  • I'm going to beg my parents to let me try her out! She is perfect! The adoption fee is $800 right? Me and my best friend want to share a horse, we are at about the same level and she seems perfect:)

  • aww, poor Javie. she seems nice and well trained. i would love to adopt her but we have no place to keep her. :(

  • shes so sweet :) i have a foster appoinment with her today its between her and orion :) love them both!

  • she's so calm for a 6 yr old

  • she's a gorge horse i can't see why ppl don't want to adopt her she soo cute!!!!

  • i really like this horse! i am a new to be volunteer and i hope i will see her when i am there! :)

  • Lol i love how he/she canters right after that little jump. he/she is sooooooo amazing and cute, wish I cud ride him. (sadly i can't because I'm not gonna buy a horse )

    SIGHHHH hahahahaha great riding 2!!

  • i went & looked at her today. she is beautiful! i am going back to ride her on friday (depending on the weather).

  • That's great! I hope things work out. This mare deserves a great home and she's loads of fun to ride. :)

  • Can she jump courses? Does she know how to change her lead over the jump?

  • Yes, she can jump full courses. She is still somewhat green over fences, so no, she doesn't yet know auto-changes or how to change leads over fences. She definitely has that potential, though, and would probably pick it up pretty quickly. She's very talented.

  • Great! My mom is going to call in and ask if we see her once the snow melts! Does she get strung out over courses or does she stay relatively calm (for an ex-racehorse)?

  • @horsequeen4life She does pretty well for being young and green. This mare loves to work and tries really hard. With the right rider, she'll go so far. Our trainer, Sara Nyman, can talk to your mom more about the specifics when she calls. Good luck! :)

  • thanks!

  • i went to the maryland horse expo & saw some of the horses. my mom & i are thinking about adopting one! (:

  • @xxlaxbabyyxx That's great! We have so many great horses looking for homes. :)

  • She, and many of your others, are just beautiful. Keep doing what you are doing!

  • @cheesmnky Thank you. :)

  • any health/lameness problems?

  • @astargirl101 She has dealt with stomach ulcers since she arrived, but they are under control now with 1/4 tube UlcerGard every morning. Other than that, she is pretty healthy. Although right now she is dealing with an abscess in her right hind foot, but that should be cleared up in another week or so. :)

  • @DEFHRhorses thats good. i hope she gets better soon =) im going to talk to my mother about adopting her soon, i think.

  • How is her ground personality?

  • Her ground manners are decent, but she does need more of an advanced handler, only because she gets impatient and antsy somewhat easily.

  • does she need spurs? or boots? is she calm?

  • She does not need spurs or boots, but we use both on her. The spurs are used just as training aids. The bell boots are extra precaution against throwing her front shoes. The splint boots are just for protection. She is off the track, so she can be sensitive to leg/seat/hands, but she's very calm under saddle for being an ex-racer. She wouldn't be suitable for a beginner, though. :)

  • More specifically, Javie would be best suited for an intermediate to advanced rider. She can be forward when she wants to be. :P

  • what would you consider an intermediate rider?

  • We'd consider an intermediate rider someone who is solid and secure at the w/t/c and over fences on a well-trained horse. Beginner is still learning any number of those things, advanced is someone who can do all of those things on a green horse.
