Thanks for your reply. You've only been playing for three years! You are well accomplished. How often and long do you practice and do have the knowledge regarding music as in the tech issues?
@buzzfuzz146 It took 1 month to pick out the notes but over a year to perfect. In this video I have not yet perfected it. I have a newer version called "Humoresque II" that I posted and it shows that I add more of the thumb picking and play the notes more clearly. Humoresque was the first Chet Atkins arrangement I learned and I have been playing for 3 years now. Yes, I am self-taught but I have had help with advanced chords from great players.
this is awesome. i started playing guitar very young and my dad had lots of chet atkins records. so thats what i started learning. i don't play too much of it anymore but i love listening to it and watching amazing players keeping chets music alive.
Bluegrass. Why do you have to be so young and so far away from Maryland. I love your pickin' which was much better that I was at your age. Of course, the electric guitar was just getting started at that time. The biggest name in the countrry was "Pick it out, Billy Byrd". You' are great. I am 79 and still can't do all those things. Because of the deep Merle Travis tone, my guitar sounds a bit better that yours. Mine is a customizefd special with the old-time Joe Maphis pickups.
I really wanna get the power tabs but i can't find them. You should make an instructional video on how to play! I'd love to learn this song. Great playing good job!
I learned this song mostly by watching Chet Atkins on Youtube. He has different versions of this song out here so I tried to put all of them in one. My newer version of this song in my video "Humoresque 2" is a better video to see and learn from because I have improved a few things.
I know you can get the tab out of Fingerstyle Magazine but I haven't been able to find it anywhere else so I mostly learned this by watching Chet's fingers and listening.
There are tabs for Humouresque available in ".tef " which is the file form of the TablEdit program. I don't believe that youtube likes web addresses being out so if you would like the tabs, send me a message. FYI - the tabs are very close to the Atkins recording.
I about lost it the first time I watched one of your videos assuming you were only about 16 or 17, now I find out your only 13!!, . .how is it possible that such mature poise and ability flows from such a young woman!...I hope you realize you have something that can't be bought.....talent and style!!
Like your rendition of Humoresque. I have been a long-time disciple of Chet's and thought you might also enjoy some of my tabs on Petite Waltz, Struttin, Vincent and Winter Walkin'(a nice version). Oh yeah, I musn't forget Siboney.
You play Humoresque quite well for someone still so young. If you have a copy of Tabledit I can send you my tab results for Vincent, Winter Walkin, Petite Waltz, Struttin and others. Another you might like is Russ Jenkin's 'Ain't Misbehavin' . I am also working on God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Hark the Herald Angels and Deck the Halls -hoping I can get them 100% memorized for Chrismas.
I also have a 5120 - Try substituting some TV JONES EM2 pickups for the ones that come with the 5120s, it will make your Gretsch sound like a '59 6120 at a fraction of the cost. Great job as always!5*
impossible, the nicer ones are made in japan now, havent made em in us for a long time, and those vintage ones are poorly made with substandard neck sets in many cases. Japanese ones are quite good tho
Very talented! The pickin is great, your style of the arrangement is sweet. Your demeanor is the most impressive thing on all of your clips. unlike the Guitar hero wanna-bees you are doing it with style and staying humble and true to the music. Doc Watson would be proud!
Very nice playing. It's good to see a young person like yourself playing fingerstyle guitar. You commented on my song sweedish rhapsody,I hope my tip helped.Great picking!
Awesome job!!!! Keep picking. I just got back into playing about 1 year ago after a two year break. I'm getting ready to pick up a Gretsch 5120 in about a week.
Hooray! I watched your other vids too, and you have great taste in music. That's the best place to start. Keep at it...we'll all say we "knew you when...". ;-)

You learned it by watching, how long did it take. At your level I would guess not long. How long have you been playing. Are you self taught?
