  • Shaggy

  • It's Shaggy!!!

  • Where's scooby? :O

  • such a nice guy, was a please to talk to.

  • Bullshit.

  • Is this a rant ?

  • Is there a poem somewhere in here? Or is it just that he wrote a poem?Maybe I stopped watching too soon

  • @MegLuvzLife Not until about 5 minutes in.... the poem is called "The most amazing slam poet" ...

  • @Utopor -ok thank ya!I will site and listen to the whole thing this time. I usually do listen to enitre vidz but for some reason I just couldn't sit still! Take two!

  • I tried saying to myself "This isn't shagy...this isn't shagy...this isn't shagy..." Til he started losing himself. It's Shagy.

  • Can I plz have my 8 minutes of my night back...

  • My Life will say... DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYUM

  • SHAGGY!! what happened to scooby?:)

    Man, you got older

  • hes great and it takes balls to lose yourself and talk to a less than breathing crowde. they better give it up!

  • OMFG!!! IT IS SHAGGY!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! i thought I wasn't gonna like it,because it got kinda boring for me.But the last line just made it for me.Great!!

  • he looks like perterpan and his last name sounds and looks like neverland.... just remember the directions to neverland ........ "third star to the right and straight on till morning!

  • @twilightfan321123 That's SECOND star to the right. Trust me. I know my Peter Pan.

  • Dude Shaggy can slam

  • Does he ever get to the poem?

  • This slam made me cry! Great stuff, just beautiful. It really opened my eyes after a long day... Thank you. :)

  • oh myy...

  • poem starts at 5:00, and ends at 8:05

  • When does the poem actually start?

  • I see what u did there,

  • There was a poem?

  • sad all you guys can say, o hey look shaggy.....grate poem respect

  • scoooby dooby doooo!

  • ruh roe

  • Shane Koyczab is better

  • like whoooaaah scoob !

  • Raggy? You ate too many scooby snacks! And it's awesome.

  • The first part of the poem made me was to puncture my own eardrums. It was grating and cartoonish and annoying. He does a good shaggy impression. The second half was okay. Much better than the first.

  • It took me til 1:37 to realize there was actually an audience.

  • granted this guy has an off-putting style sometimes, its not indicative of his entire body of work. Im very impressed with the way he conducts his professional career visiting obscure schools, churches, pubs in US and UK. he's been to my remote town twice and does extensive tours with not the largest of audiences. There's a lot too be said for his perseverance even if he doesnt have the strongest material.

  • hes kinda crazy

  • 5:26... pause it there. hilarious

  • "I wrote a poem"

  • thats terrible, you wish you had his skills

  • He needs to be a Voice Actor. Like, seriously.

  • man, that crowd should of been way bigger for you man, that was AWESOME!

  • Very nice gift to your grandmother... Good Man!

  • Skip to 7:13 and turn it to mute, you will not be sorry

  • @jesseshulman your a jerk ! just cause u dont feel that way doesn't mean u gotta ruin it for everyone else.

  • no intro

  • wen he stopped bein so goofy nd kalmed down

the poem got a whole lot better

  • This was unusually bad. Exceptionally bad. If you're about to watch this, skip to 6:50.

  • i want to beat you with a tire iron.

  • pretty good haha

  • Stop dissing this guy, geez, it was a well written poem with a plain-to-see message. Are you preforming in front of a crowd? do you have a youtube vid with over 35,000 views? No? I didnt think so, so STFU.

  • this fool is an idiot!!!

  • Im not with that slam shit just poetry thats it

  • @thepolodon21 this aint really that great man, but check out bnv and things like that they are pretty nice

  • I love this we all need to let out our inner nerd :P

  • Shaggy?

  • @battleroyaleveteran green shirt, red hair.... shaggy from scooby and shaggy

    just clearing that up

  • I remember when i 1st saw this, i thought it was the most painful and embarrasing thing ive almost ever seen. But now when i watch it again, i see the contrast he uses from his dorky/nerdy, to his powerful emotional ending. Not sure that the dorky part is absolutely necessary, but the ending was really good. I don't see how the ending was too "simple". I really loved th concept of putting his dying grandmother in the light of the greatest slam poet ever.

  • But that's the nature of slam poetry... it's about conveying emotion... and though other poems may elicit more thought and demand more analysis... slam poetry is supposed to convey strong messages because the mode of delivery combines words with gesticulation and acting.

  • That was...gosh...just awful. Open mic bad. The first five minutes were painful, but I kept watching, based on some comments here. The poem itself was trite and manipulative and pretentious. This will appeal to a lot of people, though, because a lot of people are pretty simple.

If you really want to experience slam poetry that will make you think, check out Rives.

  • I agree with the dude below who said that it's corny beyond belief. Maybe when I was 13 I would have thought the 'microphone of life' was cool, but now I just think its really trite. Slam seems like a great way of introducing kids to the power of language but if you want non-literary stand-up spoken word performance go to Bob Dylan, Allen Ginsburg and Lord Buckley. I can't see how this is poetry. It might be poetic.

  • this was jsut a really bad story

  • This is GREAT. I didn't know what slam poetry was til I asked daughter tonite, after reading of a teacher who imported "slam poets" to her title 1 class....FIRST one I watched, (search for youtube, /brentweinbach was a CONSERVATIVE slammer, which I now believe MUST be rare after watching another "slamming" the Walmart cashier who cared about her soul as she checked out, etc...And now this one, only my 3rd or 4th, standing up for sanctity of all life, in a "death book" post Kavorkian (sp?) era!

  • To be completely honest I couldn't stand the way he delivered this until he stopped being quirky and nerdy or whatever you want to call it. I guess it's his thing haha..good stuff though.

  • i don't get it ... it's corny beyond belief - Hammed up bigger than a fat pig !! It's not poetry it's hysterical linguistic gymnastics shaken not stirred with mediocrity.

  • Kinda looks like Shaggy.

  • dude that is shaggy

  • Pete MENTIONED in slam that he looked like Shaggy! This was so great, and a breath of fresh air after hearing the current president tell a questioner that the shear spunk, joy of life and vivacity of her 100-year-old (grand?) mother would NOT be enough, under "Obama-Care" (if "O" HAD an actual bill with his name on it!) to guarantee her a PACEMAKER- "O" said maybe a pain pill would be best. As someone who, early as '79 saw MD's with fingers in wind, deciding my fave Grandma's fate, BLESS PETE!

  • @jholt89 he looks A LOT like Shaggy... not to mention the reference to shaggy near the end.

  • @jholt89 Kinda sounds like him too when he begins his poem.

  • @jholt89 Kinda sounds like him too when he begins his poem. Nevermind, I think, he does it on purpose. lol. And this just got sad --> bittersweet!

  • i really could barely stand his Dorky/Nerdy Deamenor and voice, but WOW am i glad i watched the end of it. He really should stick to the serious uplifting motivational type ish. He sent gave me chills at the end through his emotional delivery. I really cant respect his first 7 and half minutes, but BRAVO for that last part.

  • i'm pretty sure he did that on purpose. the dorkiness contrasts so much with the ending, that's why the ending is so great. especially how he transitions to the end part so abruptly. it gave me chills too.

  • 4:55

  • thanks for doing that...

  • I love Peter Nevland. My dad got to go to a conference in Texas for his work of Radio Ads and he worked with them for a whole week and i wanted to go soooo bad

  • I loved it although the intro wasn't nesessary it's good for peeps just getting into slam

  • If you really want to hear a wicked slam poet watch Shane Koyczan.

  • Yeah, Shane is pretty neat. He's definitely one of my faves. Krystle Mullin is also nifty, as well as White Noise Machine.

  • I didn't like the voice he put on for the first half of the poem, but I really liked what he had to say about his grandmama. I also liked the shift from audience to guy, it was interesting.

  • There`s only 3 people in the audience clapping at the end. Guaranteed self promo schlock.

  • ZZZZ.... TOTally unnecessary intro dude.

Sorry - i didn't make it to whatever it was you were introducing - lost interest

  • Wow... I thought his intro was annoying. It doesn't even compare to how ridiculously stupid he sounds when he actually starts.

  • i agree !!

  • O.o Intro is far too long. While what he says about his grandmother (when he finally gets to it) is valid, he has no need to hate on popular slam poets. They worked their way there with what they wrote and have devoted themselves to. In the slam poetry world it isn't looks and popularity it's about what you bring to the microphone and the sincerity of the performance.

  • did fu..ing get on with it spring to mind

  • Actually, yes it did xD

  • hey guys i dont know what yalls probs r but i love this guy!!!

  • 4:55 for anyone who doesn't want to watch the pre-poem preamble.

  • thank you

  • thanks so much

  • You rock.

  • @mqnwbevrctxuzi thnx dude. the best comment

  • STFU NOOBS.

  • He was really awkward.

And the intro was far too long.

And the poem wasn't really that good.

  • He looks like Shaggy, and isn't very funny

  • godamn. This guy needs to shut the fuck up and just say his poem, A good poet doesnt need an intro. The poem is all that is needed to explain yourself.

  • Not funny enough for comedy =[

  • You are a Flora V. Poetry favorite. Submit one at Florav:)

  • Too much intro and too much shitty comedy for a serious poem.

  • No good. How does this have 4 stars right now?

  • A hypocritical critique of slam. His ending was just as self-indulgent and "soul-baring" as what he seems to dislike. Also his performance is incredibly awkward (none of his jokes hit home) and I just get a major vibe of overconfidence from him. Odd to put down Taylor Mali as it's quite evident he's ten times the poet Mr. Nevland is.

  • no... not for me... hes like one of hte comedians who do the open mic night and fall flat on his face...

  • I think it's refreshing to see a poet have fun with what he's doing, anger and discontentment only get you so far. He managed to convey a LOT of emotion, and was able to do it with a pretty unique style.

  • MEH, he does looks like shaggy and the voice, nor the shirt helps

  • nice performance, powerful speaker... he has a different style... lots of arm waving... i guess can go with that.

  • The ending was awesome. great job.

  • kinda painfull to watch

  • You have never been more right.

  • He felt really awkward, but the poem held alot of weight and resonated well.

  • This is remarkably annoying.

  • thats the dumbest shit ive ever seen.

  • haha, i like the poem.

He's like Shaggy from Scooby Doo!

  • Hahahah he does look like shaggy.

  • i think he has brain damage or somthingg

  • UR SO HYPER AND UGLY U MOVE TO MUCH !U! KEEP ON SAYING UR THE BEST AND UR A SHOW OFF POETRY IS NOT U CLOWN IS MORE SUITABLE FOR U!!!!!hhhhhh listening makes me feel nerdy!! uuh STOP!

  • I had lunch with Tali Mali and had a debate on what defines "holy moment". lol

  • I didnt like his crazyness got in the way of me seeing the beauty of the poetry. I understand why he choose how to present his poetry like that but im not a fan. Also he tries to hard to make jokes and when the audience doesn't laugh it adds an awkward element to the performance.

  • he is a bit hyper

  • nothing amazing about this

  • He goes to my church

  • sounds like eric foreman from 'that 70's show'

  • This guy sounds like Scooby Doo :-) Keep up the good work.

  • Shaggy? anyone? the voice, the look

  • mmmmmmm yeah

  • He's pretty good.

That was a great tribute, for sure.

  • INCONCEIVABLE!

  • I totally agree... Incredible! Inconceivable!

From me - just two words: Exploding Emotions!!!

  • he doesn't compare to Shane Koyczan in any way at all.

  • yeah i totally agree

  • anis mojgani is way better than all these fags

  • I think he talked a bit too much. This IS for the poetry after all.

Which, was alright, but I couldn't really get the whole first half. From a listener's aspect. The voices and all.

Just my opinion though, I'm not trying to bash.

  • He talks a little too much.

  • great job shaggy-what's scooby doing these days?

  • hilarious. absolutely perfect.

  • eh.

  • He's okay.

  • nice

  • very good.

  • i like the metaphor of alzheimer's bullets

  • Totally awesome!

  • Jesus, did we have to get his whole life story?

  • bad
