@liljazzable a gameshark was used, probably for the purpose of creating these vids, to speed it all up so he could get them posted. he probably used a "one hit kill" code, which leaves your opponent with...well, one hit left.

He empties his entire soul to avoid it from being consumed. The Shun Goku Satsu kills the soul, and since he empties it into basically nothingness, it does no damage.

Gouken also uses nothingness, which renders the Shun Goku Satsu useless. Gen is evil, though--so he needs it a lot more, since more damage is done to evil beings.

Good question. Well, neither were trained to defend against a Shun Goku Satsu, so that's probably why. Did you ever see the opening cutscene with Evil Ryu & Akuma? Both use the SGS against each other and neither get hurt. It's possible Evil Ryu might be able to just naturally stop it in a different way.

Ken just seems to be weak to learn that style of defense. After all, Akuma kicked his ass back a while back and never considered him much after that.

I might be able to shine some light into why Ken didn't learn like Ryu did, but then again, I could be wrong.

When Ryu kept questing to get more and more stronger, his will become more and more suspectable to the darkness, thus periodically he'd lose control.

Since Ken's goal was just to spar with Ryu from time to time out of pure friendship, he wasn't suspectable of giving into the darkness.

Gen is good due to the fact he's flexible in many situations and he's an Anti-air character. The only real good reason why people like Ken so much is because of looks, charisma and his speed without sacrificing the stamina

If 2 very experienced players went at it with Gen and Ken, Ken would have to stay out the air and keep a good distance or he'd be punished quickly. And Gen would have to stay close while being aware since Ken is so quick

Yeah, in the hands of a very good player Gen is awesome, but he is difficult to use, so definitely not for beginners.

Don't get me wrong, Ken is great but there are just too many scrubs who only pick him (or Akuma) and think they are god when they beat other scrub by doing a lot of QCF waggling and get a Shoryuken/Super (or a cancel into those). These moves always did tons of damage in SFA3.

agree with you.Ken,Ryu,Akuma is very easy to use thus becoming choices for beginners.And its very easy to do shoryuken.A very effective move for me.But those beginners will face difficulties when they using other character.Bison for example.Great character,quick,and powerful if you can master all his moves.But to do his move required skills.Same with Gen.But those three still remain my favourite.Because they are very effective to use.

i read somewhere that akuma and gen fought 2 times the first one didnt end because akuma realized that gen was ill so he stopped the fight.... then gen started lookin for akuma to fight again and they did akuma won but he didnt killed gen.... no maybe he died after because of the injuries or his illness no one knows
