thx for reply. Sweet, innocent Lana was tricked both times. I could feel Lana/Clark's love, but can't feel Lois/Clark's. They softened Lois up in the last season, but she still was too hard/brassy for Clark. Maybe I would have been more enraptured with Clark/Lois if I had not fallen asleep on almost every episode during the last disappointing season. i only watched last season out of a sense of loyalty. Haven't seen the finale yet. I hear that it is good. Glad Lex came back.
@MsDebdardx4 Lana was never going to end up with Clark. If Kristin was had not been such a good actress, the Lana character would have been gone after graduation. Lana was anything but sweet and innocent: a thief, liar, vengeful, deceitful, sadistic, etc. Lois is a strong woman with good self image and good ethics. Lois does what's right and good and is Clark's equal. In the rooftop scene in Homecoming you can see dynamic chemistry with Clois. The door scene in the finale was eipic!
@karoncful I tried watching the finale on the net, but kept going to sleep. I will be giving that another try - maybe in the middle of the day when I am not so sleepy. I did catch parts of it. I must admit Lois was a beautiful bride. I was really touched when Clark took her hand to lead her down the aisle. I can give CLOIS some credit, but I still prefer CLANA. When was Lana vengeful, deceitful, and sadistic? I must have fallen asleep on those episodes also.
