  • FUCK CANADA FREE QUEBEC

    VIVA LE QUEBEC LIBRE!

  • @trollionaire lol fool, Quebecois voted and independence was voted down!!

  • @phantomsuccour who says you have to vote for your independence?

  • @trollionaire well it's called self determination and the majority of Quebecois voted against independence.

  • @phantomsuccour they will fight for it, just you wait

  • @trollionaire lol try and get creamed. that is violating a country's sovereignty. The majority of Quebecois voted against independence, so you losers can keep on dreaming!!

  • great video yeahh

  • And Greeks aren't living statues and Chinese people don't do everything in perfect synchronization. It's just a display for pomp and celebration.

  • We'll be paying for this corporate cluster f**k for many years to come. Thanks Gordy.

  • Actually the Canada line, Whistler hwy upgrade, and convention centre were going to be done regardless. The sea 2 sky corridor and conventions are money makers for us. As for the Canada line - are you arguing against public transit?. Of course there is the Olympic village, unless we see a real estate crash the cost will be re-couped. Then there is the money from sponsorship, sales, taxes etc. Then the thousands of jobs - unless of course your case is that these people should not have jobs?

  • @MrSparwoodapple Hmm, I live in vancouver and no one is buying the olympic village homes, but the other stuff is good though lol

  • Hi!I'm Japanese. And I'm big fun of sarah mclachlan.I ask to everywhere. They don't support today.Because so late to ask about it .I want to buy her torch relays scean to the Olympic flameholder rasing. And especially whole of 2010 Vancouber Olympic opening ceremony .

Please ,somebody tell me.Long Journey...canadian did Very Very wonderwul Job! I can feel it .

I have no idea to get a video.

Please somebody tell me where can I get video.

    Greeting from Japan.

  • Go Canada Go, you put up an amzing party and right now you are doing the same for the Paralympics. Go Canada Go. Thank you to all.

  • full hd opening is on stream2watch com enjoyed it

  • Canadians can sure throw one hell of a party.

I wish the IOC would lift the ban on putting Olympics video clips on public video venues like YT.

  • Fuckheads, show the olympics instead of these morons.

  • You can see the video of KD Lang singing hallelujah at the opening at

    w w w OlympicsWinter2010 com

  • @howusingtonite why would we want to???

  • Canada did'nt fail.....really if they did than most people are wrong but thanks for your support for Canada wining the GOLD CROWN ,most gold won by a host country

  • I really like this video.

  • omg stop complaining!!

i thought the opening ceremonies was amazing ! i really loved it. i wanna see u complainers do something better.

  • kd lang stole the show

  • I agree i thought the opening ceremony was Way cooler this year, than it was in SLC.

  • To everyone criticizing the opening ceremonies: what would YOU do? How would YOU have structured them? What would YOU have chosen to show the world about Vancouver, BC, AND Canada?

An honest open question. It's not an easy thing to do.

I loved the ceremonies, thought they were amazing, and applaud the efforts of everyone involved.

  • Loved those whales!!!! And the forest with the ballet dancers from Alberta.Beautiful. But on T.V. I could have done without play by play by those annoying Brian and Loyd newsguys. O.K. I get it!! I can SEE the electric circles moving towards the crowd!! SHUT YOUR YAPS!!!! I hope this is on DVD where you can turn off the commentary,

  • I just dont udertand why Garou's song isnt on itunes ;/

  • @TheElMoIsEviL

    Ugh.. the residential schools... :(

How horrible was that! I think if they actually taught us our negative history in schools, more people would have a higher respect for the aboriginals. I mean, we're getting there, but there is a long way to go. If they teach about the holocaust in Germany, the likely hood of "history repeating" is much less.

  • Tanku

  • I watched the opening ceromonies. I'm glad the aboriginals were recognized. Only 30 or so years ago they were called chugs. I grew up poor & we were the white rednecks & we partied with the natives. The reserve was a dump & most natives died before they were 40 yrs old. Now my friend is the chief. They have taken back their name & culture & are a proud people. I am ashamed of my white elders that treated them like shit.

  • I was at the opening of the Olympics in China and Australia, and I really liked the opening in Vancouver (although I watched it on TV).

  • that fun

  • what happen to our opening ceremonies? the Olympic Caudlron where is it? lost far away from the Stadium not even a close distance to the olympic village. stadium without a cauldron without a flame doesnt feel like OLYMPICS. the helicopter shot of the stadium looks dark and black. should have flooded with outdoor lights or video effects. this is Vancouver we have so many talented graphic designers to decorate the outdoor roof of the stadium.

  • ya i want to see more canadian beavers.

  • I thought this was supposed to be global event. Aren't the olympics supposed to bring the world together. Bullshit!!! It's just a cash grab. I'm a Canadian living in Singapore and haven't seen a thing. Blackouts and viewing restrictions all over the Net. Screw VANOC and the IOC. Go count your cash assholes.

  • Don't blame The Canucks, if you are in Singapore, didn;t ever fucking occur to you that the town you live in is responsible for not broadcasting the progam over the net and otherwise?

  • Vancouver is awsome!

  • BC BUD FTW!

  • There are fucking bears in Vancouver! Coquitlam is part of the GVA (Greater Vancouver Area), I live there and we have bears in our backyards.

  • Why would anyone on youtube care whether you liked it or whether you dozed off?

  • Obviously, you did care. Or else you wouldn't have made that comment :)

  • Dream on.

  • oh gosh people. relax it was an open ceremony for the olympics and its not just supposed to represent vancouver but all of canada to showcase our history and pride. now whats really important are the games. go canada and all the best to the rest.

  • hey everyone check out our trailer called the changing .

  • well i dunno, i lived in australia when sydney 2000 happened... vancouver is just as awesome so far =]

  • lol, the guy who ex produced is form another country! lol. And what a botch, the torch didn't even work properly... I love watching the strain on those hosts faces... Gretzky's smile went frozen for a few seconds... priceless. Talk about awkward! Hello, it's not working! lol... Canadian's are humble for a reason!

  • That poet dude (Shane Koyczan) looked liked the guy down the street who works at the video rental store. No scratch that, the video store guy dresses better. Is this the best and brightest Canada can offer? No. Not even close. It's a damn shame our tax dollars were spent on this mess. KD Lang? Don't even get me started...

  • The opening was so cool! The lights, dancing, celebration, everything! I love Canada :)

Wish i could have been there in Vancouver to see it live(looks beautiful!) but school is holding me back :'(.

  • how you feel about the world is a refletion of self, someone needs to buy you a teddy bear!

  • i fucking live in canada u cunt vanoc just sucks giant dick and so do you and teddy bears are for faggets and chicks so stfu and suck some cock and who the FUck is talking about the world u dont know how to read im talkiin about vancouver and vancoc u cunt

  • how bout a PONY?

  • vancouver is awesome!

  • 50 to 70 cm´s of rain with 50 kph winds is en route for tommorows games. It´s gonna really suck tommorow - and you thought the first 2 days were miserable?? I cant wait to see how many people are gonna stand outside watching an outdoor tv projection of the game rather than going home and watching it on an HD tv screen next to a gas fire place.

Are you guys homeless or something??

  • only? here in BC that is what we call "sissy rain."

It will be another glorious day in Vancouver.

  • hey ! Canada does not t belong to your kind, white boy

  • @Takazn

The Opening ceremonies were amazing ! Just saying :)

..........and NO, we Canadians are not JUST dancing aboriginals nor are we JUST kazoo players

  • @Takazn you are fucking stupid it showed the 4 tribes that originated in CAnada wow learn your history before you comment

  • @WoWVeriman Ouu im scared. Rage somewhere else more recent. Highest voted comment for a reason. Vancouverdan below agrees.

  • @Takazn lol...

  • It wasn't good

  • It's not dirty, what are you talking about.

It doesn't rain all the time, probably once because you're here.

And there's something to do if you actually got your butt up and found somewhere to go.

  • sarcasim, you ditz. youmust be from surrey

  • wut a good show !!

  • i absolutely loved the opening ceremony the structure looked so large and modern the graphics were so vivid and bright whoever said canada had no culture was damn wrong

  • The opening ceremony was pretty lame, Doesn't represent Canada at all, now there are widespread confusion about Canada.

  • @CanaDuhGirl

you're an insult to canada for disrespecting a culture that has existed on this country for centuries

  • @ spnade001 You're an idiot... I didn't say anything disrespectful... I simply said it had fuck all to do wtih VANCOUVER where the Olympics are being hosted.

  • your a disgrace to Vancouvers no we dont have Native Americans they live in the states we have Aboriginals which we do have a strong bond with and there are bears all over the Van area totem poles are all over this province you are dumb and make me ashamed how dare you disrespect our Aboriginal people. I was proud to be a Canadian from Van last night but you sure ruined that today with your ignorance! By the way I am not native! Learn your history check out facts before you write shit

  • Bears all over the Vancouver area? I live in Vancouver. You are a moron.

  • Are you a total idiot!!!!! Have you ever left the eastside cause you must live there if you think there are no bears around Vancouver!!! Take the skytrain and go to either Coquitlam or Maple Ridge you damn fool!!!!

  • @ MsLinpin Thank you for agreeing that we do not have Native Americans in Vancouver. I appreciate it. I did not dispresect the Aboriginal people, I simply said the Olympic ceremony did not represent what Vancouver is all about. This isn't the Canada Winter Olympics, it's Vancouver Winter Olympics. Learn to read before you start tossing out lame insults over the nets!

  • Were yiou watching a different event and btw this is not just about Vancouver it was about Canada and if you don't believe that then why the hell was Federal money put into it! Dont tell me to learn to read when you dont know that we have a strong Native culture here! The insults on this page are what is a disgrace to Canada and I bet not one of you know your Canadian history or have even played a sport! A fabulous job that represented our diverse culture of which you apparently dont have

  • MORE BEAVERS! THE SMELLY KIND! LOLlolol

  • I wasn't impressed with the opening ceremonies. From an artistic point of view, I thought they were spectacular. But from a personal point of view... I felt they were way too cultured. And about a past that (in my opinion) is not worth gloating about. It was almost like watching myself be criticized for being a White person. I mean, I thought it was great they had the Native in there... But considering the current protests going on (in Ontario anyways), I felt it was very inappropriate.

  • I also side with Rata4You's point of view.

  • VANOCwebteam, This video is definently ok. I enjoyed it.

  • uhh, what is this crap- wanted the opening ceremony!!!!

  • Me 2 dejahthoris

  • My son is a young 2nd generation Canaidan. His comment to the open ceremonies was : the natives were doing their dance, living their day to day lives on this piece of land, living in harmony with others tribes. When they were done, they were surrounded by the non native - a refection of the history?!

  • You are a 100% asshole, i hope you were drunk when you said this not able to keep your real self in check. but you would still be an asshole. thanks for bringing out the worst in me, People like you make it hard for people like me to hold back the hate.

I fucking hate you. I hope you die tomorrow!

Damn I hate you for bringing out my horrible side totally criminal, you should be locked up!

  • @daveni2 You my friend are 100% awesome! Thank you.

  • Watch.........Fedde Slime Boy

  • I think you used the wrong term. Toronto is NOT a melting pot, rather the opposite. Immigrants are encouraged to show their cultural identity instead of "melting into the pot".

  • RT elmoisgay: Toronto isn't a melting pot you dipshit know it all. The proper term in Canada is "cultural mosiac." Melting pot is an American ideal as they try to assimilate all cultures into the American identity. In Canada the official stance is we let cultures be and all the independent cultures make up Canada's cultural fabric.

You need to stfu like asap.

  • We arent a cultural mosaic....sure, people like to trumpet that word created by the media, but we are all pretty damn racist here in a very subtle way for certain. I used to think i was "non-judgmental" but I realized that its impossible for humans to be that way. We judge who are friends are gonna be. YOU yourself wont look for a gf on a black web site....but sure, you will tell me you have no time or wouldnt mind to - but you and me both know that aint so.

  • Speak for yourself Rata.

  • Of course I´m speaking for myself. Arent you too? Isnt everybody speaking for themselves when they express an opinion? That cliche should be taken out and shot to death.

  • You said "we are all pretty damn racist here in a very subtle way for certain."

Speak for yourself, not "all" Canadians

  • Absolutely monumental. I was so proud, it brought me to tears!

  • CHECK OUT

    They scare old ppl

    NEW POWER RANGER SENSATION

    DangerRangersForever

  • I agree somewhat, but really the only culture they focused on were First nations and Maratimes scottish.

I think in a way it was smart to keep the English/French out of it completely because that never ends well.. one would just bitch about it, this way maybe they will form a unified bitching :p. I am Metis, so I see what you're saying. I thought it was very thoughtful that everything that was said, was spoken in french first.

  • French is the official language of the Olympics. Vancouver had no choice, whether they wanted it or not, French is always spoken first during any olympics - due to Baron de Coubertin who brought back the games to life. So beside that token obligation, French was relegated as a second-citizen zone as it is always in this country. And then the anglos talk about bill 101... jeesh!

  • So was English, I think it was a good idea, because the french and English fight incessantly, there would have been no way to make either side happy. They focused on the aboriginals, the provinces, and Scottish influenced maratimes, and I think it was smart. Focus on the minorities to appreciate their place in Canada, and leave the freaking French and English out of it, all they do is whine anyway.

  • I think that was supose to be a Celtic tribute more then Scotish in particular.

The Celt culture is sort of a grandaddy to French and English cultures so it is safe common ground.

I just assumed that is what they were aiming for because of the celtic tatoos and feel to the performance had a pre-Christian flavor.

I could be wrong. It's open to interpitation.

  • I think that's the only part I didn't like about it.. the fake tattoos were overkill. I mean go ahead and use interesting hair, and dress.. but the black tribal jiffy ink was excessive and it took away from the seriousness. This is coming from someone who has 7 piercings and a half sleeve. (I think they are tasteful) Mostly hidden, or tiny gems.. but I am exposed to the more extreme side of culture in my circle of friends, and I thought it looked ridiculous. Hahaha.

  • Yes I agree but that is why I figure they where ment to be Celts rather then Scotts. They where aiming for the cultural period before it split in to all it's current modern traditions.

Try too hard to avoid cultural favoritisum and you end up with something that offends all cultures. The Scotts I know kept asking "What the Hell is that crap!?!

  • Haha so true, damned if you do, damned if you don't. I can't say anything was offensive to me, but yeah.. Celtic silliness. I hate how cultures scream for notability, and when they get it, half of them complain about the accuracy. There is no amount of accuracy that will please everyone :P

    Cynics.

  • YAY!

  • I'm 1/8th without status. A lot of people like me. Much more than 2%

  • so cool

  • Is anyone else confused by our mascots looking like Asian anime?

Granted, it beats Hidy and Howdy from Calgary in 88 haha. I'm surprised we didn't do something that didn't look a little more aboriginal, or atleast not emulate a style that typically represents Asian culture. (no offense - I like anime just fine).

  • This is propaganda.

  • Comment removed

  • they stole their land long before the olympics dumb fuck

  • This is true, but the generation of people who are up and coming to run this country are much more tolerant. It's not racist to being up race, I thing she was very right! We don't include first nation people in a lot of "Canadian" things. It's ridiculous to be so PC that referring to anyone's nationality is racist.

I think it's great that they made up most of the ceremony. They are the first Canadians after all.

  • We have to share.. and it's retarded to hold today's Canadians responsible for history that was out of our control. Most people don't blame today's Germans for Hitler.

  • Where is the footage of the Ceremonies?

All I can find is talking heads and spam.

I can find the Chinese footage but not the Canadian.

Why in Gods name is my tax dollars going to produce an event with exclusive access that I can't get!?!

    Where is the damn footage?

  • Agreed, I can't find it anywhere, GAH!

  • Perhaps try CTV's website for the opening? That would be my guess.

  • I tryed there.

Their player is incompatable with my system or just doesn't work. I got the spam ads to play but that was it. very user unfriendly.

This should be playing all over the world on every chanal.

What utter crap. This has nothing to do with Canada. It's just another rateings grab by some huge network I never watch.

  • This is insane.

I loved the idea of Canada playing host until this morning.

I see lots of people talking about it. Some hate it some love it but there is nothing but bad still photos of it to see for my self.

If this was some privetly run sporting event I could understand but not the world Olympics.

Not when my money is being spent to host it.

    Pure fustration.

  • It was so boring! All those tamtams! How many Indians in Canada? 2%?

  • About 2% yes, but it is important to recognize them.

  • i am GOD incarnated

  • Wow, I like how all the comments are just arguments about politics lol.

    Just enjoy the Olympics jeez!

  • So the nationalists in all of us come out via Youtube comment. Real classy to bash each other guys. You can't even compare Beijing and Canada's opening ceremonies for one: Summer Olympics are FAR more popular than the Winter. I rather enjoyed last night's opening ceremony.

  • Boring.

  • i was thtere tyhe native cllebration was soo impactfull

  • The most boring ceremonies I've ever seen. It was too embarrassing to watch. Where was Cirque du Solie? The lighting of the touch was the finale of disappointment. What a waste of our tax dollars. What a cheese fest.

  • right on

  • i wish i live in canada only because they have less population.

    30 million to 360 million U.S.

  • And we like it that way, STAY OUT PLEASE!!!

  • I was very proud to be a BC resident. Although I would love to say I am proud to be Canadian...I've been here since I was 8 months old, LOL...but I am Australian...I loved all the Native Dancing...that was my favourite part...I loved when they used to do PowWows at our school in Manitoba in Elementary...was AWESOME!!! Even though I fell asleep before KD Lang came on so I haven't watched that part yet...thank goodness for PVR's, LOL!!!

    GO CANADA GO!!!!!!!!!

  • You're still Canadian :)

This is a nation created by immigration, something America seems to forget.

  • Thanks, I really do feel more Canadian than Australian...I know NOTHING about Australia...and really have no feelings for when they entered but when Canada came in I have to admit I did well up and thankfully my son wasn't home to see me cry...I was so proud at that moment... :c)

  • Haha.. I cried too. I love that we are so diverse. Maybe that's why we struggled so long to figure out what the Canadian identity is. It just can't be pinpointed with our love for others cultures and the diversity that has built this country.

  • People who only watch the Olympics for one sport would hardly be adept to enjoy the cultural part.

Hard to believe someone would be SO cynical that they hated the entire thing. You belong in the usa, 50 bucks says you're from Alberta.

  • Oh, Toronto... close.. you're just a little piece of America that just happens to be on this side of the boarder.

    haha.

  • Good, get the fuck out and off our health care system. I don't want my taxes paying for an American wannabe douche bag.

    Hows that for Canadian hospitality?

  • I pay for our health care system. Every 2 weeks there is a debit from my check.

  • mmhmm.. do you think that covers you only?

Everybody else contributes. Your head is so far up your own ass. Learn some politics before you try and run with the bog kids.. mmmk?

  • The bog kids? Drinking this early in the day is irresponsible.

  • only people with low intelligence and no ability to have a mature debate resort to semantics.

  • Go run with the bog kids.

  • -need I say more.

This was unfun, I was hoping to humiliate you. But you did it before I could.

    bummer.

  • So you don't like America you don't like Toronto (the biggest city in Canada) ya you are a real poster boy for Canada. Leave scumbag.

  • Again - I never said I don't like Americans. I don't like People who don't want to be in the country they live in, so they whine about it.

-Also, I never said all Torontonians are Americans. It just happens to be where a lot of people who wish they were American get together.

  • Rather than read non fiction between the lines I type. I can show you 3 fingers you can read between.

  • The truth is no one cares what you like or don't like or what you think about anything. You are a youtube troll. That is all you are. I laugh at your existence.

  • I do believe you trolled this page.. and judging by your yt page, you make a habit of trolling. Who's the loser with too much time on their hands now?

I was merely defending the nation most people are so privileged to live in.

  • Really? Before Bush, The lower mainland in B.C. was actually the place to be if you wanted to be American. They felt more connected to Seattle than they ever did P.E.I.

I've never met a Torontonian who wants to be American, though I think Toronto wants to emulate New York a bit...

  • You're right... but maybe I was meaning the people who have "American-ish traits" of capitalism and intolerance.

I'm from Calgary, a lot of that type there too. :S

  • @SocialistReign yay another calgarian
