Looks like ecdfann lied. Dow's solar shingle is on the market now (Colorado, soon nationwide), while the fake Uni-Solar's shingle is still illegal to sell in the United States (lacks UL fire safe rating). Of course, even Dow will have problem selling these things, given that they are more expensive and less efficient than regular PV modules.

rhemi553 is an under-informed blowhard. He should study this topic before yelling about it. Any energy saving measure that has a recovery time of under ten years is ahead of the curve. Plus there are several government incentives that bring the cost down over the recovery period. This is an incredibly promising product and I'm studying hard! rhemi can call the local insulators about some blown in cellulose.

the cost factor... the robotic salesman fails to mention is ONLY $25,000 dollars. So let's say your electrical bill averages $250/month... it would take you 100 months to break even on your initial investment before you even began to enjoy the cost savings the system offers. and 100 months equals 8.33 years! YES... that's right eight years and 4 months before you even begin to have actually enjoy a savings in your energy bill! DOW IS JUST ANOTHER RIPOFF CORPORATION... OUT TO LINE THEIR POCKETS!

Dow keeps pushing back their roll-out (now supposed by END of 2011), now over a year and a half delayed, due to the moisture problem they haven't corrected.

Right off the bat, Dan, the Dow rep lied that the PowerHouse is the 1st BIPV roofing shingle to fit seamlessly with asphalt. Uni-Solar Ovonics, a subsidiary of the Detroit, Michigan company Energy Conversion Devices [ticker symbol ENER] has the U/L certified PowerShingle.
