The skip function won't really be a good idea. Mainly because, what if you skip by accedent? Or what if you skip so you can get to your favorite songs?
The iPod skipping the song is cool, but at the same time I skip a lot songs that I don't want to listen to but I like. I think it would have to be able to turned off. The "shape-shifting" dock is just ridiculous.
A touchscreen on the iMac is very impractical. If you're at a desk, why would you want to lean over and have to touch the screen to do commands? That's why the HP Touchsmart sucks. Plus, this would raise the price of the iMac.
I agree Apple needs to update their displays, but calm down Apple is just patenting technology so no one else can use it. We probably won't see that display technology used for years and years to come.
Apple might be "in trouble", but don't forget Apple's aquasition of PA Semi, so if the Intel thing doesn't work then Apple could maybe use PA Semi to make chips. I would think.
hmm not likely, apples main aim of pa semi was to use them to manufacture chips for MOBILE devices, if apple used pa semi chips they could never get windows on there systems, and that would be a loss of a big features ! plus apple are just about over the PPC technology in computers, but PPC ftw lol
Apple cannot abandon X86, it seems that every move Apple makes or people wish is an absolute. I say go back to the NextStep ways, let it run on x86, RISC, SPARC, POWER, whatever, give us more options for chips/chipsets, like AMD.
Agreed, but then wouldn't Apple have to worry about more things, like hacks? Plus what would that do to the Apple - Intel relationship? I think Apple should by Intel, but still let them stay an independent company. That Apple would be able to do so much more development, and would be able to get what ever chips they wanted. Maybe make amazing chips for themselves and and just sell the ok ones to other companies.
@garrettlove101 "Agreed, but then wouldn't Apple have to worry about more things, like hacks" why? Having control over EFI or OpenFirmware as they have and do sets the rules on up.
im guessing your american or canadian, your saying it your way, im saying it according to queens english, please be a bit more aware of that, rather than just leaving a comment
haha yea i know what you mean and this will help if you trying to fall asleep why listening to music and dont want to turn your iphone on unlock it and then skip the song. But a better idea that you had said before was holding down the volume rocker to skip song.
I agreed with everything but I don't think they are buying icall to just sit on them. If the deal goes through I think iphone 5.0 might have something voip in it.
lol ye im ok, just had a tough 2 weeks of uni, i broke up for christmas holidays this past friday, been really relaxing since then, but monday, so tomorrow, the revision starts all over again lol hows things with you ?
Great Video! Hey DRBUK I am thinking of buying a iMac 27 inch (quad core), do you think it is worth the price and is it the right timt to buy one? Please let me know. Thank You. ps. it will be first mac, i know nothing about them ! lol.
i think its not that big a deal about arndale, from what have seen the inbuilt graphics are on packadge, NOT on die, so it shouldent be hard to just put the cpu core on the package!! Intel were strong without apple, it seems a little fan boiish to suggest intel cow-tow to apple, apple need intel more than intel need apple!
ye, BOW TO APPLE sounds a little too strong, i realised that lol i should say, can apple persuade intel to have custom chips, the relationship is good between apple and intel, so i could see the custom chips happen, BUT if its too much work, apple will have to think fast and quick because competitor laptops are getting faster and faster because there adapting arndale fast !
I think Intel are still very pleased to have apple on board. i mean lets face it they have x million chips sold now just to power apples line, so its a definate win for them. clearly the custom core 2 in macbook air shows how well intel do think of its apple relationship. Im pretty sure intel relesed that chip to other manufactures a few months down the line tho, so its really more a reflection of the exclusivity you mentioned about the chips for the mac PRO.
I suppose my only concern for apple now is who would they turn to now if they fell out of favour with intel? with IBM out of the picture, POWER archetecture now entrenched in consoles with designs much less suited to general purpose computing, apple really dont have much choice but to go with intel, or be extremely brave and go with the weaker AMD option, one which has as many questions over capacity and supply as it dose over performance against intels arsnal, and i say that as a AMD fan!
The other worry for apple is Nvidia, intel Nvdia relations are at an all time low, and im sure intel know full well apple want arndale without GPU so they can pair it with a NV GPU of sorts, & legality in question with regards to any chipset / bus right intel grant to nvidia for upcoming platforms. i wonder weather apple have the sway over these industry players to keep there hardware platform as bespoke / unique as they have in the past.
I heard people in Japan are big MAC uses and do not use Windows at all really. So maybe that's part of the reason why the iPhone does so well in Japan.
about the first new skipping feature, i can see how that´s useful but what if im playing my favorite song and i skip it accidentaly or because i want to listen to another song inmediately?
about the new dock, that sounds like something out of a science fiction novel lol it´d be nice to see it in action...
about the 3d displays, i dont see that coming anytime soon, but a new 27" led cinema display better be here soon.
3D hyper-reality... awesome and simple idea... you can do that on any screen.. it's just the software and position sensor that will make it happen but with that you can only have one person controlling the perspective.
The 30" Cinema Display is still actually the best display of it's size on the market so Apple don't really need to improve it. I'd love for them to redesign it like the 24" but give the matte option too, or have matte as the default.
I doubt it. Unless they've gotten the manufacturing costs down to the same sort of level as the 3G so they can offer it in it's place. Their line up is set for the holidays anyway, so we're unlikely to see anything untill January at least.
Also agree with you on your last point (re Japanese market). A VERY tough one to crack as they are very uptight about their gadgets etc. They get phones there that we couldnt even imagine here in the UK lol. I think Apple has succeeded because of its ease of use, the app store (as you mentioned) and perhaps also to do with iTunes.
by iTunes - what I mean is the integration of your music and downloads. I guess the UI was probably a win-win situation for the iPhone in this market. Most of what i've seen on tech shows is a lot of 'flashy' phones i.e. design wise. I havent seen what it is like OS wise and I guess this is where Apple steps in.
Hi Adrian,. what i think about processing power is that Apple is working on new technologies that are already available on Windows,ATI Stream which is a application for latest ATI cards that will let you convert movies using GPU power, which is like 5 times faster than a quadcore. For Nvidia cards there is "Cuda", and its not only about converting videos, they will work with everything that uses C and C++ language.
I wish i could overclock on Apple, i saw big improvements when oced my i7 to 4gz
The good thing with the way Apple are implementing this in OS X is that OpenCL is an open source technology, so anybody can use it in their OS if they wated to. That's one thing I like about Apple, they're very active in the open source community and are always giving something back, dispite what people like to think about them being so "closed". You'd be amazed how many open source projects Apple are involved in, even if it's just at an advisory level.
The skip function won't really be a good idea. Mainly because, what if you skip by accedent? Or what if you skip so you can get to your favorite songs?

Apple products are very expensive in China so that may be why the iPhone is not selling so well.
In japan it may just be the novelty of having an american phone that makes it sell so well. Like having an imported phone that no one else has.
If that makes sense.

when intel call a chip EXTREME it means it "unlocked" for easy overclocking, however its really hard to overclock and iMac,
2 high clocked i7's would be more then enough!
i mean a single i7 beats a 8 core (2 core 2 quads) so its like having 4 core 2 quads!
either way, some serious power!
