  • Am I the only person who remembers watching this clip on Encarta?

  • Classic scene. Thanks for posting it! --Dancougar82

  • One of the biggest misquotes!

  • Thats what they said to Noah.

  • One of the greatest lines in film history.

Right there with "I'll be back" from Terminator!

  • You're gonna need a bigger arrow.

  • @SPARTAN9999999991 ok the arrow jokes suck but that...that was funny no joke.

  • @SPARTAN9999999991 Too bad sharks don't have knees.

  • @PoliticalIncorrectly ...but they do have fins. The fish equivalent of limbs.

  • I'm surprised he didn't drop the cigarette from his mouth. =P

  • the scene was great for 2 reasons......you didnt see the shark until this late in the movie...and as spielberg did...he made you laugh at roy's comment then scream the very next second

  • dumpert

  • dumpert.

  • dumpert! :D

  • Brilliant :)

  • SHARKWATER by Rob Stewart

  • Best scene in the movie, no doubt.

  • Jaws is one of the greatest movies in history, even after more than 30 years it can still scare many people from going into the water.

  • Funny thing is... they should have listened... cause that shit sank.

    Rest in Peace Orca. :/

  • You're title is wrong!

"YOU'RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BOAT" he said!

  • hands down the funniest and my most favorite part of the movie

  • No grammar necessary either

  • His reaction was freakin awesome !

  • With this hook and chocolate I'll land your boy....

  • His cigarette stays in his mouth the whole time :P

  • @Keruaran World Anti-smoking day was not celebrated those days.

  • Roy's face is brilliant :)

  • I actually fear that this will happen to me someday when I'm out fishing

  • awwwwwwwww wook at da cute shark

  • I saw this movie in the theater as a kid when it came out. The only part that made me jump was when the head popped out of the boat.

  • okay who the fuck let chuck norriss gold fish out?

  • @neoprower777 I heard they originally named the shark Chuck but thought the movie viewers would be too afraid watching so renamed it Bruce after Bruce Lee.

  • @tryithere ohhhhh cool

  • @tryithere

Incorrect. The shark was named Bruce after Steven Spielberg's lawyer at the time. Probably because the mechanical shark provided the film crew with several headaches since it almost never worked and they were forced to improvise in order to please the studio that threatened to shut down production.

  • @McLarenMercedes I know the damn story of Bruce. Do you know what a joke is?

  • i am still mad that the screenwriters took credit for this line when in fact Roy Scheider improvised this line....so stupid

  • @sigsters Actors improvise all the time. You can't give them credit for each line, movies would never go off script or would never be made.

  • Sounds like he's saying "We're gonna need a Pigger boat" lol

  • noe speleng rekwired.

  • Cop Out?

  • great line ' you're gonna need a bigger boat ' :) awesome film xD

  • 0:02 whenever I drink to much this is how fast i get up in the morning.

  • "DAMN NATURE...YOU SCARY!"

  • Almost every character backs up as they come to their big realizations...

  • this one dont roar

  • Anyone saying the shark looks fake should just shut up. If you saw that thing while you were swimming you'd be scared shitless

  • Hey it's BRUCE the Great White! I visit him often at Universal Studios Hollywood!

  • fun things are fun

  • the guy up on the boat looks like hes jacking off ...xD

  • keep pressing 1 fucking hilariose.......xD

  • Last week this movie was playing in Stanley park

A lot of people were there

When he said this line, there was so much cheering!

  • I love this movie but I hate how everyone thinks that there is a jaws 5 and 6 THERE IS ONLY 4 JAWS IF YOU THINK THERE'S A 5TH THEN YOUR DUMB GOD

  • @bthielen99 I haven't seen anything on it, but somebody told me they were going to do some new JAWS movie in 3-D (which would be weird bc they already did that).

  • 0:20 isn't there Oo

  • this movie is simply a masterpiece

  • the real magic of this scene is the music, blends perfectly, john williams is a genius

  • Made my own version of Jaws. Now its a comedy!!! Go Check it out

  • This clip makes me want to go watch the entire movie right now...lol

  • thats what I keep telling these homo sapiens......

  • _______________________lol

  • SHARK WEEK

  • The way he whips back after Jaws comes out is awesome lol.

  • Annotation at 0:15 ...No.

  • Comment removed

  • I love in the beginning of this vid how he gets up after seeing jaws his face is just so calm like "A shark. meh I don't care hey dude we need a bigger boat"

  • _______/)___________'\0/'

  • Just about my favorite scene in the whole movie ;-)

  • Maybe the best line in movie history. So simple, and obviously correct too! Why the hell didn't Quint listen?

  • @jegspillerpiano Cause if he would've, he wouldn't have been Quint. It was his ego, the same ego that impelled him to not heed the Chief's observation, to smash the radio when Brody was calling for help and to push the engine to its limit when they were heading back to shore. Quint was like Moby Dick chasing after the white whale and Brody and Hooper unfortunately didn't see it till the end.

  • @TDTD32

I think you meant Captain Ahab, Moby Dick was the white whale.

  • @TDTD32 Quint was like Quint--the stubborn, proud, survivor of a WW II tragedy......and HAD to beat the shark. Brody & Hooper saw it when he revved that engine up and started singing, "Fairwell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies....farewell and adieu you ladies of Spain.....for we've received orders for to sail back to Boston...and e'er no more, shall we see you again..."

  • "Must be a twenty footer, nah twenty five, three tons of him' :D

  • my friends told me some time ago that the shark in jaws wasnt real, but i didnt believe them, so i went on the computer to google it, and then i found out that the shark in the movie actully was a mechanic robot, and wasnt real, did some of u guys know that?

  • @telefonfisse15 you actually thought the shark was real lmao?

  • @reillyboy100 It looked real for people in 1975... And Looked real for me on 1996 when I was 5 watching this movie and crapping my heart out... Now it's my favorite movie :D

  • @RafaGeass yeah when ur young anything can be real, its the beauty of it :)

  • @RafaGeass well suppose at that age i would've probably thought the shark was real myself

  • I'd loose my cigarette in the process

  • Look at the brody's face !! Mythic !

  • in part 2 he does use the poison in the hollow tip bulets he melts them with wax what a film

  • They shoulda had the shark say 'Brody' and then show Chief Brody get scared shitless.

  • Never did understand why they never took Hooper's boat?

  • @Godzie1 Hoopers boat was for studying sharks, neither Brody or Hooper were experienced fisherman, therefore they hired the best shark hunter-Quint-naturally if Quint is in charge he will take his boat.

  • @TheWhiteKnight89 Well as it turned out Quint ended up shark meat & the orca made it's way to the bottom of the sea. But it's true...They needed a bigger boat! :)

  • 0:02 to 0:04

    Dat face.

  • Schneider's look at 0:04 says "I just crapped my pants."

  • What I never understood was that Matt Hooper had a vial of poison that would have killed Jaws, if he could get it into the shark's blood stream. Chief Brody had a .38 police special, that could fire hollow point bullets. So, why didn't they put some of the poison in the hollow point bullets, and shoot the shark several times? I never understood this...

  • @WarBerJr02 Do you have any idea what shark skin is like???Its thicker than LEATHER, its also covered with sharp, tooth-like objects called denticles. Its so rough that brushing past it would flay you. These animals are the result of millions and millions of years of evolution to become the apex predator that they are:)

  • @ralucagymnast As a matter of fact, I do have an idea of what shark skin is like. Even the skin of a megalodon would not stop a .38 cal police special from penetrating, and there is a moment in the movie, where Chief Brody fires at and hits Jaws. Now, if his bullets were laced with that poison that Dr. Hooper had in his kit, well then that would have made for a boring movie wouldn't it?

  • What are you Hooper, some kind of half assed astronaut!

  • feed him leslie wests leg

  • lol your gonna need the fuckin titanic.

  • @cujo9 Haha that made me lol. And ironically, I just finished reading "Cujo" yesterday.

  • Classic...

  • @ohsnapitsme59 my dad was in the movie and thats quite enough to scare you into another country (im serious mate after the movie he moved to ireland and met my mum)

  • hooper drives the boat chief

  • Lol biggest understatement in history.

  • 3 people are uhhh well ummm idk but 3 people suck (no good vid refrences)

  • ahahahaha

ahahahahah that line just doesn't get anymore funnier ahahahahahaha

  • Roy Scheider is such an underrated actor

  • This is like bernanke when he sees the size of US debt.

  • no one can top a better movie than this Jaws is the best film even to today this film is still the best out of all movies it also scared alot of people out of the water "your gonna need a bigger boat" was the most famous line out of any movie ever

  • The original line was "Excuse me sir but I feel that due to the size of the shark you shall require a larger aquatic vehicle" but spielberg felt it was too long and it was shortened

  • Comment removed

  • oh Roy Scheider you are so brilliant.

  • If you watch Jaws backwards, it's about a shark that pukes up so many people that they have to open a beach.

  • @LibraHorse1 why the fuck would you watch jaws backwards?

  • bloody fantastic film, but this line is so over hyped. it's such a simple line and it fits into the dialogue like the rest of the script, and he mentions quite a few times throughout about getting a bigger boat.

  • ha the like button is the size of justin bieber's penis! lol

  • this was an amazing film really. to me it "defined 'the movies"

  • Hence the later movie: TITANIC

  • San jose needed a bigger boat.

  • Hes gonna need a bigger boat, then im goinna need a bigger boat,

    OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAWD!

  • I would give almost anything to be able to go back to opening night of Jaws in 1975 just to see the first audience's reaction to this shot. They must have shit themselves retarded.

  • @cbaile I was there!! Not on opening night but pretty damn close (July 75 i think). By the time this scene rolled around the audience thought we would NEVER see the shark. So everyone was very relaxed and calm. Scheiders line was quite funny for that time. You did not hear "SHIT" very often in movies. The audience began to laugh and at the high point of the laugh.... WHOOOOSH!!! I can distinctly remember being unable to hear what Brody even said after this the buzz was incredible.

  • cop out!!!

  • I remember this scene so well back in the day. This scene literally came out of no where. Everyone was lulled in to thinking we would never see the shark. There was so much chatter after the shark slips back in to the water that you could not even hear Roy's famous line. The film was working at 110%

  • his reaction is so fuckin hilarious after the shark pops up hahahahahaha

  • Man his face reaction after he sees the shark is so fucking hilarious XD

  • ...if I recall correctly, that line "You're going to need a bigger boat" was actually in fact *not* scripted, and something Roy Scheider just ad-libbed off the top of his head; and it fit the scene so well that Spielberg decided to leave it in. (I *believe*, I could well be mistaken about this-- anyone else heard something along the same lines regarding the origin of that line?)

  • @DorianMichaelsIII yes i got the 30th anniversary dvd recently and in the documentery about the film it was mentioned that roy schieder improvised that line!

  • i love how he spring on camera after seeing jaws

  • I remember when I saw this for the first time when I was 7! It came on tv and my dad (being the oh so loving and wonderful father he is) got me and me and my then three year old brother to watch...

Hate you dad for giving me nightmares.

Love you for introducing my now favourite film!

  • ...for those that would prefer to read actual English, "no description necessary"

  • The shark model used in this film is a thousand times more realistic -- and therefore frightening -- than any CGI creature used today. Partially because it's only seen in brief glimpses, but also because it's a real object and therefore looks real, and it's surrounded by real water that splashes realistically when the shark emerges, whereas even the best CGI usually looks fake.

  • @Andulamb CGI doesn't always look fake. When you make a model, you have to work hard to make it realistic, Steven did a real great job with that, but some people didn't. Just look at the shark in The Batman Movie from 1966, that was a model, and it didn't look real... But it also depends and how well you do it in CGI... so it's good either way... Just as hard probably...

  • @matrixfan127 CGI sharks most of the time tend to look fake since this animators can't seem get the movement or proportions right. The best animatronic shark I've seen was in Deep Blue Sea, but the CGI was terrible and fake looking.

  • Epic line with Epic music to go with it oh man gotta love John Williams!

  • "no description necessary."

  • @IllumiNatetheLight i was going to correct it lol

  • If not for Jaws, you do not have Friday the 13th or any of its sequels, Predator, Alien...any of that stuff.

  • @336kgf Jaws has nothing to do with slasher flicks, lol.

  • @bdawg106 Jaws has been named the best horror movie ever made.

  • @336kgf I don't care what mainstream America dubs to be the greatest, it's a matter of opinion. And a shark killing people still has nothing to do with slashers.

  • is it just me or do the older thriller/ horror movies seen more scarier because of less special effects??? and there more classic and they care more about the story line rather than the effects :) gotta love old skool movies :)

  • the line the music OH THE MUSIC MAKES IT LENGENDARY

  • Best. Line. Ever. At least one of them.

  • If you want to watch a real classic cinema, Alfred Hitchcock is the one. Spielberg is shit.

  • @Gencturk92 you are shit

  • @elitestar you cant disagree with Hitchcock's Psycho, that movie is totally amazing. Jaws is a good film aswell, so i dont want to hate on it.

  • best part of the whole damn movie!

  • "W're gonna need a bigger boat."

My response, "Well say hello to my little friend."

  • Bigger boat. They are going to need it.

  • I wonder how Quint's little buddy would've acted if that happened to him

"We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat, Mr. Quint."

  • Just keep on replaying the "You're gonna need another boat" lol, it's funny.

  • they're gonna need a bigger boat, me thinks.

  • R.I.P. Roy Scheider.

  • jaws was actually the first ever blockbuster

  • better line: "we're gonna need a bigger boat and I need clean shorts"

  • Gawd,, I remember when I saw this movie at the theatre.. (Yes , I am an old fart)

That scene scared the daylights out of me...

    Classic Flick

  • @flembag32 I saw you masterbating in the movie theatre in 1975 to this movie.

  • @flembag32 hey you're not an old fart! i don't know if I saw it in the theatre as I was only 9 probably. they don't make movies like this anymore. now it's sequels for everything or ripoffs.

  • @flembag32 You are not alone. This movie totally justified my fear of swimming in the ocean. Plus I live in NE and have visited Martha's Vineyard enough to make the movie feel real, including identifying some of the sites.

  • Holy FUCK! :o

  • This scene was never in the script, but it fit so perfectly with the movie itself, Bravisimo Steven Speilberg

  • Roy Sheider actually ad -libbed that most famous line. Speilberg loved it so much they kept it and now its movie history!!

  • Jaws - Favorite movie of all time

Captain Quint - Favorite movie character of all time.

  • jaws was a awesome movie !

  • Back when Stephen Spielberg was Hollywood's Golden Boy, actually, I like most of his films even today. Jaws and Close Encounters are still my favorites of his older films. Dreyfuss was genius in both of them.

  • @pspboy7 What about Duel? With Dennis Weaver? That was amazing too; in fact, the whole idea of making the movie of the book Jaws was born from that film. The idea of being pursued by a monster; in Duel it was the giant truck, in Jaws, it was the monster Great White Shark:)

  • Possibly the greatest line in cinema history.

  • @artysmokes Definitely among the best

  • @artysmokes i love the smell of napalm in the morning scene and the uss indianapolis scene. 2 best acting jobs from the entire freakin decade of the 70's period

  • @artysmokes Thank the late, great Roy Scheider...He ad libbed it!

  • @artysmokes hey man dont forget Blain's "I aint got time to bleed"

  • @artysmokes what about "Smile you son of a b-BOOM!!!

  • @artysmokes also good for a sex line

  • @artysmokes and it was improvised. Thank you Roy Schneider

  • This movie still gets my heart racing.

  • The music in this film is fantastic

  • @Supernim1 It won John Williams an Oscar

  • As I mentioned elsewhere, I -was- learning to scuba dive off California, with my instructor, and we were on the bottom when this shadow goes by overhead.

    1. It WAS bigger then the dive boat we were using.

    2. We were free diving, and there WAS no shark cage.

    3. I shit my wetsuit (so did the instructor). I freely admit it.

    4. Never been back in the ocean (swimming at least) ever again.

  • Best scene of the movie!

  • Smile you son of a....

  • Best moment in movie history?

  • I'd be scared too! Fuck! Sharks scare me!

  • Believe it or not, this line wasn't in the script. Roy Scheider ad-libbed it.

  • No description necessary. FTFY

  • man if that had been me i would've screamed my head off
