How important is licensure vs. a master's degree?

I just checked out 2 books at the library and am researching all kinds of this stuff. I want to be a clinical and student psychologist and an elementary special education teacher :) A lot of my friends like this field. But some like social workers and similar things. I really love this field and I don't care about fame or anything but I really think this is a "worth it" job! :D

@YurChuck23 Well if you want to be a Psychiatrist you have to go to med school and become a doctor. Then you decide to specialize in Psychiatry. The process takes around 13 years and is not easy.

i'm doing my undergrad in psychology at the moment, it's pretty intense, and very competitive when getting into your postgraduate studies (which you have to do to become a registered psychologist, in australia anyway)... but i think it's a good career :) just try it out, for those who are wondering

@blueyestlk You can get a Psy.D in clinical psychology which titles you as a doctor. Although you can't prescribe drugs like a Psychiatrist.

I'm studying psychology right now and it is tough, but so is every other college degree. Its just a matter of your learning style. Right now its mostly memorization of theory and how to apply them as opposed to a conceptual based learning program like an undergrad math degree may be. It's work and its a long road (8 years maybe more of post high school programs) its worth your time to consider the worth.
