  • Kick Ass!

  • The way Bob, Jerry, and Phil mesh on this jam is beyond me. I just wonder what Brent would have to offer on a tune like this....

  • @Lesh4life ...Brent couldnt hold Keith's roachclip...

  • @schmabit You're right. Brent was speedballin through the 80's. He was a little too shakey to hold a roach clip, but damn he could play those keys like nobody's business.

  • One of my favorite dead tunes..just love it <3

  • wow, wow, wow, everything about this is perfect

  • The codes are for the dead and the dead can not tell you the meaning of the codes there are unbreakable, even if you die you wont know cause most likely you are wicked if you desire to know the codes and theres nothing a void no light at the end of the tunnel for the wicked so your efforts are futile.

  • LOVE IT! Thanks for sending this to me Grateful!

  • Summertime....easy..*****

  • oh man nice piano! it seems higher than jerry's guitar though :(

  • would it not be strange that the creator of all life and consciousness - AMEN-RA - were not itself fully alive and conscious?

  • @tristramshandy3 Good morning Sunshine.

  • very beatlesque

  • this vid is an H-ALPHA dream.

  • my birthday 2.23.74 nice little nugget to stumble across..dont know why ive never seen before???

  • Pig died in March 1973. (Check out his Hard to Handle at the Family Dog if you want to get a sense of the coolest guy who walked on the planet.) THIS song is one of my favorites; the version from 73-74 in Madison, Wisconsin just bounces. Nice mid-tempo tune that cleans out my sinuses and then some.

  • Under 10000 views. Wow!! I must have watched this at least 50 times. Awesome vid and song. Good Ol Grateful Dead!!!

  • I watched it 51 times!

  • just woke up. rollin a fat joint, enjoyin the jam.

  • Happy Halloween!!

  • Sittin here getting ready for work. It's pouring rain out. Just plain wet, cold and nasty....but always sunny in my heart and spirit with the Dead. Words just can't explain.....

  • @shakedown5000 words just did explain.

  • grateful dead the best? who cares, just enjoy

  • didnt pigpen died in 72?

  • 73 .

  • listen to anything on hartford 77, terrapin something, its like music to the ears

  • what the fuck? music to the ears? uh, no kidding? and it's called "to terrapin: hartford '77" lol

  • Easy. Steely Dan. Check out "aja" off the album of the same name. As much as I enjoy the Dead they're nowhere near as technically amazing as the Steely Dan boys.

  • nope, far from wrong and far from me, steely dan? really? better than the dead? I submit nope.

  • for the most part they are a better studio band than the dead. live? naw fawckin whey.

  • @carlhuber Steely Dan is somewhat similar to the Grateful Dead in their incorporation of jazz elements into rock, but they have an opposite approach to music. Steely Dan made songs that were very calculated, written out, and "tight," while the Dead favored improvisation and the "looseness" of a live setting. So really, comparing the two is a bit pointless. Hell, Steely Dan didn't even play live shows for most of the seventies.

  • @carlhuber Nobody listens to Steely Dan anymore -- 70s coke disco. The Dead are still changing people's lives.

  • @alexpetro27 Soooooo not true, how rude :/

  • @carlhuber ....Steely Dan was always my favorite band when I was on my knees plucking out pieces of stucco from the carpet that I had mistaken for free base.....There's just something about them and cocaine. As far as GD, I still have flashbacks of thinking I was driving off the road on Mount Tamalpais during an unexpected thick fog bank that rolled into the North bay while frying on 3 hits of Owsley...Ahhhh, good times

  • @AvirtualSwitzerland Hahahaha thats a pretty fuckin awesome story dude, I wish there was still good Owsley acid circulating, to bad the man's dead :/ Or all of us 21st century Deadheads would be having a field day. Peace, Love, Dead, and Drugs (when there available) ;D

  • @spacemeddle .....Have no fear. The shit @ RATDOG and FURTHER shows is pretty damn wicked. Just look for the Visine bottles. Bon Apetite !

  • @AvirtualSwitzerland Thank you friend! I will in fact do that, seeing as how I am going to a Furthur show in September. Probably just rome the parking lot looking for some good dosage, to trip on. LOL

  • Too right. An un-cliche visual, nice work.

  • Now this is the type of visual that's meant for the Dead :)

  • I've been to these outer limits before!

  • Nice!

  • SWEEEEEET

  • Although I have listened to countless hours of Dead music, I continually find myself wondering: "Is there no end to the brilliance of this band?"

  • One of my favorite Dead songs for sure. Thanks for the post. Just saw them in Chicago, it was great, but we missed JERRY, MAN!

  • Hunter says this tune is about a flood in 1949: ""(Remembering the great Vanport, Washington flood of 1949, living in other people's homes, a family abandoned by father; second grade"). Pretty mournful, but the tune is absolutely brimming with hope and joy. The first time they played this in Madison, WI, it bounced right off the walls. I hope the Dead play this during their upcoming tour; to me, it says, "GRATEFUL DEAD FOREVER."

  • Do you know if they're coming anywhere near Ky....?

  • This is amazing :) I'm so glad I got stoned and wanted to hear this song.

  • I'm not even stoned and I wanted to hear it....

  • @venusbcchs hell yeah
