pretty good game, but does anyone elses game keep on crashing, like when a player is injured and you have to sub a person on, or if its a set piece, or if its the end of a game and you run out.
hey can anyone explain to me how the special abilities work...for example...how does the "scoring" ability affect a player and his stats...
or why do they label some players as having a "goal kicking" ability...this ability obviously improves their goal kicking...but why not jus increase their goal kicking stats...why give them a special ability for that?

Not to sure about goal kicking, but I do know that the playmaking one, there always seems to be holes in the opposition defence, for the player to run through,allowing him to set up possible tries. Scoring I think adds more flare to the player,easier to sidestep and fend,and always in the right place at the right time.
and also tactical kicking, when the player kicks for touch, its most likely to go into touch. Its a bit harder to do that without that special ability selected, no matter how much you increase his kicking ability.

Yes, it does, I just read it and makes more sense now. You need special abilities to increase team chemistry, which improves the overall performance of the team. So if you have two or three positions such as a half back and a fly half who's special abilites complement each other's, then the team chemisty increases,(you know this has happened when the names turn green when viewing your starting XV in your tournament menu).

the deal with some of the names being incorrect is because EA failed to secure the licence to use the real names of the players...especially with the pacific island teams and the french clubs...so for legal purposes they had to spell their names incorrectly...it sucks i no...but thats the law so ehh

FUTURE ADVICE FOR BUYERS- do not get this game, pretty much exactly same as 06 but with different camera angles. EA has gotten so much wrong no ref, impact players are stuffed up, stats and teams need to be updated and fast ruck ball is still to slow. Set plays should be set up by rucks before hand like in real life by using forwards until the setplays are ready...just wait another year
would be cool if they did a next gen versio on ps3 or xbox 360 with bruising more flowing rugby new commentary and better ranked players its the curse of ea they get so far and nether get better

Why is it so windy only during conversions? lol. The wind should've been added in gameplay. That could prevent players from booting the ball 60+ metres down field. The bar should widen abit when lower ranked kickers are right in front of the posts too.

Got the game this morning. It's not bad, the new camera angles are weird. Player names for lower ranked teams like Samoa are shocking. The Junior AB's are there but are ranked a low 62 or there abouts.....
but the biggest shock would be Mills Muliaina at centre for NZ, wtf.

This is real. Go to HB Studios Web Site. The screen shots are exactly the same. Its k@k. I don't think these gus know ow the game is played. I think they think turn overs happen every 2 minutes in a game.
I was playing EA Rugby earlier and they had quick pick-ups from tackle ball. EA should put this back in, it's only fair. What's more frustrating than losing possession at the ruck on hard when you're first to the ball and/or have more players at the breakdown.
Are far as I can tell, there won't be a 360 or PS3 version...which basically shows how much effort the developers have gone to "Change" this from Rugby 06. If this is warning enough to avoid this game, I don't know what is.
I see some of the glitches are still in the game 6:03 theres how many french players around the ball and not 1 of them can pick it up lol. Sometimes it makes you wonder if Ea have actually seen a game of rugby. Can still magically run through a ruck 7:20 what a joke.
I'm buying a copy of JONAH LOMU RUGBY instead of this rubbish. This is obviously a blatant rip off from EA who are cashing in on world cup (Con Artists). A year and a half to change the camera angle...oh well Done EA!! Jonah Lomu Rugby was out OVER 10 YEARS AGO and STILL has the best gameplay in multiplayer mode. In 10 YEARS EA have not managed to do ONE thing better than Lomu Rugby has done. If this is Rugby 08 there is NO WAY i am buying this!
Not sure about all of them, but some of them are the actual world cup uniforms. eg England nd Wales have weird uniforms for the world cup which I think the game have got correct
I think EA is losing their touch for making games ... It's not just the rugby franchise that has had visual upgrades only since 05 and a few small gameplay adjustmnets ... if you check the FIFA , NHL, and even MADDEN (although this one has experienced quite a few improvements) it just seems like a poor remake of older versions but with better graphics ... Whoever makes a decent football(soccer), hockey or rugby game will surely take EA's sports market
they need new commentry, new sidesteps, handoffs etc make it more like madden, because right now it is all tricky to do and rarely works. They have had a year and a half to work on this I was expecting BIG gameplay changes :(
It's bad graphics becos it was probs recorded from ps2 (that has less resolution compared to computer), and then it has been compresed so they can put it on youtube, which means the quality is just downgraded again. But if you get it on computer and turn up graphics i garuntee you it will look marvellous. Rugby 2005 looked glorious on mine.

All they seemed to have changed is the menu.. star players have changed henson should not be a star player, martyn williams and hook and shane williams should be wales's star players. this game looks exactly the same as 06 so if uve mastered elite will it just get boring quickly theve had two years and all they have seemed to change is the menu and the roster! hmm im not sure i will waste £30 on here!

Does anyone know if they got rid of the annoying way that the WHOLE TEAM chases a line breaker? That was gay. In fact there's so many inconsistencies in these games that I'm sure the people who made it have never seen a rugby game before.

I was playing EA Rugby earlier and they had quick pick-ups from tackle ball. EA should put this back in, it's only fair. What's more frustrating than losing possession at the ruck on hard when you're first to the ball and/or have more players at the breakdown.

Are far as I can tell, there won't be a 360 or PS3 version...which basically shows how much effort the developers have gone to "Change" this from Rugby 06. If this is warning enough to avoid this game, I don't know what is.

not sure about the camra angle. Wouldnt work well in multiplayer. Hope the 360 version has better grathics

I see some of the glitches are still in the game 6:03 theres how many french players around the ball and not 1 of them can pick it up lol. Sometimes it makes you wonder if Ea have actually seen a game of rugby. Can still magically run through a ruck 7:20 what a joke.

I'm buying a copy of JONAH LOMU RUGBY instead of this rubbish. This is obviously a blatant rip off from EA who are cashing in on world cup (Con Artists). A year and a half to change the camera angle...oh well Done EA!! Jonah Lomu Rugby was out OVER 10 YEARS AGO and STILL has the best gameplay in multiplayer mode. In 10 YEARS EA have not managed to do ONE thing better than Lomu Rugby has done. If this is Rugby 08 there is NO WAY i am buying this!

Not sure about all of them, but some of them are the actual world cup uniforms. eg England nd Wales have weird uniforms for the world cup which I think the game have got correct

I think EA is losing their touch for making games ... It's not just the rugby franchise that has had visual upgrades only since 05 and a few small gameplay adjustmnets ... if you check the FIFA , NHL, and even MADDEN (although this one has experienced quite a few improvements) it just seems like a poor remake of older versions but with better graphics ... Whoever makes a decent football(soccer), hockey or rugby game will surely take EA's sports market

they need new commentry, new sidesteps, handoffs etc make it more like madden, because right now it is all tricky to do and rarely works. They have had a year and a half to work on this I was expecting BIG gameplay changes :(

It's bad graphics becos it was probs recorded from ps2 (that has less resolution compared to computer), and then it has been compresed so they can put it on youtube, which means the quality is just downgraded again. But if you get it on computer and turn up graphics i garuntee you it will look marvellous. Rugby 2005 looked glorious on mine.

yeah yeah this looks sh*t ea games could have done better on the commentating and actual footage of the REFS or TOUCH JUDGES but the lineouts and goal kicking is all right by the way the camera moves with it but i guess they will have all the teams and proberly have the new players and tournament but hey 1 thing i noticed was that wheres RUGBY 07!
