  • The Caterpillar with the Hookah was cool.

  • grace slik is a good singer...she was beautiful back then too

  • i looove her damn voice

  • Christ, Grace Slick was gorgeous back then. She joins the list of sexy 60/70s ladies who've unfortunately matured: Grace, Michelle Phillips, Debbie Harry, Cilla Black...

...only joking about the last one.

  • Alas, feminine physical beauty is very fleeting. I had a girlfriend in college who looked like a petite Grace...a friend now describes her shape as 'the perfect pear.'

  • super video, je lai découvert en "plein voyage" ^^

mais dommage qu'elle chante en pla-back

  • I want you to throw the radio into the tub when White Rabbit peaks..........

  • go ask Alice when's shes ten feet tall

  • ohhhhhhhh white rabbit

  • Genial

  • stupenda!!!!!!! la canzone, la voce, lei, loro...tutto!!!

  • apparently some of you are taking the pills mom gives you.

  • Bayer aspirin?

  • IMO, Jefferson Airplane had some good songs, but were only an average live act - and yeah, in hindsight, a lot of us wasted the best years of our lives getting stoned.

  • I agree with what people are saying about hippies. They pissed away everything the Greatest Generation(WWII Generation) worked for.

The baby boomers in general were spoiled brats and every generation after them were no better, just ingrates that haven't a clue or respect what previous generation gave to them.

That being said, I like the music.

  • The Greatest Generation came back exhausted from a war, with wealth to spend, and a hankering to spend it on THINGS, focused on stability and comfort, and never understanding why materialism wasn't good enough for everybody.

Sent to college by their family to get honed into job machines, many kids transgressed, and took Philosophy and Poli-Sci and Drama and Art and other dangerous classes.

Then, they questioned the comfort of their parents.

The kids became hippies to get UN-spoiled, dear.

  • They did what they had to do, just like their parents.

  • Brought up during the Depression, the Greatest Generation were desperately poor after the war. They didn't have time to think of anything else but working hard to survive. The Baby Boomers were the spoiled beneficiaries of their success. Then came the unpopular war. Young, impressionable, idealistic, the Boomers questioned everything to the point of becoming addled. Dropping out had more to do with the pain of facing the responsibility of adulthood than some noble cause of austerity.

  • So, so, so true. Do the world a favor: take down a baby boomer. They won't retire, Viagra took away from them the only reason to die, they're eating their children and grandchildren's bread. They're so many of them. If we get rid of them, we can feed the planet and cure hunger with their bodies. Down with the papy and granny boomers!!!

  • "If we get rid of them, we can feed the planet and cure hunger with their bodies."

I knew Soylent Green would one day catch on.

  • Precisely !

  • you dont what the hell is up....my parents generation was the greatest generation that happend in american history..my father and my uncles volunteered and joined the army and fought in vietnam not because they were weak minded but because our country made the call.....i pitty you for looking down on the greatest generation....our generation is shit...politics,education,music,good old american hospitality is down the shitter....if you dont like that time period then dont listen to the music...

  • ya well my dads friends joined Vietnam because they were bored

  • Dropping was due to the fact that they actually saw where the world was heading. Now all of these "dropouts" control the world we live in today. They were bought, just like their parents. Everyone has their price, some experience life (idealism) before they are bought. Most will wind up there, but many will never know what they gave up.

  • Stupid worthless hippies, nothing but lazy ass stoners

  • Perfectly accurate. But a selective few of this worthless group was able to actually do something and wrote amazing music.

May the hippies be forced to look at their aged faces in the mirror every morning and regret what they did to their country and themselves.

  • i read that and just laugh.

my family and friends tell me i was born in the wrong generation, and was more than likely stoned off my ass in another life.

    i can appreciate this.

    i love conservative opinions xD

and i'm not sure that made sense.

    hehe. :]

  • I meant to say "were". I just had to clear up that lil typo cause I know a few people noticed it.

Unrelated to you comment but I had to go back and look at mine.

But going back and your response made me wonder what would have hapnt' to these musicians had they have not had success in music. Would the hippies have been the hippies without their music? I couldn't see an event like Woodstock taking place without their r&r.

  • The hippies can already look at their lovely aged faces in the mirror, and swell with pride, knowing that they were the last American generation with the balls to reinvent an entire society.

They broke this country of its complacency, which sorely need breaking, forced Philosophy into the public dialogue, brought us out of the sexual stone age, AND changed our music forever.

As far as I'm concerned, they were the last real Americans.

At least you got the music part right...

  • go back to your blissful ignorance

  • why does that bother you? lol you should try is sometime

  • wow, there's an acid song for you

  • amazing song :)

  • One of the best songs of the '60s

  • The only REAL hippies are the 60's hippies. The rest , wannabees.

  • i bet they all smell... love this song

  • God damn Hippies ! ( I know I'll get tons of negative ratings )

  • "feed your head! Feed your head! Feed your head"

  • Comment removed

  • we are to happy to do it

  • Well, I only said it because hippies are okay in theory but they suck at practice. For instance they're protesting about corporations etc.. AND THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING ! they pretty much slack around all the time...

  • it was a joke comment

  • Gotta Love the Hippies!

  • give me some weed I wanna not care.

  • Genial!!!!! i love it!!!!!

  • este tema es una joya...musicalmente excelente...en lo personal me trae buenisimos recuerdos....alcohol, reventones y amigos...."sólo paz y amor"....ufff notable!

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • FEED YOU HEAD!!!!!

  • She is the perfect woman. hink about what makes a woman, perfect.

  • Grace Slick is amazing.

  • AMAZINGGGGGG !!! GREATSS

  • my only problem with this song is it's too short. Does this actually sound live?

  • No, it's not live. It's just the album track played over a live video. I would rather hear whatever soundtrack went with the video, if it had one.

  • Um yer wrong this is def live . that is all

  • Absolutely NOT LIVE. The Airplane never played a song the same way twice. This is note for note, same speed, same vocal inflections as the record - because it is the record.

  • White Rabbit had to have been pretty consistent. There's hardly a way to vary it, since it's a very set little piece.

That said, this video may or may not be live sound.

Grace does not appear to be lip-syncing, unless she's especially good at faking it. (I know, I know... all the guys who were with her said the same thing...)

  • Oh, and of course! Just remembered the other trick you can use in broadcast performances: The band "hand-synchs" to their pre-recorded tracks, and the vocalist goes live.

This saves a TON of balancing and mixing issues in a hurry-up TV studio situation, as well as satisfying the simple entertainment desires of the studio audience (unfair or not, namely, to hear Gracie do that thing she does).

  • one of the best songs to get stoned with

  • Mr. Obvious.

  • Well said :)

  • we need a new psychedelic scene its been to long

  • Cool!

    Der Wahnsinn!

Diese Stimme von der Frau, echt geil...

  • nice. :)

  • timeless class

  • It's weird how all the places where she perfroms..White Rabbit sounds exactly the same. Did she always lipsynch?

  • i dont think this is the original live audio

  • Well, even when they weren't in a lip-synch situation, "White Rabbit" was probably pretty consistent. It's a short tune that was easy to play (except for the vocal part, and Grace was solid as a rock). It was also a huge hit, so they were obligated to do it constantly.

A good band can do this kind of core repertoire in their sleep, pretty much the same way every night, and JA was no exception.

  • Love it.

  • she was so hot at tjis staje and im 28 now

  • mime mime mime, lets's all mime

  • Love this song.

  • veri good tune

  • good fucking tune

  • A couple side notes: The book has been banned in parts of the U.S. and was also adapted to a tv movie.

  • This song inspired a book called Go Ask Alice. It claims to be an actually diary written by a young middle class girl who becomes immersed in the drug culture. It is really intense with very detailed accounts of her experiences.

  • Go Ask alice was crazy. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I'm not used to that life and must admit that shit was fucked up.

  • it is the actual diary,

    it just inspired the title

    GREAT BOOK, MUST READ

i loved the book i re-read it like so many times

  • Actually it has been disputed. It is widely believed to be fiction. But yes it is a "must read".

  • "im now smoking ganja and listening! "

    You're so awesome !

  • im now smoking ganja and listening!

  • fatastico"""!!!!

  • damn het voice is so hypnotizing

  • you should try listening to her while you are as high as a kite ....now, THAT is psychodelic!

  • LSD AKA ACID

  • Okay, it´s live. =D

  • Is it playback?

  • This woman had it all. lol Keep imagining her at the white house trying to put lsd into Nixons tea. lol. It takes a lot of girl power and a lot of acid!

  • Pure Brilliance (if thats even a word?) and i'm only 21!

  • wat do ya mean only 21? ur old ya lunatic

  • lol only 21 xD

i think this that this is pure brilliance too but im ONLY 15 :P

  • GRACE SLICK ROCKS WHOOOOOOO!!

  • i bet at least 80% of the crowd is on some hallucinogenic

  • Tell them a hookah smoking catterpillar has given you the call.

  • i on't give a fuck about hippies but this is awesome...

  • Yeah man.Trippin right now.I,m on stage with my girl ,grace . Fuck this is great.look at me go.

  • man, i get a vision when i hear this. A junkie lying on a brown old sofa, with a syringe in his arm, listning to this song. great song !

  • AAAAAA, I feel so foolish but every time I hear her voice I cannot help crying of admiration. She's the best.

  • Unreal vocals

  • Grace Slick is one of the best female vocalists of all time. This just confirms how wonderful she is! She is the coolest. She misidentifies herself as a leftist, when she's more of a libertarian. Leftists suck, libertarians have soul. Grace is a rebel, more rebellious and intelligent than 99% of rockers these days. I hope she lives forever. She needs to sign up for Alcor, and read more Kurzweil, Drexler, Harry Browne, David Friedman, and Stefan Molyneux. I wish she would have got Nixon!

  • Real intelligent.. "leftists sucks". Great political insight you have there.

The hippie movement died for a reason. They all came down and realised how little you could accomplish by wearing flowers in your hair and take LSD. It was doomed from the beginning.

  • i dont give a fuck about that other stuff, i just agree with the nixon part. he woulda tripped balls over 600 micrograms. if only...

  • This made me smile. Silly two-party system :-/ Even we libertarians, one of the most viable of the "lesser" parties has little chance of having any real sway in political direction, when our values are really at the heart of classically American political values. Harumph...

  • As a past consumer , it definitely is a psychedelic song

  • This is the original I saw when I was 4 years old....

We saw it on the Smothers Brothers, back in 1967...

    That was forty years ago.

Dayum, Where does the time go?

  • i love that laugh at 0:21....i also loved acid....mix your shrooms with oj to down it easily...

  • Genius.

  • no...you are fucked!!!!!indeed...

  • Its not just a dropping acid song...

its a song about ecstasy, shrooms, acid and all that other good stuff!

  • Not live at all. But still a great clip to watch.

  • Zauberhaft

  • spul nochmal zurück zu der geilen stelle wo sich das kaninchen selbst den kopf abbeißt..

  • This song is fucking amazing..nuff said. Grace Slick was out of this world.

  • She was. I actually love her so much

  • She's not hot anymore...

    >.>;

  • yeah i know lol. Wish she was immortal so she couldn't age haha

  • Grace is staggering !

And this song is wonderdul too. No better adaptation of the Bolero in history ^^ !

  • Hum... I don't think it has anything to do with Vietnam. But after all, why not !

  • hmm it was made a bit after nam started so one could wonder

  • It's a dropping Acid song. Listen to the words. (You've just had some kind of Mushroom.) (Feed your head.) Little Alice is getting wasted.

  • hahaha you have no idea...

  • This song isnt about coke its about alice in wonderland just think about the lyrics while you listen "CALL ALICE WHEN SHE WAS JUST AS SMALL..."

  • It's been raining here and all the horse doo doo in my pastures are covered with psyliciben shrooms. This made me remember of my life growing up on the left coast in S.F. and all the times I saw them there. That is the beauty of you tube, you can go back in time and relive stuff like this. I went to a party at Grace's house in Stinson Beach a long time ago. Those folks, that band, was a beautiful moment in time.Check out Canned Heat, "Up Country"(rare color clip).

  • i love this song so much its all about coke lol

  • No it isn't, idiot.

  • wtf yeah it is is all about drugs this songs listean proberly you dum ass and white rabbit stands for coke but she sings about every drug twat every song has a meaning behing the song this one is bout drugs

  • ACTUALLY IT DOESN'T TALK ABOUT COCAINE YOU SIMPLE MINDED FUCK. OF COURSE IT's ABOUT DRUGS YOUD HAVE TO BE A FUCKING RETARD TO NOT KNOW THAT!?!?! And white rabbit is a character in Alice in Wonderland. Rabbits also happen to be Grace Slick's favorite animal.

  • you are so very right ohboy lol, samanthdif is a retard.

  • Hmmm, I have a desire to drop some trip now.

  • I'm smokin caterpillar right now!

  • shes beautiful

  • Far out!
