It isn't tai chi per say but it is an internal form, they usually do this in the mornings or in later advanced levels, tai chi itself was formed in several different instances as its own internal martial art.

tai ji quan is part of Shaolin training also, Tsang. It's all tied up with Chan Buddhism, no?
