Back in the 90's a friend of mine went to a show and offered eek to smoke and eek grabbed an OZ of dank from his hands and said thanks. lol now that's some low shit

Tell that to all of his fans worldwide that he is not great. Do your homework and you will read on the latest release from Greensleeves that the recording company considers him a true living and the inventor of Sing Jay. And by the way, his song "Wa Do Dem" is featured in the Adam Sandler movie, "Don't Mess with the Zohan".Just recently, in all of the Jamaican newspapers the front headline reads, Eek-A-Mouse living legend walks out of carifest. Have you seen Mouse perform? He freestyles 4 hours
Eek-a-Mouse is the greatest reggae star since Bob Marley. This statement has been made over and over again by numberous fans and posted to the internet. If you open up his other songs that are posted on you tube, you will read that there is a consenus. You just don't agree. And that's fine to disagree. But you happen to be in the minority.
"Eek-a-Mouse is the greatest reggae star since Bob Marley. This statement has been made over and over again by numberous fans and posted to the internet. If you open up his other songs that are posted on you tube, you will read that there is a consenus"
Ok, if this is true..then tell me why Eek is standing up whining about not selling any records at all in this video? lol
Listen up yall..the man is speaking the truth and it hurts..I am from a family with white and black ancestors, love Bob and Damian, they are the best of the best, BUT the color thing is TRUE ,was a practiced within my family among each other..So stop the hatin u ass holes who's talking bout killing Eek a Mouse,FREEDOM OF SPEACH..Try to change injustice, study history and enlighten your dumb asses, embrace love and atonement.
I think, eek-a-mouse was right, because in my country, i don't saw any Reggae "black singers" albums. And he mean that white people can sell albums without problems.
I&I still can't believe it Eek-a-mouse start chat bear crap about Bob Marley ... a gunshot fi his bomboclat. If i see u in Amsterdam Eek and you talk crap about Bob Marley again mi lik off ya head. Pussyhole!
Most a di people buying Eek-a-mouse bloodclat records & giving him his money ... are white! He sounds like a bomboclat babylon bwoy right ya now. Cuz all me hear is jealousy & envy.
is that Matisyahu sitting on the right at the end of the table whilst Mouse flipped out cussin him and all the 'light skinned' artists?...if so damn thats cold
Sounds suspicious to me. How do you explain Bounty & Beenie who have both had nuff crossover success and are definitely not what I'd call "light-skinnned." Eeka is just bitter. Following the logic of some of the posters here--why is Yellowman then not a big ting inna japan!??! LOL!
i dont think hes stupid Giaguro, in fact hes really being truthful. He is sayng what many people have been feeling long time.He just had the guts to sey it.freedom of speech is what reggae is about anyway.sounds like eeka made a good point.
Is it me or do some u posters got ur head up ur asses,RACE does play a factor so does the almighty dollar,do u think a major label would push elephantman the same way it pushes sean paul? NO they wouldn't because in terms of race and business sean's light skin color equals more revenue from a cross-section of different ethnic groups like west indian blacks- because he's from jamaica,latinos-because he looks like them and whites-because he almost looks like them.Gwan Eek-a-mouse.
and eeek a mouse complaining about why hes not bigger then he is, he plays for nearly all white crowds for the last 20 years... i think he needs to lose the hat and the attitude...
Illiterate! It's having that frame of mind that keeps Jamaicans down... n him need to speak for himself because Toots and the Maytals have dem concerts all over the US an is beeeeeeeer white people payin dem bills! Him need to reevaluate his thought process or else him not goin make no progress in life.
Yes there's a element of truth in what he's saying and what Jamaican artists have been complaining about for years. I feel he should have been more diplomatic and tactful but I think frustration got the better of him.
Mouse has had many, many hits and has written over 300 great songs. You need to pick up his new release "Most Wanted" by Greensleeves Recrods and read all of his accomplishments. You obviously don't know about is vast talent. He is the founder of sing jay, a true living legend.
It is now 2008 and we still battle the race issue...Why? Honestly it seems as though people will knock anyone down that gets in their way in the biz or in any area of their life. Bob Marley said it best, "one love". Sad to say that will never happen when people are so greedy and have egos bigger than their brain. Maybe it makes people feel better about themselves if they blame other races for their shortcoming's/lack of talent. Leave a legacy of honor, don't make a fool of yourself with hatred.
The funniest thing is that everytime I see Eek A Mouse perform, his band is WHITE!!! Pure comedy..I guarantee he doesnt care about all them WHITE GALS he impregnates...Maybe no one promotes him because he was wearing womens clothes in his last video "schizophrenic"...Ban deng diddy diddy coco puff~~~
i see your point but i personally think that the schizophrenic video was very good and really original plus eek a mouse has a great live show and a singing talent, much more than some other reggae artists
Fire burn up the rascists! Black, white, or yellow. Race is just an illusion. Statements like this only perpetuate the problem at hand. Truth is, there are some GREAT dark-skinned reggae acts that DO sell records. Look at Midnite, Burning Spear, Culture, Bunny Wailer, Majek Fashek, Alpha Blondy, Capleton, Sizzla, Anthony B, Buju Banton and many many others. Honestly, Eek a Mouse's songs are the problem. Weak, and unmemorable, except for his Batta bim deal. And thats more of a novelty not GREAT.
I have to reply to your comment about Mouse's songs not being great. I must say that his songs are great and he is indeed one of the greatest performers out there to date. All of the people that you have named have commercial appeal and can not walk in Mouse's shoes. Banton, for example, sings about killing gays and has a fast beat with good backstage props. He can not, I repeat can not compare to Eek. He is the founding father of sing jay a prelude to rap. A true living legend of our time.
lol Banton is darker than Eek bro..the point powersofkhan was making is that those artists have sold plenty, period;regardless of whether its commercial or creativity that got them there..the arguement has been darker skin artists dont sell and well, there's strong evidence that it does sell and now you are making a different arguement comparing songs of buju and eek a mouse..stay on topic
And while Eek A Mouse rants there sits Harrison Stafford of the reggae band GROUNDATION, a young man and band working hard and doing wonderful things for reggae music. We need more possitive reggae artists like GROUNDATION black/white/or whatever color to move forward!
C'mon. One Love people. Selling records is business. Reggae is music. Bob Marley was a wonderful songwriter. So are all reggae artists including Eek-A-Mouse. Put down your anger. It does nothing for anyone. Music is our soul. Nobody's going to sell records soon unless we work together.
peace and love and mindfulness. I hope that reggae finds its place again with oneness and unity the main principles for all people. Don't let the egos and business ruin the message. PLEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!
The man is CORRECT! i've been saying that for a while now..it's the complexion connection, if you are light skinned, you will probably be more prosperous in the music business, than if you have a darker skin.
a true the man a tell, all these white reggae people come get signed quicker than a black man, skin color plays alot in the distribution of reggae, chris blackewell put bob at the front cuz him lighter and will appeal get sign on big label easy shaggy, sean paul may not make better music than alot of real dancehall reggae artist but they get more push/promotion because of skin color, which black reggae artist sell and get the amount of slaes as the light ones, none big up all artiste one love still.
Wonder what yellowman would have to say about that? Im white an avid reggae listener..I don't see color in reggae..its a shame some artists still get treated like that but this is the world we live in..if a person is hungry for good reggae, those artists will eventually be discovered..trust me..dont forget: Sly & Robbie have collaborated with UB40 on numerous occasions ..UB40 reps cultural union of white and black muscians coming together for the music..did eek forget that?
Eek-A-Rass! 1) If Carifest "doesn't mean sh*t" to him, he shouldn't be on the line-up. You don't sh*t where you eat. 2) Ace of Base aren't reggae. Eek-A-Mouse's comments are completely out of place at a launch for a charitable event. This was not the platform for him to push his racist agenda. It sounds like a lot if insecurity and jealousy on his part. There is room for everyone in music. Music transcends race. Maybe its his attitude, not his color, that's holding him back in the business.
brittany26, he speaks the truth, tell me one black skin jamaican who sell like the whites or light skinned ones who are heavily mixed, these black ones in jamaica are around for many years and never get to the level of a white one who gets a easy pass and promotion and success
what about snow? he had one hit then flopped..he was white was he not? Please, there are so many black-skinned jamaicans that have sold plenty reggae..i have heaps of stuff from dennis brown, lee perry, bob, gregory isaacs, max romeo, etc...UB40 only had success because of red wine which was accidentally discovered in the US by a rogue radio station that played it for kicks..if that DJ never played it, UB40 would still be nameless in the states
Yes - shitty song. But listen poser - I used to fuck a girl that grew up in the same housing projects as Snow and I can tell you - he really was down with the local crew of yardies and he really did do time before he released that track.
So before you open your mouth, think. Cause you ain't from where some people are from, so you can't judge what their life has been.
Eek-A-Mouse has every right to dis the hell out of UB40 or whoever he likes - but not you. .. and you're white ? can it !!
"you ain't from where some people are from" Haha, no shit Sherlock Homeless! I am not from every city in every country in the world... Wow. And what THE FUCK did I say about Snow except that his track was shit and he wasn't a reggae artist??? What THE FUCK do I need to know about his life to back up those two statements?? Are you retarded??
You wanna open your mouth - someone's gonna open their mouth back.
People who open their mouths when they don't know what the FUCK their talking about PISS ME OFF !!!!!!
And what reeeally pisses me off is when white people waste their time putting their own race down so hard like that. "I'm white and I there's no white reggae artist worth listening to..." ?
How many black people talk about their own people like that?? Maybe you should take a lesson from them.
And point is genius boy - since you finally realized you're NOT from "every city in the world". Maybe you should shut up about whether white people can play reggae or not. Coming from Eek-A-Mouse (or really any Jamaican) - I might listen to talk like that. But not from my own people.. What are you trying to kiss ass by putting yourself down???
Way to ignore the point at hand. You really are stupid. None of the people I mentioned are any fucking good at reggae, am I wrong? I think white people have achieved enough in the world for our race not to come crashing to its knees in a dust cloud of shame and poverty because I said we don't make fantastic reggae. Jamaica pioneered reggae, most Jamaicans are black; ergo, the vast majority of good reggae is not made by white people... Am I wrong? We don't have to be the best at EVERYTHING son
"Coming from Eek-A-Mouse (or really any Jamaican) - I might listen to talk like that. But not from my own people.."
AHAHAHAHAHA!!! That is priceless. So it is OK for someone else (a black man *shock horror*) to say it, but it is less accurate when a white person says it? My ears work as well as Eek-a-Mouse's ears. My brain processes sound and recognises music like a black man's.
If your ears HEAR just the same as a black man's then why can't you MAKE music just the same as a black man ??
Now I've made a plain statement that you don't get - so let me spell it out... again.
Reggae music is a part of Jamaican culture. It "belongs" to them. Therefore they can go ahead and get pissed off about who's famous and who isn't. YOU, on the other hand have made a pathetic attempt to kiss up by putting yourself down. It's sad.
I am white and I have been listening to reggae since I was a baby, that's nearly 30 years, and I can't think of ANY white reggae artists who get much play or are worth listening to. I can think of UB40, but never liked them... Ace of Base and those he mentioned aren't even reggae, and I haven't heard a track by them on any radio station since 1997 anyway!!
All the best and best known reggae artists I can think of are black and Jamaican, dunno what his problem is.
So you been listening to the music for 30 yrs and you never heard of Gentleman?? Or Alborosie ??
Wake up ! "The times they are a changing" my friend, so move away with the backwards talk. You hear waaay more hate towards white reggae artists from white people than you do from Jamaicans.
Of course Eek-A-Mouse should be a bigger star than stupid Ace of Bass - but history will remember him for a LOT longer.
He's on the line-up coz they thought they could get some hippie whitebread reggae for this line up to avoid all the controversy from last year... Well, they were wrong!!! And EekAMouse IS NOT INCORRECT mind you, maybe he could be more tactful but fuck that when did tact ever get the downtrodden anywhere?? LOL @ EEKAMOUSE PULLING A KANYE WEST!!! *APPLAUSE*
dont give a fuck, smoke some fat buds!

I think, eek-a-mouse was right, because in my country, i don't saw any Reggae "black singers" albums. And he mean that white people can sell albums without problems.

The funniest thing is that everytime I see Eek A Mouse perform, his band is WHITE!!! i see your point but i personally think that the schizophrenic video was very good and really original plus eek a mouse has a great live show and a singing talent, much more than some other reggae artists

PowersofKhan 3 years ago
I have to reply to your comment about Mouse's songs not being great. I must say that his songs are great and he is indeed one of the greatest performers out there to date. All of the people that you have named have commercial appeal and can not walk in Mouse's shoes. Banton, for example, sings about killing gays and has a fast beat with good backstage props. He can not, I repeat can not compare to Eek. He is the founding father of sing jay a prelude to rap. A true living legend of our time.
gatewaytitle 3 years ago
lol Banton is darker than Eek bro..the point powersofkhan was making is that those artists have sold plenty, period;regardless of whether its commercial or creativity that got them there..the arguement has been darker skin artists dont sell and well, there's strong evidence that it does sell and now you are making a different arguement comparing songs of buju and eek a mouse..stay on topic

And while Eek A Mouse rants there sits Harrison Stafford of the reggae band GROUNDATION, a young man and band working hard and doing wonderful things for reggae music. We need more possitive reggae artists like GROUNDATION black/white/or whatever color to move forward!
reggaearchive 3 years ago
PLEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!

a true the man a tell, all these white reggae people come get signed quicker than a black man, skin color plays alot in the distribution of reggae, chris blackewell put bob at the front cuz him lighter and will appeal get sign on big label easy shaggy, sean paul may not make better music than alot of real dancehall reggae artist but they get more push/promotion because of skin color, which black reggae artist sell and get the amount of slaes as the light ones, none big up all artiste one love still.

Brittany26 3 years ago
brittany26, he speaks the truth, tell me one black skin jamaican who sell like the whites or light skinned ones who are heavily mixed, these black ones in jamaica are around for many years and never get to the level of a white one who gets a easy pass and promotion and success

what about snow? he had one hit then flopped..he was white was he not? Please, there are so many black-skinned jamaicans that have sold plenty reggae..i have heaps of stuff from dennis brown, lee perry, bob, gregory isaacs, max romeo, etc...UB40 only had success because of red wine which was accidentally discovered in the US by a rogue radio station that played it for kicks..if that DJ never played it, UB40 would still be nameless in the states
smerrigan 3 years ago
Snow!? Informer? That was a shitty RAP track from the 90's right? He wasn't a reggae artsist.
Davidbensonxyz 2 years ago
Yes - shitty song. But listen poser - I used to fuck a girl that grew up in the same housing projects as Snow and I can tell you - he really was down with the local crew of yardies and he really did do time before he released that track.
So before you open your mouth, think. Cause you ain't from where some people are from, so you can't judge what their life has been.
Eek-A-Mouse has every right to dis the hell out of UB40 or whoever he likes - but not you. .. and you're white ? can it !!
yourmanwatson 2 years ago
"you ain't from where some people are from" Haha, no shit Sherlock Homeless! I am not from every city in every country in the world... Wow. And what THE FUCK did I say about Snow except that his track was shit and he wasn't a reggae artist??? What THE FUCK do I need to know about his life to back up those two statements?? Are you retarded??
Davidbensonxyz 2 years ago
You wanna open your mouth - someone's gonna open their mouth back.
People who open their mouths when they don't know what the FUCK their talking about PISS ME OFF !!!!!!
And what reeeally pisses me off is when white people waste their time putting their own race down so hard like that. "I'm white and I there's no white reggae artist worth listening to..." ?
How many black people talk about their own people like that?? Maybe you should take a lesson from them.
So like I said before - can it !
yourmanwatson 2 years ago
And point is genius boy - since you finally realized you're NOT from "every city in the world". Maybe you should shut up about whether white people can play reggae or not. Coming from Eek-A-Mouse (or really any Jamaican) - I might listen to talk like that. But not from my own people.. What are you trying to kiss ass by putting yourself down???
yourmanwatson 2 years ago

Davidbensonxyz 2 years ago
Jamaican's come in many colors, asswipe.
It's sad.
yourmanwatson 2 years ago
How on Earth am I putting myself down?? I am not a musician, nor do I want to be... You are an idiot.

Davidbensonxyz 2 years ago
