  • It's interesting Katherine is mentioning bruises on her knees. When Frentzen had his historic crash in Canada in 99 they modified the tub so the driver's knees were protected

  • I watched it live from Russia. I felt like OMG she died. The only thing i could say was "Another tragedy in motorsport. Safety improvements must be better" (in Russian) then when i saw her OK i said "THANKS GOD!" GOD IS OUR SAVIOR!

  • @international153 Thank the safety precautions in motorsport. Thank the improvements that have been made to motorsport, not god.

  • @MrIrishlogic: I saw it...

  • @MrIrishlogic: I'd like to see you trying!!! With NO FREAKING REAR WING!!! Even Will Power would have crashed!!!

  • there wasnt anything left that could have cought fire

  • Is she British, she sounds like she has a bit of a British accent?

  • @redplague Yes, she is an English racing driver.

  • The English flag is a bit of a giveaway at the start of the interview =)

  • Obviously not.

  • I got there first.

  • the kind is a deadly corner, glad she is ok

  • She's a race car driver. That's all that need be said.

More cajones than any of you will ever have.

  • Agreed!

  • actually the team she was with was alright then. She ended up driving for an even worse team like a year later with a no-name sponsor.

  • I'd put her against you in a car anyday. Her results had alot more to do with funding than talent.

  • Talented drivers continue racing in high profile series. Sponsorship depends on AIRTIME. Airtime depends on talent. The formula is simple:

talent + airtime = sponsorship + result = top shelf team offers

She obviously hasn't stacked up to world class racing standards. She's no Danica Patrick, but she is a nicer person.

  • Overly simple answer I don't agree with. Obviously you never been in the sport. Yes yes, insert snide come back here, we disagree, deal with it.

  • well she is racing in the German DTM now alongside the likes of Ralf Schumacher and Bernd Schneider which is a pretty high profile touring car series in Europe

  • wow...i had no idea...those touring cars are insanely quick...good for here

  • yes, DTM are almost F1 tech with tourism masks, its probably the most tech and fast tourism zserires all over, and she is doing a great job....wondering what about her in Indycar...??? i am sue she coul win there

  • u do realize that Danica never won an Atlantic race and i think Leg won 2 or 3...

  • Danica is terrible. Her airtime is soley from sex appeal, and she promotes it!

We've seen the commercials and pics.

Its really disgusting, it would be GREAT to have more women race car drivers but Danica sucks and has no merit. We need one with talent...I mean no one actually respects Danica, its always just "shes hot"

Anyway, that crash is brutal...thank god she made it out ok!

  • First of all, Danica DOES have talent. She may not be the top driver out there or anything, but so far this year she has out-pointed all but four (Penske and Ganassi) drivers in the IRL. I think her attitude has improved this year and the results are showing on the track. (My opinion of course)

That said, Katherine DOES have a few Atlantic wins, including her very first start. She needs a chance in an Indy car... Sarah has talent, but needs more backing...

    Milka is just...scary...

  • .....

    K

And yes, Milka Duno is amazing

  • @BSNFabricating: I agree about Danica, but I think that Simona Di Silvestro is the most talented female driver in IndyCar (4th place at St. Pete is NOT easy, even though Briscoe, Andretti, Helio and Dixon crashed)... I also like Sarah, Katherine (she was talking about coming to IndyCar) and Ana Beatriz (2 wins in the Indy Lights).

  • @PhilipTheBigOne

That's true... If I remember right, my previous comment was posted before Simona came to the IndyCar Series, when DP was on her way to 5th in points (2009). Having a teammate would help...and so would being able to stay away from EJ Viso on the track. She had a GREAT run at St Pete, and I think she will win a race pretty soon if she can avoid trouble, and beat Will Power. Ana finally seems to have some backing, she just needs some luck. Injuring her wrist didn't help things.

  • @BSNFabricating: Simona will get her win, I guarantee you!!! Especially if she goes to a stronger team (not that HVM is bad, but maybe a team-mate would help). She also has a better character than Danica (I believe). I mean DP is really aggressive and sometimes she puts the blame on others (like this year with Truex at Bristol, she got into him)... But I still like her a lot.

Simona is really straightforward and kind... She's more of a likeable person.

  • @BSNFabricating: About Ana now... If she can get some guidance, she can get REALLY far!!! Don't forget that she (unlike DP) has won in the US (Danica won in Japan). But she needs a stronger car, a good mentor and some luck. And yes, missing the Barber race with a broken wrist is NOT gonna help her...

Sarah Fisher is more like Simona: very popular with other IndyCar people, but never got the chance to show what she's made of.

Same with Katherine, I hope she races at Indianapolis...

  • @BSNFabricating: About Will Power now... Unless he has incidents with Helio (Edmonton last year, Long Beach this year), he rarely loses on a road course!!! It's kinda SCARY!!! Before he wins the title, he has to prove to me that he can win on an oval (I don't think he has EVER won an oval race)... Because Franchitti is good at BOTH (so is Helio, Dixon, Briscoe and Marco)!

  • Tough English bird, would'nt want to cop a right hander off her!

  • Thankfully the car spun round before the impact. If it had gone in front first she would not have walked away.

  • i was at that race

  • i was thinking of being her for halloween. Should i? Ok dont be mean!!!

  • or some female driver.

  • english girl there hard lol

  • Katherine I Love You !!!

  • I was sitting in the next turn (12) when this happened..so I didn't get to see it, but I heard everyone yelling over the intercom

  • Oh my, she got so lucky! Look at that car! Lucky girl! Thank goodness!

  • nice igot rapid reponse, its very intresting by the way

  • i was there when this happened, and i saw her walk by. i would have been freaking out. shes really nice and a great racer.

  • poor girl she got lucky, nice car and or mechanics how do you not check the damn rear wing

  • That was probably a part failure. I've seen the same thing happen to Kimi Raikkonnen at Silverstone one year when he drove for McLaren.

  • I believe a year or so ago both Penske drivers (Sam Hornish and Helio Castroneves) had rear wing problems and both came off.

  • Champ Car is the best Racing in the World Hope you will all be watching the Long Beach race in april

  • lol your joking right you ever hear of F1

  • lol your (sic) joking right you ever hear of A1

  • yes i have and you can calm down with your "(sic)" i know its you're, this isnt a formal paper." F1 has the best cars and technology so piss off.

  • Indy Racing League and ChampCar are talking again about merger. That will be the only way ChampCar won't be destroyed. They should do what it takes to suck it in and agree with what the IRL says. The IRL knows best, after all they are doing much better than ChumpCar and they know there goals and who they are appealing to. How do that new ChampCar chassis turn out? <LMAO!

  • Seriously this woman loves flying. She should train to be a pilot not a driver. Lmao. I'm glad she's fine coming out of all of them though.

  • Britsh stiff upper lip, lol. She's a tough 1!

  • wow dude this was pretty bad...i think the car needed some more downforce

  • Rear wing came off thats why she lost control

  • i know i saw the vid....but i beleive that if she had more wing...it wouldn't have broken off due to turbulance right?

  • i rember this it was so freaky

  • Wow,She's so hot. Great to see that Katherine walked away from that shunt. Go Girl!!!

  • wow very lucky girl

  • She's a beautiful woman :D

  • its good she walked away but champ car sucks now, it used to be so good back in the cart days now it sucks the racing is terrible and bourdais wins everything, the coverage is terrible as well

  • I was just at this track yesterday for the Le Mans Series, and I heard everyone talking about this crash, so i had to come home and look it up! Its crazY!

  • how the fuck did she survive that!

  • Holy Crap!!! the car was turned into shit !!

  • Those pukey announcers make me sick.

  • the coverage really sucks

  • Why did the monocoque break in half? That's supposed to be the part that remains intact.

  • The tub didnt break in half...The motor/gearbox/rear end all came off,But the tub is intact, as it should be, which is why she's alive.

  • Actually you could see my orange shirt breifly to the left at 3:05/3:06 My bad

  • At about 3:07 you could see me a tiny bit in that orange shirt off to the left

  • shes hot...

  • i dont believe i no have comment, just GOD can help katherine legge, is very lacky day for she

  • God, I can't believe some of the numpty comments above 'dissing' this girl. Everyone crashes, and this wasn't even her fault. She is one hell of a driver and can drive faster than any of her internet snipers could ever dream of doing!! Just you try getting in a Champ car and go as fast!! She has my total respect.

  • Speaking of breast, she needs a whole crew of bikini wrenches to service her car. I'm sure that was a conspiracy by a jealous crew-MAN. Just kidding, about the crewman not the big breasted, scantily dressed or bikini wearing crew of bi curious half lesbian mechanics.

  • I saw the race, i knew she was oke, cars are so safe at the moment

  • Champ Cars are designed for safety as well as speed, *and* she was super lucky. I'm so happy she walked away from it, and she shows her bravery, class and yes, "screw loose" in the interview. Whew!

  • Very very scary, and she walked away from it, one very very lucky lady.

  • She's not wrong about having a screw loose, is she! Scary stuff!

  • She had a part failure "torman," wasn't her fault, and the car isn't worth 3MM but of course you already knew that.

  • She makes a scrapheap out of a $3000000 car and then laughs about it?

  • If you took a few seconds to read about it before opening your mouth, you would find that the back wing broke off the car before the turn. You can hardly blame her for that.

  • I don't blame anybody. I'm sorry that u guys don't share my sense of humor. I think I can make a joke about it since she was OK and smiling afterwards, but obviously YouTube is a very very serious forum (NOT!)

  • A joking tone doesn't really come through when reading.

  • moron.

  • Have u taken an IQ test lately? My guess is that it's not very much over let's say 65-75?

  • Well it's not her fault the wing fell off.

  • I was there the other day, glad I wasn't standing in that corner.. Thats alot of debris.

  • I am not a fan of hers but that crash was scarey.

  • I watched this live on Eurosport last night, and saying that I was extremely scared would be an understatement. Thank goodness she turned out to be okay.

And that interview is just great.
