Yeah she was kind of a jerk in that book. But I still do feel kind of sorry for her. I mean, she was stupid about denying Narnia but you never know... maybe she just missed it so much that she tried to detach herself from it. Either way, I think it was a bit rough to have her whole family killed in a train crash and her left behind, even if she was a jerk about it.

I read the 7 Chronicles of Narnia when I was in high school many years ago. I have just finished watching the movie and enjoyed it more than I expected. This beautiful song and the final scenes of the movie moved me. I just keep playing this song over and over and it resonates with something deep inside me. Yes, Peter and Susan's time in Narnia had drawn to a close because they had grown older (this is what Aslan had told them in private when they were in the courtyard). However as mentioned below Peter does return to fight in the Last Battle.

It's been a while since I read the books but Susan did not return because as Peter put it: "My sister is no longer a friend of Narnia. Eustace added, "and whenever you've tried to get her to come and talk about Narnia or do anything about Narnia, she says, "What wonderful memories you have! Fancy you still thinking about all those funny games we used to play when we were children." The Last Battle pp 123, 124. In other words, Susan preferred to remember Narnia as just a childhood game.

The song did add alot to the scene and vice versa...

I loved how the scene went from being emotional with Susan and Caspian, to funny with "Fillus" and Edmund leaving his torch in Narnia. And then, a perfect ending with the noise from the train turning into Aslans roar.
