  • These videos are great.

  • thank you. we all have lots of stories from those great years.

  • i like how the voice asked if you are afraid to fail..?

Going to University i realise this has become one of my fears but it helps me survive...I believe this phobia is one of those things which differentiate those who succed from those who don't ....

  • everyone has that voice. heeding it, life becomes a series of choices. you days can be planned a bit. circumstances can be predicted. circumstances will never be understood fully but they can be readied for. preparation is everything.

  • Your voice is so soothing. I keep your page open while I'm doing other things online in other pages. I learn and am comforted at the same time. Thank U!

  • i'm going to assume the "soothing" is a good thing. you're not the first to use that term on these videos lately. can't be a coincidence. funny thing is, sounds like i should be making money with my voice. from a guy who never talked growing up, that's funny... don't know if having me on in the background is like elevator MUSAK. is it?.. what kind of product or service would my voice be good for selling? talking about in a voiceover?

  • WELL DONE SIR!!!

And thank you for your comments on my blog as well... I truly enjoy your work. (I can certainly relate to your story... we should compare notes sometimes...)

  • Wassup from the Afrospear, I am glad i stopped by!

  • i'm glad too. looking froward to paneling at BWB in the ATL. send some other BWB folk by. i have something for the, for parents, for kids. i know that. you know that. let's get it out.

  • You are extremely talented. This was both informative and entertaining. You have found your calling: story telling with a purpose.

  • i have found my purpose. of that i know. but me knowing it is not enough. i need help from the universe of like-minded people who can help me get the word up. talent in a vacuum is dust. i don't want to be dust. i am more.

  • It was a pleasant suprise to find this new vid, I liked this, struck a chord with the feeling of others living life while you're pretending to and the fear of failure. You seem to have come through it all very well but I'm interested in the internal trouble you mention that got you here.

  • came through with a lot of soul searching, talking to my inner voice... hearing that voice and listening.

  • The real point of the flying arrow theory is to expose the limitations of all concepts. If we take our conceptions literally we distance ourselves from reality. Actual motion is not a series of mathematical divisions. Measuring is no substitute for living. This also applies to concepts such as "blackness", "latino-ness" or any identity people cling to.

  • You hit the nail on the head in regards to how black boys at 12 and 13 are feeling. After watching your video my son really related to what you were saying. And my sister's comment is "Dude's got talent!"

  • i got some talent. need to get it shown. ain't that the thing.

  • Merry Christmas! Just watched your video with my baby sister, she's more like my daughter because i've raised her since she was 7. She's home on vacation and we both watched this. FANTASTIC!!!

  • thanks again. spread the good word to other parents.

  • I love The Flying Arrow Theory. Like I've said...You have a God Given Talent! You Are giving your Best!

    Peace!

    ~Mimi~

  • no need to come into this public space and not try to give my best. thanks for the kind sentiments. pass the link on to parents with young boys or the boys themselves.

  • This is such an encouragement to black men, boys, children. I love that "Who else is going to ask them?" I love that you thought your way through life; you didn't just hang on for the wild ride. This is beautiful and so simply expressive.

  • middle school for me was the intellectual realization of what was possible for me and black folk. high school was personal. me developing the guts to act on life. took a few years. actually, one really good summer. i found guides in the classroom there too.

  • still haven't figured that out. i went to one site that said they would email me the footage once i put in the youtube url but either i did it wrong or... probably i did it wrong. that seemed to be the easiet route. no luck yet though.

  • Well I can relate a bit. The way that you describe your transition from white schools to black schools reminds me of my own experiences.

Its striking that you thought the other students were living while you felt trapped in wanting to make your teachers happy. That reminds me of something i read about a study done asking black children why they did their homework. Many said for the teachers, while white students mostly wanted to please their parents..

  • that is interesting. teachers were the few authority figures i respected. and i came from an island where teachers were supremely respected. my mother was a teacher back on the island. i think that was a big part of it.

  • My all boys class has started playing chess...this is wonderful...Again..Thank You for giving me a glimpse into the mind of a young black male. Telling me things that they can't always vocalize.

  • the sad thing is i'm not even getting that deep yet. there is much internal trouble ahead.

  • Yet again, nice job.

  • Another amazing video. Cant wait to hear the next volume.
