  • by the way they play you can tell they genuinely enjoy the music. wonderful :)

  • Bravo! Label worthy indeed.

  • Played a bit too fast, but the majesty of this piece remains intact. Is there any doubt that the inspiration for Dvoark had to have been a train ride across the American Heartland?

  • This is by far my favorite performance of this piece. You all play as one unified group, not as individual players. Your dynamics, articulations, and tempos are excellent. Great work :)

  • very good!

    watch viola at 3:59 - haha, excellent^^

  • If more people played like this, the world would be a better place.

  • This music is really brilliant !!!

  • wooow I love this string quartet!! awsome!!!

  • tell yor 2nd violin that he looks like an idiot moving like that hahaha, totally ridicoulus : )

  • @Wiicuate

unless you're as good as him or better, I don't think your opinion means anything :I

  • very nice interpretation guys ...good luck in the future:)

  • 1:55 - Now that is Dvorak!!!! Well everything is Dvorak in here, I mean in most of his pieces he always puts in parallel octave phrases.

  • Kluci hoblujte!!!!!!!!!!!!!hrajete krasne !!!

  • YUM!!!

  • Neat stuff. I can see why this became famous

  • Dvořák vládne!

    Dvořák conquer!

  • extremly well performed.

  • Fantastic!

  • These guys came to my school! the second 1's name is peter and the 4th ones name is also peter

  • My gosh, what sort of school do YOU go to? (A question asked in jealousy)

  • watched this video a few months ago and really loved it! has to be one of the best performances of the 4th movement.

  • i really whole heartedly agree with you. i wish the whole quartet was on here to watch...but the 4th mov...or this performance of it is one of my fav videos on youtube currently...and has been for a while. i love it!

  • I really like these little "games" that plays 2nd violinist with cellist during the performance ( 3:11 for example)

  • frickin awesome

  • Yeah, this is a great performance! I like the way that the viola player tunes up his open string at 3:58, haha. And the second violinist has so much enegy, it's great.

  • any other movements plss???? so gooodd!!

  • I know them and they are original Czechs!! From Czech Republic you dumb! They even dont look like Asians!!! Realy funny decision!! But in one thing I agree...they are fantastic!;)

  • The piece is nicknamed the American Quartet.

  • I know that...I was just answering at the message of TroyeHaryanto, who said, that they are from Asia;)

  • Zemlinsky sounds so asian though...

  • I thought it sounded more Russian.

  • Sarcasm...

  • This is certainly the best American Quartet on YouTube. Perhaps the other three movements could be added as well?

  • Stunning performance. Until now, I never realized how American this quartet really sounds. Much better than the Emerson Quartet's interpretation. I only wish the viola were featured in this movement as it is in the first - and that I could hear this group play the first movement.

    Bravo!

  • beautiful!! i love it!

  • fsdadbh

  • Tak to je prima! To hlavní téma v prvních houslích je prostě trochu rychleji, než se mi líbí- menší tempové změny dávají více vyniknout muzice. Ale jinak to hrajete krásně.

  • Wonderful. Only to my 'czech ear' a little bit too fast. Czechs play it a bit slower and so the players can think more of each of the tone and the listener can enjoy each one too.

  • Dík za komentář. My jsme ale Češi ... :-)

  • @jkamarad I'm not Czech and I can tell it's a bit too fast! Other than that, beautifully played; one of my favorite classical pieces.

  • Wow...you guys are fantastic!

  • My favourite string quartet...beautifully played...

  • magnifique

  • This is one of my favorite piece! Wonderful!

  • Beautifully played gentlemen!

  • String Quartets have a unique sound that i love...the sound is just so different from solo\orchestral.

  • great piece, i just did at interlochen and i thought it was an excellent piece, my favorite movement is the second even though the violist is on 16ths, pizzicato, and some other rhythms.

  • Great video, post some more like this!

  • That was very good!I now, I just have to play like that violist in the 4th mov.

  • That was totally bad ass!

  • epic sound

  • Excelente. Muchas gracias por publicar este video.

  • This is beautiful! Thanks for posting this!

  • This is one of the best performance that I have ever seen. Just absolutely impressive, nothing to say.

  • nice viola turn out

  • this is awesome. this makes me wish i was a string player....preferably cello. i'm a horn player though, which is you think about it is like the cello of band.

  • How is the horn the cello of band?

There are two instruments in a band (three if you use a bassoon) that play in bass clef, and the horn plays in treble.

  • well the horn carries the band into the lower section as the cello is to the lower strings. they are both very smooth and graceful (if played correctly) and which clef you read in has nothing to do with that. horns do read in bass occasionally as do cellos read in treble occasionally

  • I might even argue that the horn is the viola of the band - played well, it has the same full, warm tone and can fill that same tenor/alto register.

  • muy bello, la música de cámara es hermosa y muy productiva para el músico.

    Felicitaciones -aunque igonoro quiénes sean

  • I Wanna play violin!!!!!!!!!

  • wow...this is one of the best quartets i have heard that has played this movement so well. Wonderful. It was obvious how into the music these musicians were.

  • I love this song!

    awesome!

I have this music in my mp3 :D

  • seguridad y la interpretacion es exelente, un cuarteto que si diverte

  • this defines music

  • Virtuosismo e beleza, sem dúvida, um grande momento de inspiração e uma grande interpretação.Obrigado!!

  • Sounds great! =D

  • Brilliant! I have seen this quartet performing this piece live on stage. Their rapport with their audience is electric. The energy of the second violin pulls the audience right into the music. It is an intense and magnificent exeprience. Watch this quartet - they are going places.

  • Yeah! Dvorak`s great! And this is the best performance on Youtube.

  • Now this is what it's about; a world-class performance.

  • that was brilliant

  • Sound a bit recessed, but a very good performance. Enjoyable

  • J'adore la musique pour cordes de Dvorak et si vous venez jouer à Paris,j'espère vous entendre!bravo

  • Not only is 2 much movement distracting&showboating, it chnges the physical dynamic of the instrument. It was rushed, this piece has a lot of opps for savoring, at the end, pitchy, perhaps less movmnt, more accuracy? (missed notes)Otherwise ok. What's w violist turning to audience? If you need to turn, be turned. As I wtch it agn, I fl it's rly rushed. Isn't it supposed to come in at 6:10 or so? And the 2nd v is really hittin some sour ones in the last 20 ms eeep!

  • i played this when i was 14(cello). this was good.

  • Great and energetic performance! And yes, that viola player has a great sound and knows when to come out.

  • seguridad total, bravo!

  • Sublime!

  • i love these songs.. the american quartets are amazing

we are playing the first movement tommorow night.. sigh

i got to play its violin.. :D

  • Just to remind the previous commentators, this performance is, primarily, an aural one. Whatever faults there may be re stage presence/appearance, you must admit that the interpretation is 'right on', in all respects. Bravo, indeed!!

  • that viola player is really very good!!it's very rare to find violist with a sound and a musicality like that!! bravo!!

  • 2nd violins moves too much.

Movement is good, but to that extent it's just distracting and takes away from their otherwise, gorgeous playing.

  • Yes I totally agree with you it makes me kinda seasick :P...

  • But audience loves him.

BTW:You should see him playing Janacek... :)

  • I'm the audience, and I don't love him.

  • @vcl77 I'm quite surprised the audience's favorite musician from your quartet isn't the first violin player. He's definitely the best one.

But seriously: You all are great, I wish you much succes. Zdravím Františka, alespoň takhle si ho můžu pustit, když ho v reálu prakticky nevídám - pořád někde fidlá... :-)

  • Ok.I didn't write all audience. But still thanks for comment.

  • he probably can't help that he moves so much...

  • I'm in a professional quartet, and I play the same part he does. Again, movement and body language is good and is almost as important and the sound produced, but can also be just as distracting when the two do not compliment each other.

  • @porkyfry Players should move as well as they can, the same with breathing.....its great, do not listen porkyfry

  • @hopalda Yes, do not even bother reading my WHOLE response, or using correct grammar for that matter.

  • Taky zdraviiiim!!!

  • zdraviiiiim-jste husty!Zdravim nejvic Frantu Micu a tesim se zas na plzen!!!Mejte se chlapi a at se dari!!!

  • so saw them play this @ meadowmount last summer
