the Hotshots went on to become the Hi-Shots recording on Track Records with Cliff Bennett and released Here Come the Three Bears, touring extensively in the UK. I was the bass player with the band who appeared on Top of the Pops in1973
This was the first record I bought. I also bought 'Puff the magic dragon' at about this time. I was little! I think this record is cool and deals with history in a way an average eight year old could comprehend - I did!
I still have the original 1973 pressing of this on the Mooncrest label, and until now I had no idea it had gotten a CD release. Classic song and a great upload!
Cool. But I wonder why the lyric "so he asked the great pumpkin for a new battle plan" was changed to "so he had to think promptly of a new battle plan"?
I remember this song from when I was a lad I must have been about 8 at the time the 45 single was bought for me. Its still a good record today, but whatever happened to the Hotshots ?

i've had the pleasure to have worked with the bassist from the Hot Shots for the last 11 years and today he has retired. Good luck mate!

Thanks for putting this on,far superior to the original version by `the Royal Guardsman` in my humble opinion.
