Why do so-called "religious" fanatics think they have the right to ram their lifestyle down everyone else's throats? Decent, moral, educated people find the hatred and ignorance inherent in the taliban-like "Christians" greatly deviant, yet they continue to spew their nonsense anywhere and everywhere, regardless of being clearly UNWANTED. Don't get me wrong, some of my best friends are Christian, but they know it's better to keep their lifestyle behind closed doors, and not flaunt it in public.
Women who enter into a contract whereby they are protected and provided for, have children who are going to do better, and are less likely to be separated from one or both parents.
Men don't give away protection and provision for free (just look at how hard it is to collect child support).
Without marriage, the govt must act as the protector/provider.

With straight people... "procreation" is not required. A man and woman who want to spend their lives together and join all assets can and do get married. Newt GIngritch or Rush Limbaugh in their many marriages aren't having any more kids...why didn't you conservatives protest those?

What a ridiculously false argument.
Marriage was established to regulate procreation.

Marriage is not about rewarding goodness.

I've been married for 35 years
to my best friend, lover, and wife.
It's been the greatest joy of my life
and I want everyone to have that opportunity.
I live in Canada, where gay marriage is perfectly legal,
and I assure you that gay marriage has not cost me a thing.
Gay marriage has not diminished my marriage one bit.
I hope many, many gay people AND straight people
experience the stability and refuge and joy
that marriage has brought to my life.
