If you ask me the elbow is unfortuneately under-rated and should be taken more seriously
As far as I know MUAI is not taught near Birmingham. The only place I know outside of Thailand, where one can learn MUAI and the other arts in the very traditional way of PAHUYUTH is Berlin, Germany.

the elbow is a very versatile tool. you can block and strike at the same time and it has many angles.
