If living life as Sue would keep me near you - there would be another boy named Sue. You are still amazing - with a magical smile -- keep enjoying life.
It's a very cool rendition !! Shane, including those sympathetics outtakes, he he, ;) :) ; Johnny Cash is awesome, I like it . I did enjoy it really, thanks for sharing it ;) :D
Sue..uh Shane - this was so cool. I loved that you had fun with it. And I know that Johnny up in the heavens or maybe not there ha ha has a big smile on his face hearing this cover. You never disappoint .
(1) There was a boy named Stacey in Tennessee. Born in 1968. He probably was not happy with his name during school, and then later in the Army ... too many "gay" jokes. So, when he went into politics, with the Republicans, he started fighting for a bill that would keep boys safe from being taunted as "gay", because the bill is the "Don't ay gay" bill. Passed the Senate just the other day. The law will prohibit teachers from discussing homosexuality, and forbid kids to use the word "gay".
(2) Senator Stacey Campfield struggled for 6 years for his bill to become a law. It will, unless stipped before final installation next January, mean that teachers are only allowed to ralk about heterosexuality as the only acceptable form of sexuality. If they disobey, they can go to jail (up to 30 days). Kids who use the word gay will get detetion. And a gay boy who gets bullied will not be able to get help from his teachers, because of the "Don't say gay" law.
(3) Two more things. What this law rules will only apply for Elementary School and Middle School before 9th grade. From then on, everything goes miraculously "back to normal (?)" for everyone.
And the part about Stacey Campfield being bullied and laughted at for his first name, and called gay, is an assumption of mine. Let me add, though, that he, at he age of 43, is stil single and as no kids.
Stil, I guess it was not the best idea his parents had, to call their son Stacey.
@Truedantalion For those who might not be knowledgeable about US government, let me point out that Sen. Campfield is a state senator, not a US senator, and this law would have applied only in the state of Tennessee, not the whole US. The people of Tennessee are predominately conservative evangelical Christians. A law like this would have gotten little support in most of the US. Anyway, it has failed in the Tennessee House of Representatives, so it won't be law even there, at least for now.
As far as my information goes, the House of Representatives will vote on the "Don't say gay" bill / law only next year. Could you send me a link to your source, please? As the complete link to any news website won't show here, please send me a message. Thanks in advance; I'm always open to updating my knowledge.
Ah ... Good. Or - *not* so good, as the law is still on the table. Well, we will see how much protest etc. this law will stir up, still, with e.h. George Takei's "it's okay to be Takei" campaign on the roll. Has gotten quite a bit of media attention already, and Takei's video went viral. Although the approach is comedic on the surface, Takei knows to argue very seriously.
Okay, the "Senator named Stacey" take a step back, please, so I nowl can say:
Oh, and by the way: Of course it's a law that "only" applies in the state of Tennessee. But you know what? This dies not make the idiocy of it any smaller. Only one single law crippled by this grotesque law is one too much already.
@Truedantalion I agree, but because this channel has an international audience, I wanted to point out that Tennessee is an unusually backward place in this regard. I don't want people to get the impression that such an attitude towards gay people is typical of the US as a whole.
I remember this song from when I was in about the 9th grade working in the office for my Dad's business many eons ago, that is how OLD it is,,,maybe about 1969?
Well done!! Brings back memories of slaving away for $20 for a Saturday morning of work stuffing envelopes and things...
Haha! I don't think it was because you were in your jammies. I once shot an elephant in my jammies. How that elephant got in my jammies I'll never know. :S

@Truedantalion You're correct. I had misread a story about a previous failure to pass the bill.

I remember that song by Johnny Cash. It sure is a TOUGH GUY song - OH DUH!
The old guy will probably fall into his coffin still trying to throw his last punch (what a waste!)
Obviously a very hard song to sing - the lyric is so crowded - but you made it pretty well, imo :)

And for an elephant who plays guitar in his jammies, it's is rather well done.
