The video feels a bit unfocused. I wish we could see more from the original or "sequal" experiment, before and after pictures from the same place and angles including dates and explanation of which season the pictures were taken, more explanation on how exactly trenches were dug, where the initial mulch came from, if plastics were used in the trench to keep water from evaporating etc. It doesn't seem like any systematic evaluation and research takes place in the project, which is a real pity.
You know how it talked about the village being regularly sprayed against mosquito, from my experience.. mosquito need pools of standing water for their eggs. So..I'm a bit confused when it mentioned this place is a freaking desert.
everyone this is amazing! to find more information on how we bring paradise back to earth (it is very simple) READ i beg of you just to look atleast at the link, it opened the the possibility for me to once live in paradise with my family and so i wish all of you to see the same!
When some people talk about Organic i just get confused. Because the food is not Organic when the seeds allready has been manipulered!!? Gen.Manipulation poisen is the worst thing. It is designed to give us what ever they want in our food. You can do what ever you want with gen. manipulation. Please dont think that if you are growing organic with gen seeds you are Organic, because you arent....That is why i know people who sell good old seeds for morethan what is Gold worth. Wake up people...
ok fello terraists here's the plan first we terra form the earth then on to mars :) start wherever u live with little worm bins then container gardens no matter how little space you have.
plse ggl Subhash palekar,re zero budget agriculture: this man is saving many Indian planters lives, who are killing themselves due to loans and destroyed soil. Thanks to cows dung and urine, theres no more need for chemicals anymore or loans!
"This is the future"!! I love it! This is astounding and brilliant! We all need to focus on the abundant future that our planet has. There is a solution to EVERYTHING, and this is a huge component. There is no political agenda, just people, plants and food. Thank you Geoff Lawton.
i was just watching some one say that the salt problem was the end game there's no solution were gonna hit a wall called the salt barrier and there's nothing we can do about it its all over nothing we can do
now in less than 5 minutes "we just demolished the salt problem and didn't even mean to" gotta love this permaculture stuff.
deus ex machina
plants are the ultimate oopart we gotta put the machine together again and see what it does
Per the last comment - really?? I do not think that Geoff's accent is difficult to understand...nor objectionable - far from the last in actuality. But, I must accept your experience of this. How else to justify that this is all the 'benefit' you received from this documentary chronicling some of his and others' remarkably beneficial work? When I see these children...I am so grateful that people such as he are committed to these endeavors.
first off, i'm glad to see that they were helping PALESTINIANS. between the cruel treatment they are having to put up with, it's great to see someone giving the helping hand to those people. second, this is a wonderful project. just goes to show that the problem is ALWAYS human in nature. thanks for posting.
Yeah and with it they did the same thing they did with Gush katif , gut it for anything of any value then neglect it .
Palestinians and other Arabs are completely responsible for the conflict, naive, good hearted fools like yourself simply reinforce the culture of victimhood which simply makes the situation worse and prevents a lasting peace.
@TheRipcity22 As if Politics can solve technical creative concepts and realities, ever heard of RBE?Resource Based Economy? Can see how Permaculture influenced it peace.
@Rhamsody On the works of semantics and for the sake of of deleting it or clearing it define human nature please.epic video non the less epic indeed thinking we can do this even in Chile or China etc...
@Katharsis540 "human in nature" being the Balfour Declaration of 1917. "human in nature" is the deployment of white phosphorus shells on the civilians in the gaza strip. "human in nature" being the basic primal need to control your fellow man. i'd list all my sources from this very site on why else I feel that way, but as I said above, i'm not interested in starting a pissing contest. and why wouldn't this work in Chile, or China? is it a "geographic" issue, or a "geopolitical" one? peace.
@Rhamsody Will work in Chile or China or any where else in this planet for sure no doubt, also do come to think how will this effect the climate globally if all deserts came to exist as rain forest?how will this effect the animals and other plants?as for politics skipping that loads of reasons do exist, yet we all=products of the environment indeed what you stated may seem human in nature or human nature. What about in feral children? They still human they look like it for sure but may not as if. :)
Permaculture is an astounding thing. It almost makes me want to buy some desert property because the possibilities are so amazing.
My plan however is to continue saving and buy a house on a 1/2 to 1 acre lot and use what I've learned to make it produce, and produce outside the tax and financial system. And what I create is mine, without the IRS, medicare or SSC taking a big chunk out of it before i get it.
@vention4wh Listen to more Bill Molison. Permaculture is not just about water saving, stacking, composting and mulching; it is mostly a way of teaching people raised in a culture of selfishness that your social connections are more important than anything else. It is Socialism for farmers.
1. Oh, I haven't forgotten the return the surplus step. My plan involves having a few extra rooms in my place which I will rent out to other people who are into the permaculture lifestyle. The household will run on a modified consensus with me being there to make the tough decisions. For example if one roommate is a jerk and is irritating everyone I'll be the guy to boots him or her out, allowing the rest to remain on good terms with the guy.
2. I'm saving about 1,600 a month toward this project. Sometime next year I'll sell this condo (which I paid off last year), buy my new place then add my savings to pay the place off. Since I'll have no mortgage I'll be able to give a huge rent discount to those roommates who are active contributing members of the household, who can help me make that place produce some of our needs. I made 2 vids on the subject.
3. And about the tax thing. Too much of my taxes are used to kill people I have no quarrel with. Murder on a scale that's hard to imagine. I saw so many dead bodies (hundreds) during the first gulf war that I really hate the idea of my labor being taxed to pay for killing so many more. Voting won't help. Republican or democrat, the wars continue. Holding a sign won't help. But reducing my tax footprint will help. And the feds have been seizing the SSC money for decades.
@vention4wh BTW: SSC's used to help cripples, orphans, widows & those without the ability to support themselves; declaring your desire to be free of SSC says you want these, your country men & women to die. Try not being evil first.
4. Perhaps one or more of my roommates will be social security dependents. The lifestyle I'm planning should be so frugal that even a person on disability would have plenty of cash left over.
Very cool. Do they have an opinion on NAWAPA? Also, didn't Libya have a water project to do this that was destroyed?
