  • The harmonies on this remind me of the Spinal Tap Elvis Presley grave scene.

  • Sara Evans & her sister had much tighter harmony. Loved the voices here, excepting they were having trouble singing *together*

  • this is such uptown trash. Bill Monroe smokes these guys. this style of singing sounds like plastic.

  • oh my god, this is awesome!!! i LOVE it!! Renee sounds incredible. they all do!

  • Dang, I believe that's Bill Frisell on guitar, in the background. What a pickup band that was! Yeah, the pitch control was suffering from something. Entertaining experiment, still.

  • Sounds kinda like they may have been a little bit drunk..

  • This is fantastic! To hear musicians from various backrounds and genres of music celebrate bluegrass and folk is exciting. They get it! These folks understand that bluegrass tells the stories of the American Appalachian traditions. This is a group of smart musicians doing their part in preserving a rich part of American culture. I love this.

  • OK Elvis, OK Rufus, OK Kate, Renee, not so much.

  • Horrible - sounds worse than a bar band.

  • Why no mention of Kate McGarrigle in the title?

  • wow.....hahaha!

  • amzingly crap version, this sucks!

The louvin brothers can at least sing this thing

  • ouch

  • Amazing... she's got impeccable technique when singing opera... but seems to be struggling at times here... surprising... still, I suppose we all have to try to challenge ourselves musically and artistically... get out of our comfort zones at least once in a while.

  • My girl, my girl don't you lie to me

Tell me where did you sleep last night?

  • I saw this on TV and was impressed with how insightful Renee was. She was very correct when she said that opera singers tend to be over the top when singing non-operatic pieces.

I don't think she has the best singing voice, but I appreciate that she sings differently based on the type of music.

  • Why indeed? It's not as if there's a long history of classical musicians and composers appreciating and drawing influence from folk music or anything. Oh wait yes there is.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this! Love all their voices together :)
