i accidently bumped into a baby sparrow still learning to fly, i notice it have some torned up tail feathers so i toom it home since i have a small bird cage. I feed it crackers, but he doesn't seem to be drinking so i soaked the crackers in water, which seem to work. and it poops solid. any advice?
thats exactly like the bird i just found! Do you know what to feed it and how to open its mouth because it just stares at me and i know nothing of birds!
I found one too. i posted the video on my channel. every time i tweet it opens its mouth. i fed it cat food. it survived. when it could fly i let it free. i tried to make it as fat as i could so that it has extra energy to store and i failed... i found mine at a shelter during a thunderstorm

i came back at night to leave the baby i cuaght but no results mommy didnt come to the rescue that bitch. The baby even followed me chirping... i was like shit its guna die and put it back into a disposable cup(it literally crawled in). Now im a daddy im to young for this. I hope miens doesnt die like everyone else who tried to feed these things. Shuda left it in day when the bitch was around but i got scared she'd attack me. Stupid fucking mother left her babi to get runned over in strt. :(
i found one of these and had no idea what it was until i looked up how to feed birds lol i really dnt know what to give it but at least now i knw what bird it is and what to google ;) i found it on the ground a nest was in a vent up above (unreachable) the mother or father must have been teaching it to fly... the poor thing was on the street it was guna get runned over so i picked it up... i went back and the babies were crying mom came but i left scared lol came bak @night and
I currently have 5 baby sparrows. A bar owner took the nests down and didn't want them there. They are doing fine. One is half the size of the other four.
i one rescued a baby spearow. it was very close to me.i l took care of it for 2 months and then it started to get sick.after awhile it died in my hands.....i called it lil red....i miss the poor little birdie. :,-(
im looking after a sparrow and found it today and its so cute and i hold it and stroke it and feed it and it realy likes me cos it follows me. but it has a bald patch behind its wing where it may of cort wen it fell out of nest.
Hey, I found three baby swallows on the bed in my horses stable at around 9pm, their nest had broke somehow and one baby was still in it.. I put them up high near the nest so the parents could find them but they didnt acknowledge their existence so i have them beside me now.. They've eaten loads of food and are all asleep now for the night i think.. Looks alot like your little sparrow
last summer i cared for a sparrow i found trapped under a pool brush against the hot rocks. he was dehydrated and had one of his legs twisted. we gave him water and kept him in a cool environment. he only lasted 2 days, but it feels good that we kept him alive for as long as we could.
I feed sparrows bread every day. It is the most "REAL" thing I do, and I love it and they express such unguarded appreciation, which is fulfilling. I have thought it is time that we, who see their social and human-like charm, band together to call and end to the mindset that has established as their most commonly accepted collective noun a "humiliation of sparrows". Why not an "accolade" or a "bustle" of sparrows?
There is an egg on my front porch I have never seen a bird by it, and it's alone in a potted plant and I think it's a house sparrow, but I dont know if it could be a snake, its small and white with brown dots on it... I have no idea what to do with it it just showed up there and there hasnt been any previous eggs at/on my house.
hello, i rescued a baby sparrow on 28th April........... he is still alive, but i think his body is too small at his age.. almost a month ago, he just look bigger than your sparrow. and now the different is his mouth and body is bigger than the first day i meet him. but his head! is still very small............... T^T
a few moments a gray and black bird was attacking a little baby sprrow and i re4scued it reply back on why its breathig hard and how i make it wanna eat
30 min ago i saw a baby sparrow vid and now i'm looking through so many :( reminds me of one i had in 4th grade. it grew a nice size over 2 months and one morening found it dead. i remember how soft the feathers wer, the prickly feet on the skin of my arm, how it liked to snuggle in my hands or in my pockets, little jumps and chirps, learned to fly a little on it's own, liked to follow me around, sleep anywhere, uhh poop anywhere. i miss it. glad to ahve met it though, dunno if it was m or f
Aww so cute.I have taken care of atleast 30 for the last 4-5 years, they are quite noisy at times and at other they are soo quite.I have one right now i named fluffinnutter :P.
I just rescued one right now too, the mother keeps flying around my window but wont take the damn thing, the reason I have it is because my cat was chasing it, never hurt it though, just batted it around a bit.
Ill just wait until it learns to fly, I think thats what the mother is trying to show it to do, as it's still pretty young.
Two baby sparrows were trapped in a tube connecting to my AC unit. When I disconnected the tube, one flew up and out the front door. The other can't fly yet. I made a nest in a hat and put it on my back porch. I believe the mother has noticed it because it keeps franticly circling around the area and swooping down at it. I'm watching through the window, and the mother hasn't made contact yet. Will it take care of the chick?
i just found a baby sparrow and im guessing its around the same age as the sparrow in this clip b/c of the amount of feathers. It fell off a wire i suppose and im not sure what to feed it. so far ive fed it a few sunflower seeds and water. please help!
lol you dont have to teach it to fly! lol they naturally know look on google for baby bird care but also i'd recommend if it cant eat full seed and its all you have grind them up add egg youlk and milk with breadcrumbs and mash up the egg shells to a past then use a syringe to feed it till it start pecking at seeds and water. wish em the best!
Hi i found a sparrow today outside my house, it seems to be in shock as i think it fell from the roof , it is a baby i have put it in a box outside with water bedding and some bread crumbs but it wont eat is there anything i can do??
@pattyrecordable So did mine, after 2 weeks. She was almost dead the day I took her home but up until yesterday she thrived and chirped and followed me around the house. Then, yesterday morning she flipped onto her back and went into what looked like a siezure and died. sucks :(
i am looking after a spaarow at the minit. i think it was caught by cat. it keeps being sick and having random energy bursts. can anyone tell me what is wrong. and how can i help it. (it has been eating some seed and bread)
Thank you for trying to help, but sadly the same day that i sent this i was sat with it and trying to help it breath by wiping the sick out of its beak and it had another lot of seziures. It sadly passed away in my hands. Dad said that the seziures were its heart stopping. I hate cats!
Oh, I am so sorry :( Thank you for trying to save him anyway, you did your best. Unfortunately cat bites are usually lethal. Even if there's no outward injuries, they most often have internal injuries :( R.I.P little sparrow.
For future reference, any bird that's been in a cat's mouth requires antibiotics, even if it doesn't appear to have wounds. They're often undetectable and left untreated the bird dies a slow death. Is there a Bird Center or Animal Shelter around you where you could take such a bird in the event that you find a similar case? Sorry it didn't work out. :(

i used to have a small baby house sparrow, we found it a long time ago and we raised it. Then we let it go but it refused to leave so we ended up just calling its name in the morning and it would fly back to us for the day and we would release it in the night. then one day he never came back.
hi i think u will have feet problems with your house sparrow chick its called slip claw u must stick the back toe back to the leg for a few weeks so that the bones reset and your bird should be ok trust me i handle over a 100 young house sparrows a year when i have to ring them
True, very true. EverettChick, if anything you're displaying your idoicy, with your incorrect grammar and by calling poofybird an idiot in the first place.
well i breed house sparrows and i let go about 100 a year back in to the wild. the house sparrow is in decline and must be saved and how does the house sparrow cause the decline of other birds please tell me b4 i let 90 odd go in a weeks time
Well, house sparrows are very aggressive nest competitors, and they actually go into nest of some of our native birds like Eastern Bluebird and destroy their eggs and kill their chicks, so in that sense they compete with our native birds. But the fact still remains that the main reason for decline of our birds isn't invasive species, but things like habitat destruction, in other words humans :)
Look, mate, the ONLY reason that sparrow is in the US is because HUMANS brought it over. It's not the birds fault. It is entirely ours. In britain they are very endagered so, be thankful for them. You only have yourself.
So cute, they look really helpless at this age, many thanks for sharing,..........best wishes !

HorseyHaz 4 years ago
What do you mean by being sick? And by energy bursts, do you mean that he's just really alert and active, or does he have seizures?
If he's eating, that is a really good sign. How do the poops look? They should be fairly sold.
If there is internal injuries from the cat bite, there's really nothing you can do. But it sounds like he might pull through.
