  • Fantastic. Inspires me to give it a try. Really nice work! Thanks for posting

  • Love it, incredible clouds

  • this is fantastic the program and of course your talents in this video is inspirational to me :) i'm making a short film alongside post graduate students and im in charge of vfx, i'm not asking for a tutorial that's besides the point, but I just wanted to ask you how long did it take you to produce this environment not rendered just produced in the scene file and how long have you been using vue for?

    cheers, Will

  • this is really cool! can i use this?

  • @Loewenthal1 Yes, you may use it if you like. All I ask is a small acknowledgement and a link back to where you got it. Thanks!

  • @barnabas001

    Thanks very much. Done :)

  • Hey thanks for getting back. I sent you a message, look in your youtube inbox to find it.

  • What resolution did you render? I am trying to render a 358 frame animation at 1920 by 810 pixels. Its taking me at least 2 hours for each frame.

    I have a intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 2.67GHz 11.9GB of RAM.

Rendering my whole sequence is going to take 716 hours to render. Im doing the same kind of scene you are, a cloud flythrough. Comparing this to your rendertime. I must be doing something EXTREMLY wrong. Can you give me some advice?

  • @MrSkywalker113 : This sequence was 900 frames total, rendered at 720p x 480p - standard resolution for non-HD TV. Higher resolutions usually result in longer rendering times. One way to find out what's affecting your render time is to just do one frame in preview mode, then watch the render. Where it slows down the most is where you'll find the culprit. Lighting, soft shadows & high anti-alias settings often slow things down. The key is balancing quality with render time.

  • You say it took you 14 hours to render on 4gb of ram what settings did you use ? cos to me that sounds fast compared to my computer which has pretty much same specs

  • @wildesentertainment

First, thank you for the response. I managed to cut the render time a little bit by using Vue's User Settings, where I did use the antialiasing for objects & textures, but kept it on the low side for both (not absolutely sure, but I believe I used 4-8 on both). Also, since I knew my machine was going to be dedicated to the rendering job, I temporarily turned off all un-needed Windows Services & startup programs, so the CPU & RAM were fully at Vue's disposal. Thanks!

  • Awesome !!

  • Nice. How long did the render take? ( how many cores? )

  • Thanks for the comment! I have an Intel quad-core i7-920, 2.67Ghz, 4Gb ram, and I think the whole sequence took about 14 hours or so. It would've taken less, but I opted to beef up the resolution to smooth out some flickering issues.
