The students in this class are all adults, and not kids, and they were not doing the pouring. We realize, though, that more attention needed to be paid to lab safety. Since this was recorded two years ago, we have tightened up our lab policies.
That's a terrific class wish I had something like that when i was in school. I am curious why are there students walking around in shorts in a place where molten metal is being poured? Molten metal is something someone should always have a healthy respect for. Its like going out into the ocean in a sailboat you always bring your safety gear because you never know when something might happen!
As a former shop teacher and the son of a shop teacher I liked seeing the methods and facility in action. I'm curious about the lack of shoe, shin guards, and face shields in the pouring area; has conventional wisdom changed since my classes in the 70's?
@2EyezOnU Yeah, there are some lab safety reminders that need to be addressed. Our lab tech, though, did the actual pouring. Thanks for watching. This is one of the first labs our sophomores do in the MSE major. The Ohio Stadium molds are old ashtray form from the 1930s. They're great souvenirs. :)
WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE JACKASSSED KIDS DOING IN SHORTS?
