How to install programs on Mac OS X

Hello mate...Will join some study program in August and thought of buying a 12.5" or 13.3" with Windows 7 Pro such as Lenovo X220 or X1 or the Toshiba Portege R835 or Z835 or the HP Folio but after some search one friend told me that he used lots of computers but since he bought his MacBook he decided he is not going to buy anything but MacBooks. I know nothing, absolutely nothing about Mac OS or applications working on Mac OS, but I really like the MacBook Pro 13" so what you do recommend?

I just bought a Mac and i am now trying to install software (creative suite). When i put in the disk, it asks for a serial number before i install. Where on the box of the software is the serial number? Is it a code with letters & numbers, or just all numbers?? If there is someone who knows what I'm talking about, PLEASE help me!!

@starlingcastillo im sorry but it looks like ares p2p is a windows only program so when you download it is only a exe. if you want to use it you need to install windows. im sorry that is all i can tell you i dont want to advise you on how to steal music or anything else.

Hi Kryptic Mac Genius - I am facing problem with mac - its become very slow and although i have entered my WPA - WIFI key and saved it, system does not store it. So i have to click on agian my prefereed network and it selects again. Main Problem in Its becoming very slow. I hope its not any virus

I want to install a program off the internet but idk if it's safe. If i were to install it and there was a virus attached to it will it affect my computer. I've herd Macs can't get viruses unless you say it's ok for it to install. by downloading the program am I saying it's ok for the virus to install if there is one?

@UsagiAoiroPop yea there isn't any viruses for mac. there is some torrents that have been around that have had trojans in them but apple took care of them. it should be a problem. i install all kinds of programs from the internet with out a problem.

Thank you for the great video. I have a problem with my mac. I have a music keyboard which I have installed the driver for. But the mac doesn't recognize the usb. I have tried with apple products, and it works, but when I try with other things, like my camera, my keyboard etc. it doesn't respond at all. What do you think could be the reason for this?

first thank you for the video, i have a question: i installed msn messenger and got rid of the .dmg file but every time i open messenger another file with a hard drive-like thing on it appears in the desktop . . . can i get rid of that file too? because i can't eject it while i am using messenger but once i close the app i eject it and nothing happens . . . and it appears again once i open messenger . . . sorry but i am a new mac user and i don't know if that is normal . . .

there are plenty of Windows applications that can be run without installing, using only one file. I don't see what the difference is.

@Cezarstvo. Its up to you. You could delete the dmg or store it. Butt simple answered is yes.

Kieyeh did you drag and drop the application out of the dmg (the folder you ejected). If not then you'll have to open the dmg again then drag and drop the application to your desktop then drag it to your applications folder

hey thanks thats a very helpful video specially for a newbie on a mac (like me)..although i wantd to ask u..using the normal mac procedure of installing an application, isnt there something like you have to hit eject after its done? please advise with some weblinks if possible.

i did everything right downloaded file opened moved to application folder restarted computer but now when i try to open the program and arrow flashes under it for like half a second then stops altogether?????

i download lots of things (dmg) to my new mac and install them in applications but i click on it and the icon just bounces in the bar on the bottom then disappears and does not open. this happens with skype,msn,and several others
