Well ok, now THAT is impressive. I understood how he escaped the booth (kinda) but getting to the chandelier that quickly. Damn. Hats of to you Burton! :D
Well, just guessing. For me there's a double of him for sure. I think he slides into a chamber underneath her, and his double is actually on top of that chandelier.
I just have to wonder... how does he get up to the chandelier so damned fast? Even if there was a staircase in the middle of the theater and he ran up in plain view, he wouldn't make it.
It's a really good, showboat of an illusion. There are questions that never get answered, though. Why is there a ladder attached to the outside of the bit of wall that never moves? What the hell is that pole for? Why does he dress like Simon Cowell?
There are all these theories being thrown around about pivot mirrors and Lance hiding behind a 5 inch curtain, but I just don't see how that's possible with the set up of the box and the size of a person???
I think a more plausible theory would be the age-old trap door that Penn and Teller over use. You can see around 1:15 that the woman in the box does this odd forward motion, almost like she's trying to open or step in front of a trap door, but her cloke stays attacked to the pole? Odd.
Whats annoying is that by the laws of magic and illusion, this is impossible! Unless he has a look alike, which I don't think he does, because his look alike would have to talk like him.
I went to his performance a few days ago, and I sat in the first row. I still could not figure out how he did some of the stuff that he did. He did a similar trick, but they acted like they were hanging him from a noose, and he suddendly appeared from the chandalier. Amazing illusionist.
An amazing magician and entertainer and the best thing is that he is even more impressive in his live show. I am one of many who took up magic after being inspired by his wizardry plus he is a true gentleman.
Lance Burton is one of the best magicians in Vegas. Classic magic is his forte. Copperfield may be the King of the no expense spared extravaganza, but the real magic is performed by Lance. He IS the BEST.
he had 27 seconds to get upstairs

you know lance is one of the best magicians. but you have to agree. close-up magic is 100 times better than stage.

Penn and Teller agree with you, as do I.

argh, 1:30 - 1:31 there's an obvious change in the shot, at first I thought it was an intentional lighting change, but it's not :(
