  • @whitegxp313 I don't dispute that with the brembo track package it's a lil faster in the hands of a professional. But if you take the base 5.0 vs the SS it will lose period! I think if Chevy offered a suspension and gear upgrade it would be a different ball game.

  • @mustang372003 thats were i got my information is from research. i think it was hotrod magazine who was testing the 5.0 with superchargers and other boltons and with little over 500hp the "pistons disinigrate". they say you need to upgrade the pistons if you are to ad that much horsepower to a stock motor in the mustang . in time the motor will break if you race it to much. my boss who i work with is a mustang nut and he also got butt hurt when i told him that.

  • the car is wicked. anyone can argue the ford chevy rivalry but they are two different companies, that do things two different ways. ford builds their cars for boost, chevy puts a big ass engine in them. personally i like anything with a v8 sound and good performance. no car is perfect no company is perfect but both can turn out some badass rides.

My 04 GMC Sierra with the JBA shorty headers(4 into 1 into the CAT into one pipe out to the can,then the 2 tail pipes) sounds much better than this. Nice burble on my overrun, as well. Spits and barks when you let off the throttle. Stock setup for the Regency RST.Also, I ony have the 4.8 in my truck!

  • @cdnuge Forget not, what it takes to get those huge, "reliable" hp #'s with a modular motor...Mega boost, and/or stratospheric RPM. One thing that can't be argued, is that the blocks are very strong. As they must be, to handle the stresses put on such small displacement mills.

  • Ehh you cant put a 502 in a new Camaro haha, its kind of an unspoken truth that cars stock with EFI stick with EFI motors and carb cars stick with carb motors, like 2010 Camaros stick with LS series motors and 60's and 70's Camaros stick to 502s and 350s, although you do get the rare acception of an LS in a classic, best of both worlds

    I love the power, efficiency, simplicity, and gas mileage of the LS engines, i just cant bring myself to like the sound as much as a classic, too hollow for me

  • RaNdY04gt, the GM power ratings for the LS9 on the ZR1 Vette is 638hp, but that's at the crank and its also boosted, so at the wheels thats like high 400s or low 500s. but if you build an LSX right you could make that way faster, just depends on how much you are willing to spend.

  • its probably an lsx block which is similar to the ls series motor family bored and stroked to what ever you want

  • Basically yea, but there are differences that can become confusing, especially with the computers, for example you would need an adapter for the LS2 if your computer is LS1.

  • they say the stock valve train sucks and you should go with a better set up. what did you find when you took the engine apart? i here they are sub par. i want to change the cam in mine. stage 2 i think.
