british regulations now state that all pipes must be bed at least 5cm underground, i hit one the other week and i looked it up, so then i looked more into it, if it is less that 5cm, then the landloard/home owner must pay for it, but if you hit it and its lower, you pay!!! got me out of it by doing my research!!!
Me and my father were putting down hardwood floors today, and my father put a nail through a water pipe, I held a towel over the hole while he called up the water company to turn off the water, it was a terible situation. We got it fixed. But the pipe was only 1/2in in under ground! Stupid Builders in the 1960s I guess
My dad and I were doing an electrical job. We had to dig a trench through a front yard. I hit the water main (PVC, btw). It was bad. It was in Mt. Olympus (Very Upper scale area of Los Angeles). My dad wasn't mad (for once) and gave the people a $100 discount and we fixed the pipe.
Haha Yeah I've cut wires before, its going to happen to everyone at one point or another. And trust me law of averages you will hit a pipe too. Actually we should have stuck the gripper down, but we got the concrete gripper out and thought that would be fine. Ooops
