This is the best video I could find, thanks so much, and I disagree, this video isn't obsolete because many haven't left WOTLK. Me included. And I fell into the first hole, so pissed.
@booman742 Yes it is :) However, since the Cataclysm, this is no longer a "secret" hidden place and there's actually a quest line that takes you into Shatterspear. So this video is now obsolete. It used to not have an accessible tunnel to reach it - you had to use this method (or a similar fall method) to get there. Now that it's been opened up and made available this video is no longer needed :( Shame... I liked it better when it was a "secret" and I didn't have to kill the trolls.
@pinktoque Dang thats kinda sad, i went there a while ago and saw Night elfs that killed them. pretty cool video tho its good to remember the good ol days.
Cataclysm. The whole village has been totally destroyed by night elves. Not even one troll survived. The stupid Garrosh force-commanded those trolls to attack the night elves. The Nelves did payback by wiping the whole village and destroying every troll building.
@Billoman03 - it really is sad, isn't it? I mean... you had to assume that Blizz would eventually do something with Shatterspear Village seeing as how it was "unaccessible" but in-game... but I never imagined they'd go this far! I was sad when I was questing on my new Alliance lowbie and was sent to destroy them all :(
@pinktoque Totally sad. This happened to show the results of fool war-lover commanders that break peace, not only in Azeroth. Garrosh chat-fought against Vol'jin and banished him and his trolls from Orgrimmar. Its like he had sent the shatterspears to a suicide mission, like he wanted to get rid of trolls.
i was able to do this with my rogue and a few bandages. easy to follow! just a note, where you said there was hole #2, i fell into it, but i was able to go around and get to the same place where you used levitate. ^_^
@SupaNova191 Its called an RP fly over spot. Places you aren't suppose to get to and are only suppose to be able to see while on a flight path - as explained to me by a GM while in the process of getting banned for 3 days >.> Oh yeah, killing the trolls is a no no, exploring is a "punt to a random location that uses up your hearth" as well. lol.
just remember when u find the rout and u get to the first edge and thereafter DONT jump just fall. and fall carefully. its not hard once u do it a couple times. real basic path down the mountain :)
you can do this without slow fall or levitation or noggenfogger. any class can make it if they follow the path of trees and ledges slowly downward. just heal between. i recommend using a good fortitude elixir to increase health and the usual buffs to increase armor. i have an advantage with catform but i brought a dk with me and he made it just fine :) he just landed where i landed so it can be done without magic!!
Yup, I hear there's other ways to do it, or other spots to jump down at. Except I've not seen videos to show people how to do that, so they might not find "if you're lucky you can land in the water and live" to be easier if they don't know where to go :P
@pinktoque i guess no man's land doesn't apply to women ? heh just kiddin.
although if you wanna make the jump fast then jump with your mount then cast slowfall or levitate .. or get a shammy to thunderstorm you so you can fly at 350% of normal speed :P
i managed to get down this hill without slow fall on the part that "requires" slow fall.. idfk how i did it, i was just super extremely careful.. and used a few trees that were lodged beside the down hill slopes of the mountain to wedge myself between and break my fall, LOL
Awesome! I bet it took quite a bit of time -- were you able to easily skirt the big holes or did you go a different route than in the video? Let me know if you make a video on foot and I'll feature it -- just do it in response to this one. Thanks for sharing!
Noggenfogger Elixir, Slow Fall spell if you're a Mage, Levitate spell if you're a Priest, Parachute Cloak if you're an engineer... or read some other suggestions in the comments section here for more ideas.
You are not doing anything illegal to reach this spot -- you are using game mechanics to reach the spot such as various legal slow fall methods. You are just jumping over the natural terrain of the game world -- not doing anything to manipulate it or exploit it. Long ago there was something called "wall walking" which I believe was deemed "illegal" but you are simply jumping on hills and nothing fishy or shady. Enjoy.
This isn't like old school Hyjal where devs had up construction signs to indicate you weren't supposed to be there. Why do you think places like this were put in game? For explorers. You're doing nothing illegal -- just jumping over terrain. Not exploiting it, not doing anything wrong -- jumping over terrain. You're using all in-game mechanics to float down. If Blizz didn't want us to go there, they'd have changed the terrain by now -- this has been around forever.
I did it the easier way in which you have to fall 2 times but not as long as this. Worked with Noggenfogger though I was really lucky falling into some water before the waterfall... then I used it again to fall down to the village. :P
It is officially "Shatterspear Village" as the trolls are all Shatterspear trolls (according to their mob name above their head) but it has been nicknamed the "dancing troll village" for so long because that's all it seems to be -- a village of dancing trolls. Hence the nickname.
There's no need for slow fall of any kind - just normal jump. Just use the mountain's "steps" to get down one step at each time. The first one can be hard but then it's easy.
I'm sure it's possible with very careful calculations to go down the side of the mountain... however, just using a slow fall method and jumping over gets you there faster with less chance for death ;) If you die while there, you cannot get back to your body. Better to jump safely than possibly fall too far or miscalculate a jump and die.
I wish I know how to get a slow fall but since not everyone have access to slow fall it left most of us to try without it. Anyway it's not that hard at all. Only the first step is little bit hard.
Everyone does have access to a slow fall method. You have to be at least level 30 to have a mount to get up to the top of the mountain before jumping. You could have a mage cast Slow Fall on you now, or a priest to cast Levitate. At level 35+ (which is recommended - being level 60 is recommended for the epic mount anyway) you can use Noggenfogger Elixir. Just drink it until you get the slow fall effect. Jumping down the side is totally great, but it's not impossible to have a slow fall method.

Please read the credits at the end for all of the information about the song title, album, etc. You can hear it in-game if you are Horde and do a quest to return a necklace to Sylvanas. Sylvanas will then sing the song and it can be heard all over Undercity. The quest starts from a drop in Ghostlands.
I just did this a few seconds ago, thanks for the video. I'm a paladin and you can make the final fall by using a shield without going into any holes for anybody who's curious.
Yes, as mentioned in earlier comments, you can use Noggenfogger elixir from Gadgetzan. You can also use a Parachute Cloak if you are an Engineer. And as of the last patch, I believe, Priests can cast Levitate on allies and Mages can cast Slow Fall on allies, so take a Priest or Mage with you if you don't have any Noggenfogger.
Haha I made it down with no slowfall! Im a lvl 60 rogue with 4300 health (and safe fall but that dosnt help much) you just have to be careful walk backwards and side to side make sure ti land on the trees as you go down =D thnx for the vid I swam all the way around for like an hour looking for an opening now I can brag to my brother that im there.
the "Unstuck" feature didn't work for me. When I failed getting there the first try and got stuck in a hole in the mountain, I had to log out for awhile and wait for my hearthstone because using "unstuck" did nothing. Not that I would complain to a GM since most likely they'd not be happy that I got stuck and needed assistance in an unreachable/normal area.
divine shield protects from anything now, can reach the sky of northrend and to dont lose time flying with my mount till the ground i dismount and use d shield
You should make a video about how to get behind the ZG Portal(It is still doable, even in 3.0.3, quite easy to, and it's pretty in the none-Instanced ZG)
The non-instance is a trap! There are multiple spots where you can get stuck and only HS will save you. Also, it bugs as most of the objects (buildings statues etc) are there twice, inside of each other but slightly offset.
Also, it lacks the sky and hue of the instance :<
I would just like to confirm this is totally doable and that alliance players can attack them but they are natural so if you just wana join in the party you can, blasted down the dancers with holy nova and a random blue dropped :o plate belt called girdle of uther
It is a "hidden" place within the game that you cannot access otherwise, which is something to do when you're bored of the everyday grind or leveling/badge farming/pvp. I like to go here to fish myself. You don't catch anything exciting, but it's quiet and very pretty. It's interesting to find these little hidden gems that most don't take the time to go and see for themselves. Some people, like those that have commented here, find enjoyment doing more than just grinding.
Im a Paladin and I can confirm that using Divine Shield (aka bubble) is a very good way of landing safely in the village. Also note that this is sill completely possible in the latest patch 3.0.3
Well, as others have suggested, there's other spells and things you can try. Slowfall or Levitate works, you can use the Engineer parachute cape, soulstone (die and soulstone rez) as a Warlock, it was suggested you could try the Pally bubble (but not confirmed), or drink Noggenfogger Elixir until you get the slow fall buff from it. Don't die, though, or you have to spirit rez since you won't be able to reach your body otherwise.
I think I remember reading somewhere that the length of the fall down into the village is longer than the parachute cloak will last, so it might be best to keep that in mind if you use the cloak... have it equipped but don't activate it until you're halfway down or so, just to be safe. Also try to aim for the lake there so you hit water instead. About 60% of the time I was able to hit the lake, but it's not easy to aim for it because you can't see it from the jump spot. Good luck!
The mobs here are around 52-54 i believe and have a second line designating them as a faction but they dont give rep when killed .They are pretty easy to kill unless you pull the whole group of dancers at one time. They are also neutral to alliance if I remember correctly but can be attacked if you choose to.
Do you have some sort of video or can point me in the direction of a video that shows the Felwood method? Because going this route actually puts you in Felwood for part of the trip -- you're in between Winterspring & Felwood to get started. I'd be interested in seeing a different method for getting to Shatterspear Village, so please share a video of it or something.
I am not sure what you mean -- can you be more specific? I feel the video is very clear on exactly where to go and where to jump, etc. to land in Shatterspear Village. That's the point of the video. If you go where it tells you in Winterspring and follow the video, you should be able to replicate what I do to get there.
At the slow falling stage I buffed with slow fall since I'm a mage and mounted up. After that, I ran out from the cliff and waited for the sight of the village below. I then dismounted and dispelled slow fall and started falling towards the village. A few secs before landing I iceblocked. Piece of cake with great precision. Great vid btw.
i got there by slowly down the mount ether with my enginner and the slow fal cloak fergot the name and my pally by bubbleing :D nice vid of that area dident know the name was shatterspear
Definitely! If you're an engineer, the parachute cloak is a good idea. I've never had a paladin nor tried the bubble idea, not sure that would work going all the way down but if you've had luck that's great!
I'm pretty sure you can just use Noggenfogger Elixir to get the slow fall effect -- you may need several drinks before you get the slow fall one (as opposed to the skelton or shrinking effect) and then jump. I'd drink when you're on the top of the mountain and ready to go just to make sure you have enough time to get to the bottom.
i got there yesterday. instead of jummping u got to the left and u jump a few cliffs (jump then eat the jump) then the last jump u goota land in the river lol
Thanks for the info on the trolls guys; my only two characters with mounts are Alliance and barely over 40.
Some quickie info: the trolls are neutral to Alliance but can be attacked, with the bizarre exception of any named trolls. They're also Horde-aligned...with the exception of the named ones. There's some cool stuff around here, like huts, a storage cave, a lake, and of course the dancing. Definitely recommended. =D
Thank you! I have only been here as Horde, but Wowhead shows the Shatterspear Trolls as aggressive towards Alliance so I would be careful. Also, if you die while making your way down the mountains you will be forced to spirit rez because you'll have no way to navigate back to your corpse. Good luck and enjoy!
Cool! Good to know for sure -- so the Shatterspear trolls are neutral to Alliance. Thanks for clearing that up! This song comes from the Burning Crusade Soundtrack, like it says in the credits :)
I wasn't sure in my old comment since I've only been there as horde, but a gnome mage has cleared it up for us... the Shatterspear trolls are neutral towards alliance. Good luck!

Why didn't you just use HS? or if it was on cd, log out and play on another char until the cd is gone? :P

ok great you got in but how you get out?
RaptorDino1992 3 years ago
Hearthstone. There is no other way out, as you can see from how difficult it is to get in and how far you fall with the final jump.
pinktoque 3 years ago
...Or taking unstuck.
Fimwind 3 years ago
the "Unstuck" feature didn't work for me. When I failed getting there the first try and got stuck in a hole in the mountain, I had to log out for awhile and wait for my hearthstone because using "unstuck" did nothing. Not that I would complain to a GM since most likely they'd not be happy that I got stuck and needed assistance in an unreachable/normal area.

it is also called the danceing troll vilage :) ijust dont no why thow -.-?
CRC1000 3 years ago
It's called the Dancing Troll Village because there are tons of trolls just dancing.

Good times. I run there when I'm bored.

im a paladin, would my bubble hearth work in place of slow fall?
ClaoOfRavenholdt 3 years ago
As far as I know, nope. Also, you prolly mean just bubble, bubble heart means shield + heartstone...
Anyways, the shield does not protect against falling damage.
Aonsaithya 3 years ago
divine shield protects from anything now, can reach the sky of northrend and to dont lose time flying with my mount till the ground i dismount and use d shield
Ferroviario8 3 years ago
You should make a video about how to get behind the ZG Portal(It is still doable, even in 3.0.3, quite easy to, and it's pretty in the none-Instanced ZG)
Luckymatt102 3 years ago
The non-instance is a trap! There are multiple spots where you can get stuck and only HS will save you. Also, it bugs as most of the objects (buildings statues etc) are there twice, inside of each other but slightly offset.
Also, it lacks the sky and hue of the instance :<

I would just like to confirm this is totally doable and that alliance players can attack them but they are natural so if you just wana join in the party you can, blasted down the dancers with holy nova and a random blue dropped :o plate belt called girdle of uther

why would i want to go here.... other than wasting 10 min of my life....
joekiski21 3 years ago
It is a "hidden" place within the game that you cannot access otherwise, which is something to do when you're bored of the everyday grind or leveling/badge farming/pvp. I like to go here to fish myself. You don't catch anything exciting, but it's quiet and very pretty. It's interesting to find these little hidden gems that most don't take the time to go and see for themselves. Some people, like those that have commented here, find enjoyment doing more than just grinding.
pinktoque 3 years ago
Im a Paladin and I can confirm that using Divine Shield (aka bubble) is a very good way of landing safely in the village. Also note that this is sill completely possible in the latest patch 3.0.3
Shanker420 3 years ago
I should also point out that my path differs from this one quite a bit, but both have the same result =)
Shanker420 3 years ago
Thank you for confirming :)
pinktoque 3 years ago
what if you don't have snowfall?
HollywoodLego 3 years ago
Well, as others have suggested, there's other spells and things you can try. Slowfall or Levitate works, you can use the Engineer parachute cape, soulstone (die and soulstone rez) as a Warlock, it was suggested you could try the Pally bubble (but not confirmed), or drink Noggenfogger Elixir until you get the slow fall buff from it. Don't die, though, or you have to spirit rez since you won't be able to reach your body otherwise.
pinktoque 3 years ago
use noggenfogger, gives the same effect.
netsharp 3 years ago
Slow fall? That's jump => die => soulstone for me ^^
DudeJelle 3 years ago
oh lol that village
Dubbers94 3 years ago
Very cool. Would a pally bubble suffice?
FelixLGato 3 years ago
Honestly I am not sure, as I've never played a pally before to try. Hopefully someone who has tried it as a pally can answer :)
pinktoque 3 years ago
im also an engineer so i could make a parachute cloak, just need the schematic xD
FelixLGato 3 years ago
I think I remember reading somewhere that the length of the fall down into the village is longer than the parachute cloak will last, so it might be best to keep that in mind if you use the cloak... have it equipped but don't activate it until you're halfway down or so, just to be safe. Also try to aim for the lake there so you hit water instead. About 60% of the time I was able to hit the lake, but it's not easy to aim for it because you can't see it from the jump spot. Good luck!
pinktoque 3 years ago
Thanks, and if for some reason it all goes horribly wrong, I have my bubble! lol
FelixLGato 3 years ago
Parachute Cloak+Rocket boots extreme PWN the mages slow fall XD
TakacsPeter 3 years ago
no it doesnt stop falling damage
Shyssirixus 3 years ago
The mobs here are around 52-54 i believe and have a second line designating them as a faction but they dont give rep when killed .They are pretty easy to kill unless you pull the whole group of dancers at one time. They are also neutral to alliance if I remember correctly but can be attacked if you choose to.

theres an easier way i down it so many times
polearmsong 3 years ago
Cool. I don't know of any other way and this is the way I managed it and made it down. I'd be interested to see how YOU do it.
pinktoque 3 years ago
I actually usually go from Felwood, it's way easier. :p
johraven 3 years ago
Do you have some sort of video or can point me in the direction of a video that shows the Felwood method? Because going this route actually puts you in Felwood for part of the trip -- you're in between Winterspring & Felwood to get started. I'd be interested in seeing a different method for getting to Shatterspear Village, so please share a video of it or something.
pinktoque 3 years ago
I don't have movie making thiny but, you have to go to the top of felwood up a tree and to the mountaints. : / kinda hard to explain. :<<<

Cheers for the new route, wonder if this village is gonna be of any use in wotlk because the village has trolls with specific names.
puredruid 3 years ago
so what is the exact place u go to to get there?
NoNaMaAvAiLbLe 3 years ago
I am not sure what you mean -- can you be more specific? I feel the video is very clear on exactly where to go and where to jump, etc. to land in Shatterspear Village. That's the point of the video. If you go where it tells you in Winterspring and follow the video, you should be able to replicate what I do to get there.
pinktoque 3 years ago
Nvm i figured out where. I just didnt know where the furbolg cave was. Thanks for the video.
NoNaMaAvAiLbLe 3 years ago
Thanks Pink!
Gratz for your job!
I have a quest for you, but, can you send me private message?
phsawebcreator 3 years ago
what is the song, please?
phsawebcreator 3 years ago
The credits lists the songs I used in the video. As it says in the credits...
Music is from the Burning Crusade Soundtrack. The songs are "Lament of the Highborne" and "Silvermoon City."
pinktoque 3 years ago
At the slow falling stage I buffed with slow fall since I'm a mage and mounted up. After that, I ran out from the cliff and waited for the sight of the village below. I then dismounted and dispelled slow fall and started falling towards the village. A few secs before landing I iceblocked. Piece of cake with great precision. Great vid btw.
666vickie666 3 years ago
i got there by slowly down the mount ether with my enginner and the slow fal cloak fergot the name and my pally by bubbleing :D nice vid of that area dident know the name was shatterspear
i call it Danceing troll village :D
ForEverCharmed599 3 years ago
Definitely! If you're an engineer, the parachute cloak is a good idea. I've never had a paladin nor tried the bubble idea, not sure that would work going all the way down but if you've had luck that's great!
pinktoque 3 years ago
OK well not how but what can I use to do the long fall part?
HyugaMonkey94 3 years ago
I'm pretty sure you can just use Noggenfogger Elixir to get the slow fall effect -- you may need several drinks before you get the slow fall one (as opposed to the skelton or shrinking effect) and then jump. I'd drink when you're on the top of the mountain and ready to go just to make sure you have enough time to get to the bottom.
pinktoque 3 years ago
Ok i was wondering can a hunter get there and how?
HyugaMonkey94 3 years ago
i got there yesterday. instead of jummping u got to the left and u jump a few cliffs (jump then eat the jump) then the last jump u goota land in the river lol
videodude1994 3 years ago
Thanks for the info on the trolls guys; my only two characters with mounts are Alliance and barely over 40.
Some quickie info: the trolls are neutral to Alliance but can be attacked, with the bizarre exception of any named trolls. They're also Horde-aligned...with the exception of the named ones. There's some cool stuff around here, like huts, a storage cave, a lake, and of course the dancing. Definitely recommended. =D
trixinator2 3 years ago
Thank you! I have only been here as Horde, but Wowhead shows the Shatterspear Trolls as aggressive towards Alliance so I would be careful. Also, if you die while making your way down the mountains you will be forced to spirit rez because you'll have no way to navigate back to your corpse. Good luck and enjoy!
pinktoque 3 years ago
I just went there on my gnome mage, and they were yellow name for me
and where can i get this song?
diameinz 3 years ago
Cool! Good to know for sure -- so the Shatterspear trolls are neutral to Alliance. Thanks for clearing that up! This song comes from the Burning Crusade Soundtrack, like it says in the credits :)
pinktoque 3 years ago
Thank you for making this!
bayson 3 years ago
Are the trolls friendly to Alliance?
trixinator2 3 years ago
I wasn't sure in my old comment since I've only been there as horde, but a gnome mage has cleared it up for us... the Shatterspear trolls are neutral towards alliance. Good luck!
pinktoque 3 years ago
what if you dont have slow fall and you die, would you be able to get back to your body?
